I was stuck in traffic on the way home when my mind drifted, as it often does, to the election, and what was going to happen. I imagined the day, and in my dream Trump won the Presidency, the Dems took the Senate, and the Reps kept the House.
There was a bit of chaos after the election, increasingly nervous people offing themselves, crying about how could this happen to us? But it died down soon enough. By the time it came to inaugurate him, most had accepted the reality of the situation. The Republicans were happy to have a President they could work with, and the Dems were settled in to stop as much legislation as they could.
A few days passed, and Trump made an announcement. He didn't like that the Dems were opposing him. He called on them to either pledge their allegiance to him and his plans, or to resign, pack up their desks, go home, and "let the big boys work".
They refused of course, laughing, "Who does this guy think he is? He doesn't have the authority to fire Congresspeople." They laughed until Trump ordered one of them shot. With the MPs on his side, he asked them one more time to either pledge, or leave. And this time, they would be going home in a bag.
Mr. Trump came to Washington and he took control.
