You have areas that are literal squatter camps, with tin roofs, outdoor toilets, no electricity and practically no hygiene. And then just 10-20 minutes away you'll have rich people living in multi floored mansions, with private swimming pools and every luxury they need. It is segregated as fuck to say the least. And then of course you have the middle class houses, with dirty walls, electric fences/spikes on top of them, and ordinary looking houses except for the metal bars on all the windows. Another odd thing about Johannesburg is that there's so many trees everywhere, which kind of surprises me given what I've told you so far.

All in all I don't like Johannesburg at all, but it certainly is a weird city. It's like you're living in the first world with the rest of Africa slowly creeping in.
