The real oversight is the fact that most ships would have been able to compensate by applying more power to the screws on the adjacent side of the ship it was turning, in effect canceling the turn. The Germans pplaced their propshafts so close to tether though that using only one sides engines at full power didn't offset the shift in the rudder and they just drove In circles.

And no Iowa's aren't the best bbs, a matter of fact on armor layout alone thier more of a super battle cruiser, with guns that would put round on your ships before you dropped you tea. The nature of the force multipling ability of the USN was unmatched and we should have just said fuck it, subjugated britan, sense that what pre war tensions looked like anyway, and then the rest of the world. Armor guns speed ain't shit when your have a properly articulated set of ships for various fighting purposes and formatted into a homogeneous mega fleet.
