The majority of AAA games aren't very good, just like the majority of Hollywood movies aren't very good. There's the occasional good game that comes from it but generally you should just ignore it. Unfortunately the indie scene in video games isn't as developed as it is in movies or music and the mid-budget devs are a rarity these days. Still, there's some decent stuff coming out occasionally and I'm sure there are plenty of games from the early AAA or so that you haven't played to tide you over.

Basically the two things audiences want more than anything in their entertainment is sex, violence and laughs.
