Hey Cred Forums I'm from America and I've lived and only traveled in America my whole life.
I hear about Europe from people who traveled there and they always can easily cite examples of why things are better in Europe than here in America.
When asked what advantages Americans have over Europeans they say, "It's just different." They cannot cite more than one or two advantages of being an American. "Oh the taxes are lower here in America." "Houses and cars are bigger." Usually that's it.
In Europe you have tax paid health care for everyone. Tax paid college education. Homeless is less of a problem in Europe. Poverty is less of a problem in Europe. More vacations, less work hours, better pay, more safety features in Europe than here in America.
Better relationship between employers and employees in Europe. Here in America Employees and Employers are at struggle against each other.
Even after they list every single advantages that Europeans have, they still say, "Oh America is still my home."
Why would anyone want to live in America after hearing about all of those things that Europeans do better than us.
Can anyone give concrete examples of why America is better than Europe?
Even in my research people will say, "we have drive thrus, we can drink water for free in restaurants, we have free public restrooms. etc." Those benefits are minor compared to having college education and health care paid for by everyone in your country. In America we have a trillion dollar college debt and our medical debt is in a similar awful state.
Please Cred Forums give me something to appreciate about living here in America.
That picture bothers me. Why do a side by side comparison with a group of numbered points if each point doesn't compare the same part of the house?

Like apartments? That sounds like shit. I'm in college and my apartment is next to a single mom and her two kids. Walls are paper thin so I have to listen to her preteen son whacking it every fucking night. No wonder Euros are such cucks.

If I had to chose between living in south Chicago and Western Europe, I'd be living in the ghettos with the crips or the bloods. Even niggers have more empathy and humanity in them than a fucking muslim.

Op just got back from Austria. They live on borrowed money from the ole USA. We literally subsidize their militaries in western Europe. They in turn have economic surpluses to redirect into free healthcare, gibs, welfare, etc. Been doing this for 70 years
Logan Smith
Yeah, you're retarded or just a nigger. There are comfy white neighborhoods in Europe. South Chicago is a nigger stronghold through and through, as well as a war zone.

I've been to Europe a few times and have friends currently living there. The differences aren't as much as people say, alot of Americans get a "the grass is always greener" vibe about Europe, coupled with "muh heritage" plastic paddies and Hollywood sucking Europe off all the time it creates an idealized image of the continent that goes away once you go there
>Europe pros on America: Better city planning outside of US cities like Salt Lake Better public transport Older historical buildings and more history (obviously) Amazing Cathedrals, absolutely top tier. Some neat places if you know where to look Really good food
>Europe cons Unlike segregated America their brownies are mixed in everywhere and if you go to a big city like Paris or Cologne they're going to be everywhere. A bunch of muzzies were hanging outside the Cologne Cathedral when I went there and they looked like absolute trash and smelled bad Everything is expensive It's alot harder for young people to own their own home/ land. Alot of annoying people, and not the American annoying where they're just loud, a good chunk of people who are just cunts. Liberals like to suck the place off like it's some kind of paradise
>America pros Everything is yuuuuuuuuuuge Everything is cheap Really good food especially if you go to a total fucking dive that serves BBQ Segregated populations means that you can avoid high crime areas with a bit of street smarts Europe has better cultural landmarks, but the US has better natural landmarks Our rivers are better People are nicer but more goofy, fat and loud
>America cons the people are huge too the food is bad for you >be american >get shot We export liberalism just as much as Europe Jews can be annoying, but for some reason they're a protected class here because "muh chosen people"
Tyler Torres
I just got up, I'll give you a more detailed answer as soon as I'm on the Computer, don't want this thread to die yet
Brody Cox
I'll do my best op. Euros are extremely snobby and closed off. Americans are much more easy going in general. Customer service is a joke in Europe. Walk into a restaurant, store, wherever and get ready to be treated lower than a dog. Muslim families are usually no big deal in Europe, but watch the fuck out for slimy patchy beard looking gangs of Arab looking men. They will fuck you up. Also they eye your girlfriend like they're ready to rape her if you blink too slow. Black people in America don't usually try much as long as the sun is shining. Driving is a nightmare in Europe, thou I will admit, (some) Europeans are much better drivers.( excluding Greece and Italy) guess they have to be. All in all its just freer in America. There's a spirit of optimism and possibility here. The sun just shines brighter. And there's more room to be who you want to be

Imagine being kinda not the most brain powered guy in the world, more a handy-man kinda guy. You still play outrageously high taxes, to fund some snotty kids college education, who will look down upon you for not being a doctor. These doctors will not be happy about paying outrageously high taxes, though their entire education was free and cheat the system by only giving you 5 minutes then prescribing you some drugs yet they will bill the state for 20 minutes of consultation.

