Well done OP. You've made a good choice. You deserve to be smug.

MFW I'll never drive the highways at 3am listening to my fav music and stopping at services for hot chips, egg and cress sandwich, mars bars and coke.

Did you get to laugh at their face? Must feel good being smug.

>truck driver

Well, enjoy being 100% useless in about 5 years when driverless trucks are mass produced. Better learn how to fix them or you're fucked man...

>UK flag
>Train to become a truck driver

Polack detected

>in 5 years they say every 5 years
good meme

Speak to them when you are 35

They will be on a higher salary and won't be working class scum

You will be about 150lbs overweight and on the same salary

Talk to them when they are 50

you will probably be dead.

I am in STEM with no debt and on €55,000 a year. Automation is coming in 2 years to where I work but it will be my job to supervise it rather than my job that gets replaced by it.

Also defined benefits pension.

>STEMfags laugh people going into ESL
>tell us we're all not going to make jack shit
>now they're all in massive debt and can't find work because of poos and Asians taking their jobs
>they're all stuck in a country full of immigrants and rowdy googles
>meanwhile we're educating the Asians to come take their jobs
>mfw I'm making decent money for a college grad living the anime dream fucking qt girls and gaining valuable language experience

You made a good choice. Some STEM courses are dryer than your mom's vag, and the markets change every 10 years. So can't tell whether you choose the right profession either.

just save your money starting right now in an intelligent way and you will be better off than them for a long time and by the time they surpass you, it won't really matter as you and them will both be pretty comfy assuming you saved your money.

>Google presents: Uber Truck
>Unemployed with no applicable experience to anything else

>Cars
>automation
Do people honestly believe this? We are not going to get driver-less car anytime soon.

Good choice OP, there's more upward potential in trucking than most people realize

Friend of mine here in USA was a long-haul hazardous freight driver. Made over $65K a year
Couple years ago he got a job hauling chemicals for frakking and is now making $100K while driving unpaved service roads 200 miles from any civilization.

The biggest problem with STEM right now is the amount of people pilling into it as well as people getting more and more education when there is no financial reward for it.

I know people doing the equivalent of a second PhD. Why? No reason. They just are. Its not for a job or higher pay.

That doesnt sound good...

Gowing to university only makes sense in some case tbqh
I'm only in STEM because I plan to start working in my father's business. Honestly, I have no idea why so many people spend the best years of their lives training for a job that they also could've gotten with a nice apprenticeship

I'm a tractor-trailer driver for the past 5 years, 27. Also regularly keep up with science since I have an AS in engineering (couldn't afford more than community college).
Its gonna be another 5 years at least till they get self driving cars right and mass produced.

But trailers are a whole different ball game. Especially when you have to drive through crowded city traffic.

>driverless trucks
You haven't seen any new trucks then mate, they already drive themselves but driver is still needed because outside of highways and really big roads which are rare in Europe, your machine is useless.

Nah it's going to be a lot longer than that so it's still a decent career in the UK. A company trying to develop driverless trucks here admitted it's a lost cause for now because of our non-motorway roads and how difficult they are for the system to navigate without spazzing out because it hit an overhanging branch or bushes. They're just going to stick with motorway-based guided convoy systems for now whenever that gets introduced. The UK will be one of the last western countries to get driverless trucks.

Meanwhile things look a lot better than prospects for the average STEM cuck. Wages probably going to rise in next decade because of demand and shortages. Likeihood of government backed help to train as a driver as well. Brexit on top of that is going to push both wages and demand up while reducing the pool of cheap Eastern European labour.

Won't last forever, but next decade or so are going to be some great times for truck drivers here. Especially to build up some generous savings to plan ahead with. All meanwhile STEM cucks haven't even started paying their student debts off.

Shame about the US and Aussies though, you're fucked with poker straight roads everywhere.

you realize even fully automated trucks will have someone sitting in it right?

>That doesnt sound good.
That he's banking $100K a year with almost zero expenses and ZERO debt?
That truck drivers of that capacity, (if they started early) by the time their in they're 50's are usually Millionaires?

>playing the short game instead of the long game

bahahahahahah
you dun goof'd

when I was 18 I got a misdemeanor charge which means I can never work in Japan.

I'm 27 now and make great money but still.. I really wanted to spend a year or two there teaching. :^(

that kind of money for every moment of your life is not good money.

