I'm taking a class about Judaism in college. What red-pills should I swallow before learning about them?

I speak as a former Jew that converted away. They're raised their entire lives with an us versus them mentality. In big ways and small ways. One thing that got me to break away from Judaism was the answer to a question I had a while ago. First of the ten commandments is there is only one God. The beginning of nearly every Jewish prayer is "Praise Adonai our God". In case you don't know Adonai is the Jewish word for God. So this lead me to the question "if there is only one God than why does every prayer start with praising 'our God'?" The simplified answer I got is "God only cares about Jews, fuck everyone else". I know every religion says they're the one true faith, but to tell me God doesn't care about my friends that follow other faiths was unacceptable, especially because my Christian friends told me that Jesus loved me even if I didn't convert as we are all God's children. In the end went I was no longer dependent on my parents I converted away.