>tax paid health care for everyone >Tax paid college education Neither of these are good things >Homeless is less of a problem in Europe >Poverty is less of a problem in Europe Remember when we talked about taxes just a second ago? >More vacations The sign of a lazy people >less work hours The sign of a lazy people >better pay Highly debatable depending on how you define "better". I could say it's worse because people should be paid for their quality of work, not for how much they need to live. You could argue that higher base pay helps the little guy. I could argue higher base pay will strangle the little guy. >more safety features in Europe than here in America How so? Give me a better definition on "Safety feature". You mean identity protection? Self defense? Police force? Laws in general? Better "safety features" is not an argument. >Here in America Employees and Employers are at struggle against each other I've heard horror stories of this but I've yet to witness it for myself. In my experience and the experience of my peers, employers tend to be nice. Strict, since it's their job on the line if you fuck up, but nice. >Why would anyone want to live in America after hearing about all of those things that Europeans do better than us. Because Europe does nothing better than us. You didn't make one single point in Europe's favor. >Can anyone give concrete examples of why America is better than Europe? I could write you a novel on it.
Also the European home is ugly. The description can call it grand and splendid all it wants but the dirt is barren, the bricks and sidewalk are stained, and that wood is on its last legs.

freedom of choice.
lower taxes means you could live below your means, attain more disposable income towards investment, more likely to strike it rich.
Parker Garcia
You know that is probably median income tax.
You forget about VAT which is 25 % in Denmark, mandatory "media license" which is a flat amount you pay each year. If you own any media that can view TV or go on the internet you're required to pay. Even a simple cell phone counts etc. etc.
>Denmark is also one of highest tax paying which consists of 443 named island including Jutland, peninsula, and an archipelago, The Northern European state has population of 5,668,743 covering the area of 43,094 square kilometers. Tax system in this country consist of state tax as well as local tax with state tax is progressive while local is flat tax, so tax percentage in this country as 23.5% of corporate tax, 46.03% minimum individual tax and 61.03% maximum tax while it charges 8% payroll and 25% sales tax therefore this highest tax paying country is also one of the most developed countries in sector of Education, human development, living standard and prosperity so health sector of this country is also developed as well as best.

Subsidized education means the more of the population can get better jobs and escape the lower-middle class.
Foreclosures are a big problem in America.
Vacations and non-conventional hours are essential to maintaining good productivity. People who work more, accomplish less.
etc. etc. I don't really care.
Oliver Scott
America is a good country, all things considered. But it is certainly not the best. I wouldn't even put it in the top 5.
Sure, we can settle for #6 but we used to be #1 and that's the way it should be
If it weren't for Freedom of Speech and 2A I'd be out of this country already. If Hillary wins she'll make quick work of both of those. When that happens I'll be gone. But we all know our fellow safe space Millenials will do that anyways within the next 15-20 years.
Joseph Reyes
>Subsidized education means the more of the population can get better jobs and escape the lower-middle class. But that's wrong. Wasting taxpayer money to fund millions of people who will get worthless degrees is beyond idiotic. Even those who get real degrees won't increase their chances of getting jobs. They'll be limited by what's available and what's available won't always be pretty. The job market is over saturating. >Foreclosures are a big problem in America The problems are people biting off more than they can chew and not fighting hard enough for it. >Vacations and non-conventional hours are essential to maintaining good productivity. People who work more, accomplish less. You just pulled that one right out of your ass.
Parker Cox
Europe is only nice, because the US forced Europeans to stop slaughtering each other and continues to enforce peace on the continent, which is something they shamelessly take full advantage of. Not tom mention, the peace they enjoy without being truly responsible for maintaining, has made them adopt all manner of retarded policies and practices. However, they are so out of touch they claim to victims of Americans forcing these on them, despite them being significantly less popular with Americans
Henry Brooks
I hope every day we withdraw military support from Europe and focus on our own shit.

I think the claim that most American houses are one floor is bullshit. The majority seem to be two story. Some are even three or four, but obviously this isn't the standard.
In answer to your question, if you're wealthy most of the problems in the US don't apply to you. Being wealthy in the US gives you a much better life than being wealthy (same level) in any European country.

Thats absurd. More people with degrees devalues degrees. Experience is needed. We used to just hire random people because they looked alright and then show them the ropes.
European middle class life is worse than american lower class life.
Foreclosures are a result of it being so fucking easy to get a house in america.

Julian Walker
No, idiot. You would get water. Its no problem. You. Still. Do. Not. Under. Stand.
The very idea of calling the cops on someone for not giving you water makes you disgusting little shits to most americans. Because you dont deserve free water. If someone gives you free water (and they always will) thats very nice. But you do not "deserve" it.
John Smith
They are misleading you. Income levels in America are much higher than in Europe (aside from some rich small countries like Switzerland, Norway). So basically you are richer here in America. Free health care/college just serve to reduce disposable income even more in Europe. Not to mention many people can't go to college in Europe because the government has to restrict the number of students to prevent scarcity of education. In America you can go to a University if you want to, and are willing to pay, as scarcity isn't an issue due to the laws of supply and demand. Health care is trickier of a subject, but the differences are not really anything special. Take Denmark for example. 80% of US GDP per capita. With 1.5 to 2 times more taxes = RIP disposable income. Not to mention that with the VAT you can hardly buy anything.
Leo Sanders
If it makes you feel any better, that particular law was most likely aimed at immigrant restaurants, for obvious reasons.
Nathan Allen
I'm related to rich people who gave me millions of dollars for no reason, so there are really no disadvantages to America because I can say whatever the fuck I want as long as I don't threaten my fellow citizens or the government. Everyone has the opportunity to make something similar happen for their kin with enough hard work.
This is likely the same for those people who can only tell you vague things about American superiority: they are trust fund tourists like me.
America is pretty fucking based. Why live anywhere else?
Ian Harris
>we have drive thrus, we can drink water for free in restaurants, we have free public restrooms. etc."
You can add those items to your list of European stuff, at least for Germany. Though I'm not sure about the water because I usually don't get me any. Tea at the Turkish restaurants is usually free though which is nice.