Ah the good old "we gonna make more eventually!" argument

Thats how they get most of you suckers

A driver is still going to be needed. If anything it makes their job easier

I'm going to get paid around $32,000 a year by just doing a three month course.

Yeah like autopilot made pilots useless and fired.

Oh wait

STEMfag here. Unless you are some kind of beta or retard it's so easy to get 6 figure jobs.

Shouldn't you be grading papers, steven-senpai

okay I'm huge into trucks right now because of euro truck simulator 2

how good do your eyes need to be for truck drivan, how hard are the tests?

So jokes aside what happens when his career does take off and he's making double or triple what you are while you essentially reach a "cap" if you will on how much you can earn. I like trades considering i'm a welder, but you should've chosen something more lucrative than truck driving, lol.

>when his career does take off
>when he has to compete with asians who are better at the job and can be paid less
globalization says hi

It cost about 6-12k onion peso in total Michal, that's the bigger obstacle.

>being smug about being able to do something 99% of humans can do

come to burgerland and get a CDL

there's an endless amount of high-paying jobs that would let you do just that

How Old are you? I'm 25

When I graduated from muh engineering degree in 2014 I was on 28k

Now I'm on 36k, I'm moving to finland for 6 months to work on an engineering project.

All expenses paid of course, food, accommodation and travel.

I'm failing to see how you've gained from dropping out of your studies in an increasingly specialised world.

Get back into education senpai.

Not sure how old you are but you can almost always find a job in the field you take up, you may not want to relocate or move to a different nation even, but if you aren't a dumbass you can find a job in whatever you took up given it isn't an extremely slim field, which STEM is far from that despite what you may think.

Memes are fun and all, then there is the real world.

>in 10 years their salaries will dwarf yours and yours will stay the same

Good long term planning retard. Also

All things considered, I'd bet money that automaton will make your job better long before it makes it poof. I've seen some of the shitty maneuvers that truck drivers have to do. I bet it gets fully automated last. In the mean time, you'll probably at some point get an semi-automated semi, one that can drive highways while you nap in the back, and then wake you up ten minutes before you take over at the exit.

STEM is all well and good, but it tends to train more egos than brains.

>be me
>everyone want to study muh IT becouse dont want to work whit their hands
>I chose to me Machine setter
>they after 5 years (2 unempoyed)
>working in my factory as fuckign worker
>minimal wage
>me Head of technology
>mfw

I'm a chef. I find work where ever I go. Future proof profession, yo

This is the kicker.

The days where jobs requiring a higher education turn into careers and 'take off' are over. The whole "university degree = $$$" meme has caused so many young people to pursue such degrees that it has caused a form of applicant inflation. And that's just on a national scale, excluding the international treat of globalism.

If you don't want to cripple yourself financially for decades to come stop pursuing college/uni. If you want to be smart and secure a stable job that'll keep food on the table and your car running in the 2020's start looking for a wage-cuckey job that you'll be able to turn into a salaried job with benefits and 401k. Manual labor strongly advised, as it simply really isn't cost effective to replace hands and brain with robots when it comes to dexterity and quickness of training. Be wary of jobs akin to book keeping, account managing or planning. Those are the ones that will fall victim to 'automation' first. Probably even before truckers lose their jobs to self-driving trucks.

>isn't cost effective to replace hands and brain with robots when it comes to dexterity and quickness of training
Yet.

>Be wary of jobs akin to book keeping, account managing or planning. Those are the ones that will fall victim to 'automation' first.
Disagree.

Can confirm. Industry predictions forcast a massive shortfall in qualified commercial truck drivers over the next decade.

t. works for 3rd largest trucking company in US

STEM fags are the most useless faggots when they dont get into their fields because they all tend to be complete autists.

Ive known several graduates who didnt get into their fields because they sucked at networking and are now working dead end jobs while being high on depression meds

I also think its fucked up that white people adopt the asian mentality that if you are not some high level doctor than you are human garbage. If "normal" jobs are not done by your own kin and outsourced to shitskins then you are wrecking your nation

>>Be wary of jobs akin to book keeping, account managing or planning. Those are the ones that will fall victim to 'automation' first.
>Disagree.

Accountants are already being replaced by software.

I personally know an accountant successful enough to have her own firm and she's cut down her employee base because of automation (software). Workloads are also down because of this.

