>pre-Flashpoint Lois and Clark are back with a new kid in tow >live on a farm out in the sticks >still hiding their civilian identities >have no real connection to the Metropolis supporting cast or the Justice League
So how do you guys want things to happen going forward? Do you want the next big event to place Lois and Clark back into their original roles as Metropolis reporters and friends to Jimmy, Lana and the rest, or is the current status quo more interesting?
Xavier Carter
Instead of reporters I think they should transition to book writers. Think of all the money Clark could make if he sold the shit that happens to him daily in in-universe fiction. Lois could write books about crime, corruption, and politics or what not.
Dominic Thompson
superman fans don't care about any of that they just want "inspirational" panels they can spam around
Jeremiah Sanders
>after all these years pre-Flashpoint Lois is still a brunette
I can't begin to tell you guys how happy this makes me.
Parker Moore
Low quality shitpost but have a (You) to bump the thread.
Gabriel Reed
Clark is a farmer, Lois is a housewife. Clark homeschools his son by using his super-brain to find the most effective ways of teaching him. Sometimes he goes around saving people and Lois has to teach him.
It's good to just relax. Maybe some power training, some Superboy adventures. I dunno. Legion of Superheroes?
Nathaniel Williams
except it's true, if you faggots actually cared Nu-52 supes would still be there but nope
he had a supporting cast, interacted with a lot of people (heroes and not) etc, but "waaah it isn't muh superman" so he got killed off and replaced by the "real" one that now can stand and pose like a mannequin for insipirational panels because you never bothered in actually reading Nu-52 Superman.
Joshua Jones
>Lois a housewife
Nah, can't see that. Lois should continue being an investigative reporter, while Clark is the stay-at-home dad/freelance novelist.
Jason Adams
NO EVENTS.
Whatever comes next make it part of the ongoing story rather than the result of any event.
In any case we know Rebirth is not done reverting canon to pre-Nu52 so the possibilities are varied.
Kevin Gray
>Whatever comes next make it part of the ongoing story rather than the result of any event.
It kind of has to be, though. If the Justice League ever manages to track down Manhattan and undo his futzing with the DC Universe, it's going to have massive implications for the entire line of DC books.
The Rebirth one-shot heavily implied that Lois and Clark are the true Lois and Clark of this universe, not refugees of a lost alternate earth. I don't know how you square that circle without some sort of continuity realignment.
Colton Baker
clearly Clark is going to have to announce his return in an attention-grabbing way
i'd suggest snapping a bitch's neck
Dylan Miller
I'm fine with this + sorta uneasy Superman being the status quo for the next three or so years, until our heroes defeat Dr Manhattan and New52 + Post Crisis are Zero Hour'd and every single hero gets Hawkworld'd.
Josiah Watson
Oh, and I want Ma and Pa Kent back after the Watchmen Crisis or whatever it is.
Asher Phillips
I don't like that having a kid, it feel like its too soon.
Lucas Kelly
Oh quit your crying, he'll be back. We had to deal with 5 years of everything we loved being shit on so you didn't have to browse a wiki page on Superman to get into comics.
Juan Richardson
...
Xavier Mitchell
Supes and Lois are like 36+
Jaxon Stewart
>We had to deal with 5 years of everything we loved being shit on Or as DCfriends said at the time, "Nu52 so graet Marvel is finished we #1 now foreber."
Logan Walker
it has not been long since the restart, I feel like im bieng jerked around from teen sups to oldfag sups and who knows for how long things will stay as they are (I give a less of a fuck by the day)
Chase Adams
>quit your crying
fucking ironic coming from the ones that cried no stop about the nu-52 superman, bunch of hypocrites.
>5 years of everything we loved being shit on
I see, you are just one of those that never actually read anything from the Nu-52 but bitched online no stop
Nathan Russell
>Characterfags caring about the quality of comics They just want to see more of their characters, no matter who writes them, and ship them. It sometimes feels like comicvine and tumblr in here.
Landon Harris
Is that how we avoid saying "reboot"? With euphemisms?
