so what do you guys like about this show? i watched an episode and thought the voice acting, writing and animation were pretty terrible but thats just like, my opinion man.

That makes a lot more sense. A lot of the season 2 episodes are easily the series' weakest. During the hiatus the threads were dying, then finally when we get new episodes they're no more alive because they were just that uninteresting and bad.

The latest episodes have been pretty great though. Threads have been booming because of them.

Let's get one thing established: Star vs. is an extremely polarizing show. Neither its strengths nor weaknesses are in much of a stable effect. If you aren't seeing enough to care about in the show by a certain point, that's pretty much going to be your remaining answer, with little likelihood of changing; the opposite also holds just as true.
Regardless of where you stand though, everyone universally agrees on what it does right and wrong. Just how much one part interests you is what matters.

Its strengths are in a few core features, most notably the character dynamics and infinite adventure prospects.
The two protagonists, Star and Marco, are definitely among the better leads in a cartoon (and arguably even among the best duos to exist), simply because of how great they are at bouncing off eachother. They're regularly what makes the show its best and pronounces what makes it such a joy to watch, for their cute synergy, subtle capacity to help eachother grow, and other good reasons I'd have to separate into another post. The rest of the cast is pretty alright too. Relative to their roles, fans are hoping to see them have more of a prominent part since they seemed promising, and so far they're proving to do a decent job at it.
The infinite adventure prospect is exactly what it sounds like. You get a wild range of settings that go from universe centered shopping mall, time travel plains, brainwashing prison, and so on. With a magic wand, alien royalty background, and dimensional traveling, the potential just writes itself out.

The show's negatives lie with its weird sense of pacing, and a plague of low points that just seems to be a new mistake every time.
Star vs. is mostly an episodic series since that's where the focus lies, meaning the constant use of a 10 minute format complements it well.

Often times it does, but the series in general still can't help but feel off with its timing every now and then . Rarely ever is this gone from an episode, so you'll just have to deal with it.
The latter issue is, again, what it sounds like. And again, something you'll just have to brace yourself for. Some new flaw's always coming from a new angle, but nobody could tell you where nor how. And unfortunately, some of the writers can't for some reason either.

The middle ground here is its animation, high-dopamine delivery, and ranging episode quality. Some of the show's best assets may at times end up being its worst issues.
Animation is no doubt the best in the first half of season 1 where it was handled by Mercury, also responsible for the great visuals of Wander Over Yonder. Its second half was handled by Toon City. Here you can notice everything becoming much stiffer and occasionally even off model. Afterwards, Sugarcube and Rough Draft Studios handled that work for season 2. While nowhere near Mercury, it stays on model and does a pretty decent job.
The show's grand sense of energy is the big divider. You either find it endearing enough to put up with its annoying half, or you can't tolerate it enough to appreciate its innocent better half. That's it really. The same applies for ranging episode qualities. There isn't much else to add that wouldn't needlessly convolute the answer.

That's the overall jist of it.

From here I'd suggest you do one of two options. The first is to watch the series in order, up until the end of Mewberty (episode 6a). This is the point where lots of people found the series to be worthwhile, so it's a good indicative point. The second suggestion is to just watch episode 4a/b, which are respectively Cheer Up Star and Quest Buy. These are well-representative of what the show is about and people agree the execution in these episodes is also up to standard. How much you care after either option's up to you.

It's basically Thor the Animated Series except the Jane Foster is actually likable and can take care of himself mostly.

In between the wackiness, it has some interesting things to say about love, pride, respect, and family. That last one undercuts much of the narrative as not only are Star's royal parents very much alive, but they're also endearingly flawed creatures who she can't simply or easily love or resent.

Plus the show as a whole has an enjoyable and twisted sense of humour.

That's not to say that everyone else's answers were honest or correct - the Cube seemed to have a weird definition of "lying" - but by the Cube's standards only Star had lied on the final question.

Janna couldn't have been the one lying. the cube made it clear after the 2nd question that it only displayed "truth" to a question after everyone told the truth.

so to start with we have

Ponyhead – herself
as evidenced by the end of the episode the cube only responds to someone’s full name for the question.
Which means for from the above list only Ponyhead and Jackie could be exempt because neither of them said the name of their crush.
For the other 4. We know from the show that Marco likes Jackie; Starfan13 being such a fan of Star likes Star because she’s her hero, and that Star likes Oskar. Janna was unknown prior to this episode.
Based on all this Star, Marco, Starfan13, and Janna all saying the names of their crushes caused the cube to say that someone lied. Because he said “THE one” who lied it seems that only 1 person was lying in this case. because not only was someone lying they lied “big time”.

So if the cube only responds “Truth” after and only after everyone says the truth then you can go with the flow from there.
For the “who do you have a crush on dialogue” Starfan 13 only said Star Butterfly. Janna only said the name John Keats, Marco only said Jackie Lynn Thomas, and Star said only Oskar. So it means that at least one of them lied. Because none of them said any other names it was locked in as truth.
The cube said that someone lied and then after Star changed her answer at the end of the episode did it register as true. Because the cube registered as true only after Star changed her answer that means that Star was the one who was lying. Had anyone else lied then the cube wouldn’t have said “truth” at the end.

All in all though the point of the episode was to show the audience that Star does have a crush on Marco. Not only does the episode demonstrate that Star has ac rush on Marco but it also demonstrates that she is aware that she likes him contrary to the endless stream of “she doesn’t know it”

user, seriously, that's kinda how 'subtlety' works. There's a big flashy pastel ADVENTURE going on, and at the same time, woven into the background, there's all this other stuff happening.

Star is a LOT more complicated of a show than it looks. SU gets kudos for all the PLOT, but I find it kind of tedious, to be honest.