And again, this is happening right now, not in the future.

They tried to. Mercedes banked a shit ton into robotics in their new assembly lines.

theguardian.com/technology/2016/feb/26/mercedes-benz-robots-people-assembly-lines

On the other hand, most desk jobs are a smart software developer away from being replaced with a new application. Which are WAY cheaper and easier to implement and DO have the flexibility to be adjusted quickly. And there has to be just one team of programmers to make such a 'job-replacing' application, once its here it will probably be implemented globally within just a couple of years. That's the scary part of automation. People are worrying about the speed at which this will lead to unemployment. You'll see waves across the globe of people in certain professions loose their jobs simultaneously. This will turn capitalism's strive for greater productivity into a race to the bottom for worker rights and general prosperity as a whole.

>Be wary of jobs akin to book keeping, account managing or planning

kek

I work in accounting and its hilarious when you read this. Its a typical wet dream of an IT faggot who just thinks accounting consists of adding rows of numbers in excel

well guess what, it doesn't, it involves a ton of decision making and you're not automating my job until AI is here, at which point all jobs are fucked

t. Italian
>rich in culture
>poor in everything else

>develop autopilot for trucks
>thought that country will still be mostly white
>calais tier niggers sprouting up everywhere
>one nigger stand in front of autopilot truck
>everything looted, including the engine

>went to community college with everything paid for by a government grant
>Worked my ass off so by the time it was time to transfer my academics got me a full ride
>Graduated with no debt and making more than you

Sounds like your friends are just dumb

a driver will still be required to navigate roads that aren't designed for trucks. Every time I go to NY I end up turning at an intersection that you can't make without waiting for a gap in traffic and using both lanes to successfully complete the turn. Drivers will also be required for cargo security.

>dindus stand in front of automated truck
>truck stops because it's programmed not to run over dindus
>entire truck looted and stripped to bare frame

Yeah, that's exactly what i'm saying.

What you describe as 'decision making' is actually you interpreting a problem and guessing how to change something so it stops being a problem. This is something computers actually can't do yet.

Firstly they cannot interpret problems, without having to calculate everything.
Secondly they fail to figure out what would be needed to changed, without having to calculate everything.
And last but most certainly not least. Computers actually cannot guess, they have to calculate everything.

As soon as someone figures out how to make computers guess effectively and interpret problems you, and probably somewhere around 40% of the global workforce, will be out of a job.

to be really really honest
the tax departments would prefer you gone and leaving the computer just doing stuff

It's a hard life user and you can't keep it up for very long. It strains relationships being on the road all day. It affects your health. The between the hours and sitting for so long you turn to shit.

You're still young so it's fine, but 5-7 years in you want to kill yourself.

How much college debt are you in, STEM faggot?

It's decent money but I know mouthbreathers that make the same with a medical degree just walking into a hospital and doing consultations for less than a full working day and then take 3 month vacations.

My older son graduated from college this summer and found a job at 62K. He will be reviewed on a half-year basis for 5K increases, up to 100K, but he'll have paid off his loans (36K) in two years, and he'll be off to medical school.

Truck driving is important work, but some people don't like to stuck in "one place" like that. It's bad for the body.

stem education in germany is cheap as shit. the american system is made to catch intellectuals into a debt trap for their whole life. ironically a german, rockefeller, initiated this.

youtube.com/watch?v=Pwm6U8XOWGI

Muh automation is a meme overplayed by autists who think if only they can get by for the next 5 to 10 years they won't have to work.

Anyone who has ever done anything related to HGVs knows that the entire process couldn't be fully automated.

NPR had a report, prolly 6-8 years ago on having a degree if it leads to a job
guy called in who was driving 18 wheelers for 6 figures a year, he had a Masters in Electrical Engineering and a Bachelor in Nuclear.

>999 years of avionics later we still do not have 100% automatic pilots in an environment without any transit
>literally just needs a computer that notices the changes in air currents and adapts to it to work well
>expect self driving trucks in an environment where there is way more unknown factor around
Yeah, right.

>educated on par with mudslimes and niggers
>feels smug for driving fucking truck

good one!

>driving through barren utah landscape at 3 am
>seemingly endless flat desert land
>occasional headlights flash by in opposite lane
>otherwise no other life to be seen
>listening to youtube.com/watch?v=AiClpq7Mlds
>take a sip of coffee and keep rolling
it's more cozy than you think.

