That doesn't make much sense.
The referendum that is in one week about migrant quotas is in one week, and going by opinion polls, it's still about 50-50 if it will be succesfull or not. Migrant sympathisers obviously want it to be unsuccesful. But a detonation of unknown origin can add a few % higher voter turnout, and that is what they don't want.
Also, to add - a simple gas explosion is also very likely, since the building it happened in was allegedly abandoned or under reconstruction, and there was previous cases of smaller scale explosions.

Some Hungarian news sites think it might have been a pipe bomb because they have found nails scattered around the scene. 2 cops were hurt, they were probably checking out the stuff, so given the evidence, it doesn't seem like a regular gas explosion.

I had an additional cringe thinking ahout that last week I encountered an abandoned backpack at a tram station in Szeged, and it didn't even come to me that the bag could easily go boom...

There's already leftists pointing out how the Orban government will just spin this in their favor, and it was probably a plot to turn the referendum. The investigation isn't even complete and their spreading their cancer all over the internet. To the leftist mind this is a plausible trap for Fidesz to walk into, and a more likely scenario than a false flag. A little explosion that could have been a gas leak won't shift public opinion. Seems that leftist have more to gain by this explosion than Fidesz.
