Magnum has lower capacity, lower rate of fire, and much higher recoil. If you're just going to plug holes in someone, it doesn't really matter the caliber, what matter is that you can fire as many rounds as quick, and accurately as you can. You can't do that with a magnum

You are underestimating the effects of adrenaline on your accuracy. A magnum's recoil makes follow-up shots very difficult and it limits the capacity you have. It's also much harder to reload a revolver in a combat situation, unless you have practiced a lot with speed loaders.

I own a 7mm Magnum(bolt action rifle) and a .44 Magnum(lever action rifle).
It's an indication that extra powder is used so the brass casing is thicker and requires a particular gun to fire it.
A normal 7mm would not be able to fire the cartridges that my 7mm Magnum can.

A magnum doesn't have to be a revolver obviously. It's just associated with revolvers because of the typically larger casings. There's just no sense in it as a carry weapon when a regular cartridge will accomplish the same effect, without all the issues a magnum will add on to it.

I mean you're talking about your rifles, which is cool - I have magnums too, a Winchester mag. It's more cumbersome, it's louder, it is heavier and the rounds are expensive as fuck. Now it can be fun to shoot, but if I want to be useful in a life or death situation I won't be using a magnum.

15 rounds is not exactly high capacity, that's more like "standard". high capacity is usually defined as 17+ including +6 magazine well extensions for 25 round capacity or the 33 round magazines. always carry 3 25 rounders in the car myself.