Dominic Jenkins
>Jon playing fetch with Krypto while Ma and Pa watch on the porch
Could these levels of comfy even be attained?
Chase Turner
>I feel like im bieng jerked around from teen sups to oldfag sups This is the status-quo for DC, having at least 2 or 3 Supermen flying around. Johns is returning DC to the pre-Crisis norm of there being a Batman/Superman/Flash for everyone's individual tastes.
The periods where only one Superman exists are the aberration.
Wyatt Moore
Well he wasn't written very well very often. Sure the arc where he leaves the Daily Planet was fun and I think the Morrison run was one of the best Superman runs ever but nobody really seemed to know what to do with him. Then there was the awful choice of WW and Supes dating that lasted way past the point of being interesting.
Zachary Campbell
It's not a hard reboot, the stories still happened, just as apparently part of Dr Manhattan's sinister plan, just like how pre-Crisis stories still happened, just before the Multiverse was destroyed, besides, if you care about continuity and canon in cape comics you're in for a lifetime of heartache and headache, the non-linear ways legacies and stories end up building over time is the most interesting part of shared universes like DC and Marvel, when you get a shared universe that really strives for a consistent, linear story like how Wildstorm or Valiant used to, things get fucking impenetrable FAST.
Jack Cook
Grounded didn't last 5 years you silly. Sure did feel like it at times, though.
Tyler Turner
>Implying Superman has been any good since 1986
Jaxon Wright
Neither Superman feels like the real deal right now, Post-Crisis being a total stranger to the superhero community, and worst of all, being a stranger to Bruce, is orders of magnitude more out of character and bizzare than the silly armor suit or whatever that people online used to strawman about. I'd endorse New52 Superman but then he went and started banging his foster sister Diana.
Isaac Price
Unchained, Morrison's run, Doomed, Superman/Batman and whatever the depowered arc was called, they were all great, I feel like the Superman books were doing way worse before New52, the New Krypton storyline, and the focus on Chris "bland" Kent were terrible.
Leo Wood
They do, though. At least Lois has been doing journalism while in the Nu52 universe as "Author X"
Juan Wilson
They dropped the author X thing with Tomasi's Superman. His Lois is very boring.
Cooper Carter
Superdad and Superbro need to fusion dance. Can't have a Superman without a connection to the rest of the DCU.
>I'd endorse New52 Superman but then he went and started banging his foster sister Diana.
Very easy to handwave that as just a loneliness thing. They were already trying to set up him with new 52 Lois by the end of Truth anyway.
Nolan Peterson
He did have some interest in Diana in pre crisis continuity too. You sound like some sort of puritanical fag. Him tying the knot with anyone is more out of character.
Wyatt Ramirez
lol, okay
Did Clark work for the Daily Planet or not? What was his relationship with Lois? Did he have any friends outside of the Justice League? Was he a brash social crusader or the moral pillar of the DCU? Were he and Supergirl friends or enemies?
New 52 Superman's characterization and status quo were always in a state of flux because no two writers wrote him the same way. The reason fans were so mild on New 52 Superman isn't because LOL ARMOR, it's because after five years and over 100 monthly comics no one knew who the fuck he was.
Liam Hernandez
>He did have some interest in Diana in pre crisis continuity too One panel every 20 years is irrelevant, Trinity shipping is utter cancer. >You sound like some sort of puritanical fag You don't know me bud, but trust me, I fuck and suck every day, not to mention jerk off to mad futa hentai, and I have super gory GWAR shirts that'll make your mom freak. >Him tying the knot with anyone is more out of character. Now I must be misreading something here, or you're not only 20 odd years too late, but showing unironical Miller's Superman on DKR level of character assasination. How is Clark being a good, kind hearted, genuine, grounded person and settling down with his loved one out of character?
Bentley Bell
He had some flings with various women, including WW. It's not one panel either. Him revealing his identity to lois and being tied down to one woman forever was a out of character for tv synergy at the time. If fans didn't bitch so much, it would've been reverted.