>mfw driverless truck reaches calais

>drives a truck
>still earns 4x the average wage of croatia

>pays 10x more for same food and 50x more for shoebox appartement
>has niggers
>mudslime calls to prayer

Purchasing power for imports from relevant countries is much higher. The guy is much more wealthy than you.

probably, but still niggers, mudslimes, shit food. Their delicatesse is black pooding or pork blood...
My original point was stupidity due to lack of education anyway.

You know truck driver IN Croatia also earn 3-4x of your average wage?

Any idiot can get a degree these days though.

Depending in what, im not seeing many idiots with physics or math degree. Humanities yeah...

I do know that, but its such horrible job in my opinion.

True. It's a personal gripe of mine cause when it comes time for elections you'll see stats like "Greens have highest number of degree educated supporters" as if that were a measure of intelligence when all of those degrees could have been in post-colonial feminism.

Haha i agree. In my own world degree == stem degree and nothing else. Humanities majors.. argh nope im not going into that

Hope you are not studying for a teaching degree faggot. That's the only jobs that are really getting automated. You academics that like to hide in a school for your whole lives are in for some bad news.

Good job OP.

Whats the best job a NEET can get?
Pls no bully

I'm on £30,000 a year as a graduate and in a cheap city. Computer Science is god tier.

Can't wait until these driverless trucks cause carnage on the road. AI's are profoundly dumb.

Josh?

Yeah that trucker's union is really going to lie down and let that happen in the next 500 years

Truck driving isn't that bad if you can get the 5k together for the licences. You don't really speak to anyone of do anything, just drive about and try not to run over cyclists.

bullshit. with all the refugees in europe, he'll definitely have a job for years to come
youtube.com/watch?v=382njADcWvE

i thought some trucks already have auto drive modules for certain roads / conditions? do they not? anyway driving a truck is a chill job, what kind of comfy things can you do when youre behind the wheel? and do truck drivers ever have a partner to go with them? would be cool to take turns, play video games on your turn to rest, etc.

They already say NOW that "non-driverless" cars have to be programmed to deal with regular idiot drivers, there's no way those things are going to be Knight Rider mode where it senses danger and escapes.

If anything it probably deploys white knight mode and provides interracial breeding in the back cab and dispenses hot cocoa for the mongrels.

>be british
>make 5k€ more a year with a stem degree than a waiter does here
amazing country you have there

>AI is profoundly dumb.

Don't worry, the ivory tower egghead engineers will be sure to blame it on the human drivers, after all how could their terrible invention they've spent their life developing not be perfect like them?

>comfy

mmmm, the jewish scam racket is super comfy friend

It must be a shit skin thing. You have poor colour vision.

Guy who was in their commercial video was killed by one.

Those are starting wages dumb slav

>5 years
won't happen in your lifetime i'd bet

i drove a truck that beeped and put on the brakes when you got too close (300ft) for a safe stop to the vehicle in front of you. if every truck drove that way (and they would have to for legal purposes) the highways would come to a complete halt.

How exactly does a union wield any power if its members are entirely useless?

>If you bring in driver less trucks we will go on strike!
So what lol.

You horseteeth fags are all obnoxious and repulsive.

Yeah and to leave those starting wages you are expected to never leave education if you ever want a promotion.

STEM is shit like that.

As a Chemist and I can say you made a good choice. I do hope we have a future without automation in every field because quite honestly it creates inferior products right now.

As far as debt is concerned, your friends can't into money. I don't have debt right now.

>citation needed

Ok so your autotruck is going to deliver to a constriction site on the outskirts of town. It's a construction site so there isn't really an address for the place yet, and like all modern construction sites there are a lot of health and safety measures and procedures to gain access to the site. How is the ai going to find the site, know the layout of some unmarked service roads, comply with site rules, find the unloading compound, unload the materials, get them signed for and leave again?

I think you made a good decision OP, but don't lie. There is no way in hell you're earning 32k a year having only just trained to be a HGV driver.

After several years of experience you might earn that much driving around hazardous chemicals in a tanker or something, but you wouldn't even get a shot at something like that without being time served.

Still, you probably will end up better off than your friends because like you said, they're going to be burdened with huge amounts of debt for a long time.

