I don't know about better overall there's good comics and good manga. But he's right about the variety aspect. The american comic market is oversaturated with cape shit. Compare the top 10 best selling comics majority DC/Marvel capes with top 10 best selling mangas.

I agree. There are few western comics I like and none of them has 20*200 pages. I don't care for colors the picture happens in your head anyway. The pacing is imho better and there isn't so much stuff crammed into one pic.
