ALEPPO, SYRIA (11:45 A.M.) - The Turkish-backed "Free Syrian Army" (FSA) and their Islamist allies are in serious trouble in the northeastern countryside of Aleppo after losing more than 20 villages east of the Euphrates River to the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS).
ISIS managed to break-through the main line of defense for the Turkish-backed rebels this week, capturing several sites in a short period of time.
Making matters worse for the Free Syrian Army and their Islamist allies, the Islamic State forces were able to advance in northeast Aleppo amid Turkish military intervention near the border.
As a result of these setbacks to the Islamic State, Phase 3 of "Operation Euphrates Shield" has been put on hold due to the Free Syrian Army's failures on the battlefield.
The US needs the moderate headchoppers if they want a Syria without Assad. And the moderate headchoppers need turkey.

>From Reset to Realpolitik, Clinton’s New Hard Line on Moscow
>As president, Hillary Clinton is prepared to take a much tougher stance on Russia than Trump — or even Obama. Syria’s civil war will be the first test.
>Before leaving the State Department in early 2013, Hillary Clinton wrote President Barack Obama a final note on Russia. The hoped-for “reset” with Moscow, she said, was in the end a setback. She urged Obama to set a “new course” by taking a harder line against Russian President Vladimir Putin.
>It would be several months until the Obama administration would accuse the Moscow-backed government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad of crossing the White House’s red line on chemical weapons, and roughly two-and-a-half years until a Russian official would show up at the American Embassy in Baghdad with an hour’s warning before Moscow began dropping bombs in Syria. But the Syrian conflict had already begun to emerge as a new fault line in a tectonic clash between the United States and Russia.
(h-how dare they not get permission from an overseas country before helping their allies!!)
>Clinton cautioned Obama that the relationship between Washington and Moscow would “likely get worse before it got better,” and he had to be “realistic” about the danger Putin posed to both his neighbors and the world order, she wrote in her 2014 memoir, Hard Choices, which was published before her campaign for president — her second — this year.
(((world order)))
>In the Democratic primary’s first presidential debate last October, she made one of her clearest breaks from Obama, calling for a no-fly zone in Syria, a demand later echoed by many of the Republican candidates.

They had some small skirmishes recently but largely they're fighting in different areas, which kind of gives them an 'uneasy truce' type relationship. Assad has vowed to retake every inch of Syria, which would mean conflict with the Kurds, but that's just him being retarded and it won't happen
Jack Sanchez
No. They had a few conflicts with government allied militias (NDF) due to disagreement over authority/jurisdiction, but other than that they have been neutral. They have occasionally made cooperative movements when it benefited both parties (helping cut off aleppo from the northern corridor to turkey, capturing youth housing complex and thus allowing SAA to besiege east aleppo). They mostly disagree with the government's actions but their official stance is remaining part of Syria, not fighting against Assad, and just killing islamists in general.

>While drafting the protocol, the two sides also agreed on a “gentleman’s agreement” to prevent the two sides’ warplanes from entering into areas where the other side is conducting military operations.
So basically US got involved "secretly as possible" in the opperation to most likely save Kurds, while main focus of the operation was to clean kurshits, i would be angry to.

Turkey uses FSA for frontlines / occupation / defensive lines. So even though they are handing the villages to FSA on a silver plate, the FSA is failing because
1. Openly being the lapdogs of Turkey is kind of demoralizing 2. They hate the U.S. for allying with kurds, and had some major disagreements when U.S. special forces arrived to help. 3. As you can see from some of the photos, half of them are a bunch of kids Turkey picked up from the refugee camps and gave rifles.

On the contrary, he is milking this in the best way possible. As Erdogan himself said, the failed coup was a gift from God. Thanks to the failed coup and the alleged connection to the U.S., he practically became king of Turkey (declared state of emergency, purged dissidents, changing the law left and right without congressional approval and hinting this will extend for a long time). Now he can do whatever the fuck he wants in Syria without the U.S.'s approval because he got a big "fuck you" from them and is threatening to share boipucci with Putin

I just don't want us to get dragged into this clusterfuck of a war because ISIS bombed Turkey a few times. When I see Eurpean troops on the ground, then I will be 100% for a cooperative action to wipe them out. Until then it is still not Turkeys war, that is how I feel like it.

Honestly the no-fly zone isn't a big deal for me because I don't have a problem with the Russians bombing JAF and JAA. I do have a problem with them bombing aid convoys, but I'll put up with that. What I really want is a ground force to wipe out ISIS. A competent military would have done so in months, but as it is we've been at it for 2 years and the fuckers still ain't gone, and the 4-way fight going on makes it difficult to corral the other sides together to take them out.

SYRIAN ARMY SURROUNDS EAST ALEPPO AS ZERO HOUR APPROACHES
>ALEPPO, SYRIA (11:15 A.M.) - Over 1,750 soldiers from the Syrian Arab Army's 106th Brigade of the Republican Guard and 4th Mechanized Division have surrounded the jihadist-controlled east Aleppo neighborhoods ahead of the planned large-scale offensive.
>According to a local government source, the Syrian Armed Forces have already finalized their plans for this offensive; however, they are awaiting the Russian military's final approval.
>The Syrian Arab Air Force (SAAYF) has already begun their bombardment of east Aleppo, targeting several hideouts that belong to the jihadist rebels of Fatah Halab near the Syrian Arab Army's front-lines.
>Not to be outdone, Hezbollah and Harakat Al-Nujaba (Iraqi paramilitary) have sent their own units to the east Aleppo front in order to help capture the remaining neighborhoods under the control of Fatah Halab,