>needs a citation for AI being dumb ass retard
Have you ever played video games?

Why has half of your country relocated here then?

Well i fix your trucks and youre full of shit. New truck and trailer production is down over 30% this year. Also, any driver talking about 100k salary is either an o/o or a liar and if its o/o they should explain fuel costs and maintenance takes away half that before you even get into what payments are on a rig. Companies like swift,jb hunt, even fed ex are paying 30-60k.

>1 kill by this AI

CPC is such a ballache that a lot of older drivers who were coming up on retirement just said fuck it and left the industry. There's currently 60,000 positions vacant that few young people are filling and it's only getting worse. Wages rise under those circumstances so 30k after a couple of years isn't unusual.

To wash your ass and dishes and because they're lazy nogood sons of bitches turk rape baby gypsy niggers.

>they're lazy nogood sons of bitches turk rape baby gypsy niggers

But that's all Bulgarians...

I don't know what it's like in the US but being a truck driver here is incredibly stressful and unhealthy due to near impossible deadlines where you're driving for 10+ hours without stopping once so you can make it on time.

I keep telling my friends that fell for the college meme to get a job in construction/demo/remediation. Obtaining an operator's liscense isn't that hard and the pay is fantastic, the work is interesting and rewarding as well.

I help design and oversee these projects and get paid less than most of the people who work those jobs.

Where I'm at in the US there is already a shortage of qualified truck drivers. We are practically desperate for drivers.

t. Third smallest trucking company in US

>Why are automation fags so obnoxious?
Because they're lying to themselves to feel better about their career choice. Truck drivers won't start to be replaced by robots for at least 50 years, completely replaced will probably take at least 150 years or more, possibly never with some trucks having to maneuver tough terrain.

Most , not all.
The other part are commie degenerates.

Robo-trucks are never going to become a thing dude, not in the next 50 years while there is still a massive risk of error. Even trains still have operators and they're a million times safer and easier to automate.

Truck driver here. If a robot takes my job in 10 years that's still 10 years of making $25k/year more than I would anywhere else with my no other skills

I work in automation. So far this year my work has directly resulted in over 200 layoffs. There are very few STEM jobs that are actually needed. Many of these jobs are very low skill, and involve tedious data transfer (cut and paste) and other functions that I can easily code for. I hope to rid the company of another 400+ jobs by Christmas.

its a good thing truck drivers didn't have to deal with any kind of debt they need to pay off and can have money saved up so they can learn another trade if shit really hits the fan

this

most of the general population is so profoundly ignorant when it comes to the true workings of the human body they obey the doctors and hospital orders like good goyim and its the greatest business ever if you want that kind of karma.

>our starting wages are less than what an average nigger makes in the us
>we are a global super power
nice country m8, you better keep paying those taxes so that chavs can get their benefits

It's not like the guarantee that their system is flawless

AI in games is purposely made to be defeated, they can be programmed to headshot you instantly

that's a poor example, gps locations, procedures, signs, unloading/loading would be more problematic, there is no need to sign anything, the site manager confirms via an app that it everything is ok or opens a ticket.

Personally, I'd like to replace waiters with drones, security officers in banks with camera's with guns and all of those lazy overpaid bureaucrat's who do nothing but drain our taxes

they are not dumb, they are blind.
sensor technology and image recognition software are the technologies that we need to improve in order to produce fully automated vehicles.

I don't know why don't they use other sensors, like a lot of modern cars already know when something is in front of you and they start slowing down so you keep your safety distance

>they can be programmed to headshot you instantly
Aimbot isn't exactly an AI, also I wasn't only talking about enemy AI.

Also.

if volvo, the absolute gods of automotive safety, couldn't pull it off, it means the tech is still very young for everyone (except maybe for military applications)

Wtf? I'm new STEM graduate (mechanical engineer) making $56K/year plus benefits. You don't have to lie on the internet to make friends user.

Even if you get automated out of your job, which is not likely any time soon, you can always retrain. After all, you are debt free and earn up to twice as much as they do... You are accumulating more savings than they ever will.

Nah buds, you'll just get replaced by a combination of automation, outsourcing and temporary foreign workers like the rest of us.

