I really never understood people who critique centrism, its more of an exercise in logic and moderation, we look at a problem and say, ok how can we solve this without antagonizing people and find a comfortable middle ground that benefits everyone.

for instance, let's take the example of gun rights. extremist opinions would say either ban them entirely and take them away or allow everyone and their mother to have a gun regardless of their background. centrist opinion might be more like have some checks in place but let most people own most firearms after vetting.
