I'm not mean - just stating the facts.

There is unfortunately still a huge difference between Poland and Western Europe both in terms of standard of living, but more importantly in terms of mentality.

Especially in the eastern regions there is a tendency to be permanently buttblasted about everything - and yet to do nothing to change things. Contrast that with the western regions, where people actually do work and do try to improve their condition. It is no coincidence that the Silesian and Wielkopolskie Uprisings were sucesfull and the eastern ones (Warsaw uprising, 1860, 1836 etc.) were not. Unfortunately since communist times the East seams to have taken over and dictates the direction of the country.

Personally - I wish Poland all the best and seriously hope it can have a better future. But realistically unless you educate the eastern populace, they will keep dragging the whole country down.

Regions most to the west are actually kinda poor and have significant unemployment. Voivodeships that are doing best are I believe Greater Poland (lowest unemployment, core of the polish state and huge traditions of trade war with the Germans), Mazovia (Warsaw is there and oil refinery), Pomerania (Shipyards used to be there during communism, now there's only an oil refinery) and Silesia (They were getting lots of money during communism because of coal mines)