All right, I hope you're still around First of all, what many said that we can have this livestyle, because of NATO is bullshit, many european countries are not in NATO and even if we had our fair shair it wouldn't be that much of a difference. That we contain this by borrowing money is true, but so do americans.
Lower taxes are HUGE. If you compare a 30% income tax to a 50% income tax (which everyone here in Europe who is middle class has to pay) that already means that you work more than TWO(!) months a year for someone else. And that's just the income tax. We tax the shit out of everything. In Denmark VAT is 25%, in Austria it's 20% on normal products, on gas it's over 50% and on cars it's 36%-50% depending how big the engine is. That's right, if you buy a car with a V8 for 150k€ 50k€ are taxes.
Also something that I always read and that's not true is that our healthcare is free. As a student I pay 60€/month. My mom who runs a small bussiness by herself pays 350€/month for herself. It's only free if you're unemployed, underaged or a rapefuguee.
And let's not forget americans have much higher income that almost all european states.
>Better relationship between employers and employees in Europe. Here in America Employees and Employers are at struggle against each other. Again a big meme you fell for. Those laws do nothing but bad. If women are entitled to maternety leave then people won't like to hire woman as much. In France it's very, very hard to fire people, which resulted in many business owners cutting down on positions and avoiding to hire people, because the risk is too high.
Also don't forget that you have a huge population of minorities that drag you down in statistics. If it's just for whites gun crime in the USA is pretty much the same as in Europe. People live about the same and obesety is not that much more either.
Parker Ortiz
I have one or two objections but overall it's fair.
It is a lot harder for young people to own their own home/land in many parts of Europe but not because of social mobility but because land is a sparsity. The amount of space you guys have to put stuff on is crazy compared to for example Amsterdam. The social mobility is way better in most places around Europe though. As a Swede I can literally go from homeless to to a business owner in a few years and that's a big plus. The American Dream is really the European Dream nowadays.
Food... BTFO. I don't care what anyone says, I'd rather have a pizza in NY than Italy etc. The different culinary influences over the years have made America dominant in any style of cooking. The BBQ is fucking science and art.
Jose Lee
>As a Swede I can literally go from homeless to to a business owner
With all those regulations?
Justin Ortiz
It's a meme, at least in Denmark. 9/10 new business go bankrupt before employee number 3 due to regulations and union mafias
Alexander Campbell
Same here We recently even got something called "Registrierkassenpflicht" = registry mandatory That means everyone must have a registry, even DJs etc.
Adam Reyes
more land literally the only advantage
Liam Cox
>With all those regulations?
Yeah. We got decent amount of disposable income even at a minimum wage because everything including vacation is paid for with taxes so how much you want to save for a business is really up to you.
Then we also have govt subsidies for upstarts so you get a "salary" the first few months of owning a business.
On top of that the govt pays a percentage of long term unemployed's salaries to get them back into work (up to 80% where I live) so you have free help for a few years.
It's easy a fuck to own a small business this and with our safety nets you're really not risking anything so the only thing stopping you is if you feel more comfy having a regular job. The regulations doesn't really come into play until when you are moving to next plateau and hiring multiple workers in several businesses etc. Places like the US and China obviously allows you to grow quicker at that stage for obvious reasons, none of which I would trade for what we have.
Matthew Hernandez
Read I see, well in Austria it's the opposite, if you have a small business the state tries to fuck you from every side so that you won't be competition to McDonalds & co
Henry King
>I see, well in Austria it's the opposite, if you have a small business the state tries to fuck you from every side so that you won't be competition to McDonalds & co
Yeah we used to be like that as well up until the mid, late 90's - mostly for ideological reasons (business=bad, workers=good) - but had to innovate and mix more free market policies into the system after a financial crisis.
I think our situation is pretty unique(?) as well in the sense that we have a business org and the unions representing both sides of the issues and sitting down together and working out a fair deal that works for both corporations and workers in each individual branch. So if the restaurant industry is in a slump the business org call the union and the lower the salaries (and vice versa) to follow the flow of the current market.
James Jenkins
But don't big bussinesses flee the country? Spotify for example

American has freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, right to property, right to bear and use arms for defense. Lower taxes, lower cost of life, cheap manufactured products, cheaper gas, higher salary, less unemployment, more opportunities, more room to live.
