Bernie Sanders had a Best By date: the Democratic National Convention. Bernie would've reamed Trump if he got the nomination the right way the first time around but he sold out to the corrupt establishment he supposedly stood against, gave them all his donors' money, and lost all his momentum; Trump didn't even start getting Bernie level donations until after he snagged the Republican nomination, because Trump's supporters know better; two months of potential canvassing from Bernie's supporters' strong ground game, gone. Even if Bernie could even get onto all of the states' ballots which I seriously doubt, no one trusts him anymore except the most deluded of Bernouts.

If an independent voter wants an anti-establishment candidate, Trump is their guy. We never got to see what would've happened if Trump was put in a similar situation as Bernie because Trump won too hard for us to ever know, but at least you can look at Ted Cruz's defiance against his party's nominee to this day and and see that there's more integrity on the Republican side. Bernie would be, once again, kissing the ring of the corrupt political elite and we're just supposed to believe he's fighting for the little guy.

It's arguable whether the Democratic party was ever going to let Bernie have the nomination no matter how well he did in primaries, but at least if he won there'd be plausible deniability that he was making the party work for him the way Trump is hopefully doing with the Republican party. Bernie has some new mileage on his track record now, and it's not good. Trump's new new mileage is a year of fighting the mainstream media (the trust in which is now at an all-time low for everyone except registered Democrats) and political elite responsible for all the shit coming out of Wikileaks lately.

Additionally, Minnesota Supreme Court even came to tell the DFL to fuck off with attempting to remove Donald from the ballot over slightly improper elector nomination, for the sake of representation.