Syrian Army Discovers Turkish Manual Instructing Terrorists in Use of Nukes
In the course of a recent operation to liberate a terrorist-held enclave in northern Latakia, Syrian Army troops discovered a 'manual for terrorists'. Printed in Turkey, the book teaches jihadis "the proper conduct of war on foreign soil," up to and including the use of nuclear weapons.
The manual, printed in Arabic and called 'Zad al-Mujahed' (roughly, 'Fruits for the work of God's Warriors') was published in Istanbul, with its publishers making no attempt to even try to hide the book's origins. It features the logo of the Istanbul-based Guraba publishing company, contact information, and even an ISBN, inside its front cover.
Speaking to Sputnik Arabic, the Syrian Army soldier who discovered the book said that it was filled with hatred and calls to war against people who don't share jihadists' faith, as well as instructions on what must be done with "enemies and their property."
>"The book describes how to properly burn cities captured by jihadi fighters, how to cut down all the trees, destroy all life, how to execute prisoners in the correct manner," the soldier explained.
>"The book says that jihadis have a right to marry their captives; the book even mentions the aspect of the possible use of nuclear weapons," he added.
The book is banned in Syria for its radical content, and repeated calls to violence and terror. For this reason, Sputnik Arabic decided not to quote it directly. Still, it published photos, republished here, showing the cover and details on the book's publisher. It remains unclear how many copies of this book were found.
What political solution? Rebels just keep saying muh assad must go or we won't accept anything.
Aaron Jenkins
How exactly would giving away half of his country and tons of oil shekels help him in the long run? Doesn't matter how many troops he has if he can't afford to pay them

Thanks, m8. Who breached the ceasefire? Or should I say: which rebel group went full jihad?
Ethan Ortiz
The anti-Assad bloc wants it primarily to help the rebels fight without being bombed.
Some western politicians at first wanted there to be one where the Russian and Syrians could not fly and they were calling for shooting down Russian jets. Most people thought they were retarded though and its not likely to happen.
It seems Obama finally realizes that its in Americas interest to have Nusra destroyed so he is trying to get a no-fly zone that just grounds the Syrian air force while the US and Russia bomb ISIS and Nusra. It would help the FSA by having them not be bombed but it would also hurt them because they won't be able to fight alongside Nusra anymore.
Obama at this point isn't willing to take any major steps to help the rebels overthrow Assad so in his last few months it seems he just wants to make it so the FSA becomes more powerful and Nusra is weakened so he isn't blamed for Al-Qaeda being powerful in Syria.
The whole plan is likely to fail though because it turned out the US does not have the influence necessary to convince the FSA to separate from Nusra. The FSA has pretty much said it won't participate in any deal that allows Nusra to be bombed so the whole ceasefire deal is pointless.

Jabhat Fateh al-Sham never agreed to the ceasefire. Ahrar al-Sham never did either. The rest of the rebels all came around to their side in the end either for battlefield or political purposes.
For his part, Assad never stopped dropping bombs or shelling. The ceasefire never really existed.

Start off with some form of de-centralised system of governance to keep people happy and slowly itch back to a a central form by forming political ties with locals who still favour the old order of one strong gov in Damascus. I think it's possible it's just that the opposition areas are nothing more than warlordism so locals who do favour Assad have no leverage over the warlords

Wait, wait, wait.... So your idea of a "good" political solution is for the Kurds to steal the agricultural land, IS and other jihadist fucks to take the oil-bearing lands, the entirety of the non-Sunni people of Syria being genocided and Assad and the rest of the government (and families) to ...what? Be forced to live in exile and watch their ancestral homelands raped and pillaged by jihadist savages?
>Jabhat Fateh al-Sham never agreed to the ceasefire. Ahrar al-Sham never did either. >For his part, Assad never stopped dropping bombs or shelling. If the Syrian Government was bombing/shelling Jabhat Fateh al-Sham and Ahrar al-Sham it would not have been in breach of the ceasefire then. Silly of the rest of the FSA to help them out.
Nathaniel Reyes
Who the fuck said anything about that you mongoloid? All I said was a political solution I never outlined specifics obviously I don't know everything the trillion opposition groups wants but given the recent amnesty in some areas and relocation of rebels the regime can work something.

It's practically not possible to separate them from each other, so no, he could never stop. Although I prefer he not, since most of the people he kills with his incompetent airforce are civilians, not Jihadists. A no fly zone might nto be a bad idea if it means the people dropping the bombs on JFS are Americans with precision munitions instead of Syrians with unguided cluster bombs.

Do NOT use his generals. This roach has been changing links and is all being autistic about it.

most artilley in was not moved out of the complex, dont know about other weapons though. but it's very unlikely that they could have instigated a high volume of weapons movements in addition to supplying their frontlines via precaurious routes that were bombed 24/7. So probably not.

Like last weeks alleged "accidental" bombing of the SAA instead of ISIS/Nusra?
>Mashallah autist >calling other people roaches Yeah no.

>1,750 soldiers How many soldiers will be present in this assault approx? They'll need at least 8-10k soldiers to storm and take that place tbqh.

they are not using precision munition and they can't even figure out if something if a building is still used as a civilian hospital. also the glorious humanitarian aid superpower us of a didn't even ratify the international ban of clustermunition you retard.
so if it's impossible for them to distance from nusra, wouldn't that make them part of nusra?
unbacked claims like 'he mainly targets civilians' don't impress anyone on this board.
