If we are talking about simulation mode then no, il-2 shits all over warthunder. The flight models are similar (at least for the planes that are actually finished in warthunder), complex engine management works better in il-2, it has better hit detection and it has a better damage model. The ai isnt great in il-2 but the ai in warthunder may as well not exist. You have better maps and an actual single player game in il-2.

The only thing warthunder has over il-2 is graphics but even that has a downside, it can be stupid hard to spot planes in the distance in warthunder.

Most of these issues are because il-2 is primarily an offline game, which war thunder is primarily an online game

What I was fearing, so I'll stick to IL2 then

I'd say warthunder is better than the new il-2 games, battle of stalingrad and moscow. But thats just a personal opinion, FFB doesnt work for alot of the planes and that has made it unplayble for me(well not unplayble but it is a dealbreaker). I'm sure theres some way to set it all up right but im 30 hours in and my control scheme is still fucked.
