The Emperor was chosen by the pope to be...
>Roman
The Emperor of Rome in the West, and the new leader of Christendom.
>Empire
"Imperium" is a Roman word, which at the time referred specifically to the Roman state, which the Kaiser is the leader of. Even if you use the modern definition, which is a state that holds other states as vassals, the definition still applied, only the principle state was determined via election.

Anyone who doesn't understand the name, is actually quite stupid.

this meme isn't even slightly funny.

oh right, the infamous german 'humor'. Forgot you're only allowed to laugh at yourselves.

I'll never get this maymay

It's just a name, that's what they called it

its funny because its such a obscene audacity to claim to be the successor of the Roman Empire.

Banned Jews from finance and education = longest lasting civilisation in recorded history. Also the least talked about civilisation in history. Coincidence?

The Roman Empire was the leader of Christianity, and it had collapsed.

The POPE gave them this title, to represent their premier status in Europe, and because none in the west recognized Byzantium as legitimate due to their Orthodox faith.

not holy
not roman
not an empire

We have to go back

It was an excellent way to keep the Germans disorganised and weak

I am a fan of the serene Republic of Venice.

We have to go forward

The second best Reich.

Yeah, they tried to do what the Roman Empire did, semi-successfully

It's not like the Roman Empire was so great that no other empire isn't allowed to compare itself to it

It was a giant degenerate pile of shit only comparable to the US and EU for about the last hundred years of it's existence

>Banned Jews from finance and education

If only. Some cities expelled jews, so they went to court in Regensburg who then ruled that it was illegal and they returned.

Carolingian HRE was god-tier, German HRE was shit.

>Carolingian HRE
Britshit education

...

...

Was Charlemagne not crowned Holy Roman Emperor?

Gott mit Uns

>Stop it... get some help

Either refute my statement or stop posting.

This

Fucking smug Voltaire.

I just can't get over how smug that frog looks.

The realm of Charlemagne was divided and France and the HRE emerged from it. The Frankish empire was a different political entity.

/his/ meme: the thread

>The realm of Charlemagne was divided and France and the HRE emerged from it.
You just confirmed your lack of knowledge on the subject, because the Carolingian empire lasted past Charlemange.

>You just confirmed your lack of knowledge on the subject, because the Carolingian empire lasted past Charlemange.
>make empire into 3 different realms
>totally lasted past Charlemagne

Was he basically Europe's first SJW?

yes he was in fact the first Kaiser.
And he is claimed by both France and Germany, we call him "Karl".

We also have regions in germany with people calling themselves "Franks".
Its complicated and I dont really understand it tbqh canis familiaris

He was the most influential writer of his time. He has a right to smugness.

>What does Cred Forums think about the Holy Roman Empire?
well HRE was pretty chill for the most part - would still be around if not for prussian overblown ego

>belgian

fuck off Voltaire. I know it's you

Same could be said for JK Rowling during this era, but I wouldn't spin that off as a positive.

Charlemagne's empire was inherited in its entirety by his only adult son. Only after his son died did it split in to three different realms.

I'm probably in a minority here but I think the fusion between Roman pagan tradition and Christian ethic was a beautiful thing that reached it's climax in the third Reich. If it wasn't for the eternal (((Anglo))) and his (((Jew))) friend the world would probably be in a much better place but what do I know? I'm just a shitposter on a Cambodian amphibian forum.

Checked.

>Its complicated and I dont really understand it tbqh canis familiaris
They call it Franconia because Franks colonized that area.

>Holy
>Roman
>Empire

Implying

>that nitpicking

How's Jacobin France holdin' up

...

Imagine the noise.

>Imagine the sound of millions of jackboots marching in unison

What? I was correcting you because you were wrong. It isn't nitpicking when your entire argument is flawed. The Carolingian empire extends even past the time it was split in to three, because it was later reunited.

Learn some history, nigger.

Yes, the Pope "transferred the crown of Rome" to Charlemagne for reciprocal legitimacy, that doesn't make it any less ridiculous that we're
>
that the
>German King
is the
>Catholic Emperor of the Antique World

>What? I was correcting you because you were wrong.

Still not the case. If Juncker dies tomorrow and the breaks apart under his rule, the EU wouldn't have survived past Juncker's rule.

HOLY
>emperor/kaiser crowned by the pope
>support from the catholic church
>HRE included northern Italy, and Rome, for a time
>protected Christendom from darkies and viking pagans
>was a major source of knights during the crusades

ROMAN
>successor of western rome
>as stated, included Italy and Rome

EMPIRE/REICH
>emperor ruling over individual units
>not empire as the British or Persian empire
>more like a union between german-speaking kingdoms, imperial states, etc
>'reich' does not really translate well to 'empire'

I think I would call it The Holy Teutonic-Roman Reich
they even added "...of the German Nation" after a while
so didn't 100% larp at being Romans

Initially it covered 90% Roman territory. It wasn't that far off from reality.

Unless it was reunited.

>doubleheaded phoenix

this is freemason symbolism

...

it was fine until it didn't get the "german" adjective at the beginning of the 16 century, and when it got dominated by Prussia, which was a state created without the permission of the pope

Noble goal, but it was carried out by flawed people

:^)

What's ridiculous is that we're
>
that the
>man believed to be the vicar for the son of the creator of the universe
doesn't have the authority to
>title someone whatever he damn well wants

it just became a bloated German autistic mess towards the end
sort of like EU is now, except it's not sanctioned by God

looks shit tbf

i'd expect that in the Soviet Union tbf
but, then again, Nazis aren't that far off from communists

>shitting on based voltaire

>it was fine until it didn't get the "german" adjective at the beginning of the 16 century, and when it got dominated by Prussia, which was a state created without the permission of the pope

And people like this are allowed to live in Europe. In the age of Wikipedia, a 5min reads...

And people wonder why you are getting genocided in Great Britain right now.

Yeah... meanwhile in Norway, first traces of civilization occured.

>Voltaire
>SJW
>Canadian Education

He's practically the exact opposite of that. Do you know nothing about the enlightenment?
