He was notoriously bad with logistics and armored divisions suffered terribly under his command because of a lack of fuel. I'm a big fan of Hitler, and I agree that he made the right decision (sometimes you can make all the right moves and still lose), but this is literally the same strategy as Napoleon with the Continental System.
