I'll be the first to admit I don't make a lot of money. I work in a factory and get about $2,800 a month. Got a STEM degree but no experience so it has been worthless. However, $17.50/ hour lets me live comfortably. Every year is a guaranteed dollar raise, there are benefits and a matched 401k. Plenty of opportunity for overtime, and holiday pay. It can basically double a pay check.

I've always lived humbly, rode the bus through college, and never took out any loans.. worked shitty jobs, made sandwiches and bussed tables.

I plan to stay with the company, maybe get salaried in one day. But who knows. I had expected to be making more money, but the only jobs I could find in my field either paid less, or were commission based.

I almost took a job as a recreation coach in a maximum security prison for 30k, but decided it wasn't worth getting shanked. I worked as a weight-loss coach for an insurance company, but they only paid $15/hour.

I wish I had worked for 6 years instead of going to college and grad school, then I'd be making $24/hour, and probably have more tangible assets.

During this time they bring in a ton of people of various trades to do repairs or inspections. These mostly happen during the spring and the fall.