Eli Hill
Lois at least is going back to Metropolis. An upcoming arc is called "Back in the planet"
John Walker
You're talking out of your ass, Earth Two Superman was married, Earth One Superman was madly is love with Lois, tho they still did the love traingel thing, and Byrne's MoS set up the romance almost imnediately, Clark/Lois is the most iconic couple in comics, if it's "out of character' because it wasn't the status quo for the first five years of his publication, then Batman should still have footlong ears, purple hands, and should be shooting vampires and snapping necks.
Tyler Powell
I personally really like the current Metropolis. It has a real unique potential.
>Lana "Superwoman" Lang >Lex "Superman" Luthor >Steel has a cape again >MILD MANNERED NON KRYPTONIAN CLARK KENT
And I think it's really amazing having Pre-FP CLark and Lois raising John...
...wait for it...
ON A FARM?!?!?
Easton Butler
Not to mention I'm pretty sure the marriage was actually delayed to match the series, because they got engaged much earlier.
Nolan Rogers
E2 Superman was married as an endgame. E1 Clark and Superman were very different. There was Lana and Lyla involved as well. You're talking out of your ass if you're comparing pre crisis E1 Superman to post crisis.
Byrne never got Superman and wrote him like a discount Marvel character, but besides that, it wasn't Byrne who married them. DC delayed the marriage only to match the timing with the show.
Liam Torres
Read my post again, you casual, limp dick, dipshit, I clearly differentiated E1, E2 and Post Crisis. Small wonder you come to these conclusions with this level of reading comprehension. Whatever you think of Byrne, or his run, his MoS defined modern Superman, and are much more relevant to any discussion of "in character our out of character' than fucking Lyla.
Carter Wright
>Let me refer to other continuities, then get mad when others do as well. So, Post crisis should not be compared with previous continuities, but new 52 should be for not keeping previous love interests intact? Top fucking kek
Zachary Williams
>Byrne never got Superman and wrote him like a discount Marvel character
Dude. C'mon.
Ryan Brown
>Post crisis should not be compared with previous continuities Seriously, can you read? I discussed E1, E2 and Post-Crisis, what was obviously implied was that Lyla, a one shot zany character from a time travel story, does not carry a lot of weight in any discussion. You have a better case with Barda and Superman launching a porn carrer than you have with Lyla.
Carter Stewart
This. I have to wonder if they're eventually just going to start pretending like this never happened like with Iron Man after Heroes Reborn and that this Superman was ALWAYS here.
Or maybe this whole thing with Doc Manhattan will Zero Hour him by "time merging" with New 52 Supes by just saying everything that New 52 Superman did now happened to Old 52 Supes instead, unless it contradicts current events.
>Hey Lois, remember the time that I cucked you by banging Wonder Woman for three years while you were raising our son? And then at some point I just kind of stopped and grew a beard, but I can't quite remember why
Jason Allen
You know what I want to know? What origin is canon for Superman right now?
The last origin to come out for pre-Flashpoint Superman was Secret Origin, but Rebirth Superman has been leaning on the nineties pretty heavily with Doomsday and Reign of the Supermen, so I'm guessing if anything we've defaulted back to Man of Steel.
Which is fine with me, honestly. I still think Byrne's Man of Steel is the best Superman origin ever written.
Bentley Gutierrez
You a gay ass bonobo chimp.
Asher Nelson
I like the current status.
Connor Morales
The post-crisis world ends... this characters should end his story... no stupid returns
Brayden Collins
It's almost Byrnerobotics in here.
Gabriel Hughes
New 52's Supes had a massive flaw: His personality and world were always inconsistent. One minute he's an overly aggressive shitdick, the next he's an all American apple pie sweetheart. Some writers were dead set on a new edgy Superman, when others kept putting him back into his old role. Also, what they did with Lois and Diana were awful.
Samuel Martinez
Not really New Krypton was hyping up to be great at the time until they just threw them under the rug. Its when JMS wanted to do his grounded run did everything fell flat. Even then we had Action Comics Luthor being awesome.
By then however DC had already decided to pull the plug.
Robert Gonzalez
I never got the Byrne hate. I love secret origins one better but holy shit can some people on co get autistic on his entire run because of what he did with Krypton's origins.
