There was a survey done on whether the flag should be changed or not a while ago and most people didn't want to change it.

Because they were never our overlords, they learnt their lessons from North America to ensure that NZ and Aus would turn out right.

I'm not huge on vexiology, but would it be unreasonable to have the county/petty kingdom flags with the Union Jack in the corner, or would that be too redundant? Cornwall, Northumberland, Wales, Nireland, Scotland, Man, even England, and the rest would have their individual pride under the Union that way.
