Getting a degree paid off for me. I got mine later (30)I was making 60 a year working in a factory, now I make 75 to watch people work in a factory. That was just my first job, now getting a promotion that will put me closer to 100 just 14 months after completing degree.

I have no idea how restaurant workers, retail sales, gas station attendants, or any of the other hundreds of thousands of people from this region making $12 an hour or less get by.

This welfare state is propped up by people making 30k or more. The fucked up part is that these wages shown don't account for government assistance. A lot of these people are making roughly 50k-70k when welfare is added.

This also doesn't account for all the money that's received through federal and state healthcare plans.

The amount of welfare they're getting is exaggerated, most people don't even know all the programs they could qualify for. Regardless, the solution is to get these people well paying jobs, so they don't need any welfare in the first place.