It made sense at the time and worked well. His entire run was pretty good. Yes Byrne can be a hack in real life and sometimes it reflects his work but his superman was solid good if not the best thing ever.
Kevin Gonzalez
Supposedly (per solicits, etc., Lois is going to work at the Planet, so not only will she meet Jimmy and Perry, she'll also be calling Luthor boss (although that seems pretty idiotic because last we saw, Edge owned it, why would he sell to Luthor?).
Lana will depend on how the handle Nu52 Lois' death, etc.
I like them living on a farm, I don't need them to move to Metropolis and it didn't really make sense to have Clark attached to one city the way Batman has a hard-on for Gotham or other heroes are tied to a particular city. It seems like a very outdated, previous editors had their own fiefdom sort of thing, especially given the power set of a Kryptonian.
But since they are sticking Kara in National City for TV series tie ins, and not going to move Ollie or Barry for same reasons, I guess who knows?
Daniel Sanchez
Except for a few issues, New Krypton was mediocre when Johns left. Johns could've had a great long Superman run with repercussions, but it got spoiled when he left for other books.
He did make a lot more changes to Superman mythos than that, and he completely changed Clark's personality and Superman's values as well. I felt his Superman run was okay, but it's the same as when people hate new 52 Superman. Characterfags can be pretty autistic with change.
Leo Wright
Id prefer pFP Lois and Clark "do their own thing" and use different identities.
I dont want the original superman supporting cast to go away, but i want it all to feel separate. as fard as lois and clark are concerned, these people aren't the ones they know, they just look like them. thats how i picture it at least.
Oliver Ross
>Clark is a farmer, yes >Lois is a housewife. lol no >lois lane >house wife pick one, unless you want to totally rewrite lois lane's characterization for the past 50 or so years >Clark homeschools his son by using his super-brain to find the most effective ways of teaching him. love this
Andrew Young
>like this never happened like with Iron Man after Heroes Reborn >heroes reborn whats that??? lol. I really hope they dont do that, but in this case i dont think they'll need to, since heroes reborn was a failed fuck-up, and everyone loves Super-dad. I dont see why we can't have super-dad and Super-bro. One's from an alt earth, ones the people person, and ones the loner. Once superbro comes back (by whatever means) let Superdad "retire" and be off on his own; focus on family instead of the superheroics, only getting involved when he's asked or sees a real need; and Superbro is the "regular" superman, the one with the double live, etc. Bonus--since we have Superdad and Lois, Superbro can end up with Lana or something, and no one will be upset since we already have Lois and Clark.
Tyler Lewis
>>MILD MANNERED NON KRYPTONIAN CLARK KENT yeah, whats the deal on this by the way?
Charles Stewart
>Batman should still have footlong ears, purple hands, and should be shooting vampires and snapping necks.
Yes,and?.jpg
Daniel Harris
>superman writes books about his life and becomes a best selling author
tell me more about your original idea user.
Jackson Rivera
turn down your faggotry
Justin Sanchez
It's funny because Lois and Clark would be a terrible pairing in real life. They would not be compatible
Angel Garcia
So if Byrne's run sucks and new52 superman sucks, and most pre-new52 superman sucks. What good Superman runs are there?
Jeremiah Bennett
They're doing the responsible split on housework and Lois works secretly as an investigative reporter.
Intergang came after them because of it and it was only John discovering his powers that saved their lives.
Lucas Mitchell
If you want a longer Superman run, Binder's, Maggin's and Morrison's runs and Millar's & McCloud's Superman adventures and Moore's Supreme are the best runs. Even pre flashpoint, Johns run was good and Buseik's, Byrne's, Rucka's and Casey's, Kelly's non-crossover runs were not bad. Post flashpoint, Johns' and Pak's runs were not bad.
Levi Bennett
so are there 2 Lois too?
I tried to read Superman/Action comics, but the story was too convoluted with dead superman, old superman, and human Clark.
Parker Evans
nah n52 Lois died the same way superbro did after getting his powers.
New 52 superman also died. No one knows what human clark's deal is. They are currently exploring that angle.