I'd consider truck driving to be honest. I was looking at some of the courses in college and they're all massive meme degrees. They require a language like french so fuck that.
Most likely il go join the merchant navy and have truck driving as a back up.

your wages are in a whole 'nother ballpark compared to the UK

According to Elon the reason why the car crashed was because it was too bright outside.

Ambient light does not effect any type of radar or proximity sensor.

Even if the Tesla has those sensors, apparently it doesn't utilize them effectively for the autopilot, as evidenced by the crash. "It was bright outside and I couldn't see" is a reason why humans crash, not AI.

Consider whatever the Irish equivalent of the Royal Engineers is. You learn your trade and you get your HGV as part of the package.

Because they're idiots... They've convinced themselves that this high prestige job is the only way to go and that they must attain these certifications.

I know five STEMfags. One is a biologist, one is an engineer at Nuytco, one works at Lowe's and two became longshoremen.

The engineer is a woman. The biologist is an -exceptional- scientist.

>Exceptional

That's what you have to be to succeed in STEM and most of the faggots I know that fall for the meme are average jackasses that don't fucking belong.

Like most of the shits in this thread.

Strikes are completely ineffective in the presence of roboscabs

And then there's the yards you take your shit too. I'd love to see a self driving container truck find its way around the average port.

Fucking shit, what a disgrace for your country, I thought the UK is on par with Germany.
Below 20.000€ for a STEM graduate?! Our waiters earn more.

my dad makes like 70k/year driving a truck but he's been at the same place for 20 something years. its a pretty shitty job overall but the pay can make up for it

>tfw STEMfag
>tfw not even a good one

P-plants are important too r-right guys

kill me now I'm such an idiot

If you don't know what you want to do with your life, join the merchant marine, become a truck driver, get a trade... Do anything else besides fucking around and pissing your money away at University.

I'm a grade ten drop out and I'm making $580 just to shit post this information to you.

I made $120k last year mostly just fucking around on my phone and treating injuries.

Yeah? You the head chef at Wendy's? How big is your cock?

I am a dispatcher for a transportation company. I deal with truckers daily.
Both their and my jobs can be easily replaced by computers, automated trucks, and automated warehouses.
It will make transportation cheaper and safer.

Any other dispatcherfags wanna swap horror stories about braindead truckers?

You don't need to swap stories. Tell us some interesting ones. I love story time!

Alright. Gimme a sec while I switch from phone to computer.

I'm a longshoreman actually. The wage and requirements are pretty standard for waterfront industries. Tugboat crews get it better in my opinion because they're expected to sleep at work.

You really need to start exploring your options, bro.

Just be sure to plan, and invest money, so that you don't end up getting kicked out of a job if the self driving cars do become a thing.

Well good choice, OP. Truckers are basically welfare queens.

that is exactly my point.
even when using several sensor systems, the thing rear-ended a truck so hard it killed the driver, the technology is still very young.

Even if driverless truck come out today, they will still need a human behind the wheel for another 10 to 20 years, you dumb fuck. OPs job will get even sweeter when he literally just has to sit there fucking around on his tablet while the truck drives itself across the country.

Nice trips... Automation isn't necessarily a job killer. If you are experienced in the industry, especially, they will always need people to direct the machines... Until AI comes in to play.

I'm working on an automated dock today, for example.

Looking at average salaries for longshoremen in Canada I found that $39.52/hr Canadian which is $82,201 Cad/year which is $65,366 American per year.

So 1, you're either lying or the best longshoreman to ever exist in Canada making you worth so much more than the average. 2, you're working a dangerous job probably with long hours out in the sun. 3, you have no job growth potential other than what your union gives you in contractual raises.

If you like it great, but I think I'll stick to a well paying job, indoors, with growth potential, where I can use my mind every day.

And even somehow someone creates some kind of self driving car that won't need a driver truckers will simply protest until they are allowed to sit in their trucks and get paid for that. They already more or less whined their way into goverments paying their industry to exist.

I used to think the same, but having an education, STEM degree, means you will work, get to know and socialize with educated people.
I get 35k a year but my collegues are dumb idiots, mostly lower class losers.

I do HVAC, do you want me to start talking about braindead dispatches? I don't think there's even enough room in this thread.

Seriously, how long until truck drivers are replaces by selfdriving trucks?

10-20 years.

This is probably the correct answer.

About 5-10 years to get working prototypes and testing. Between 10-20 years for implementation.

>faggots arguing about who got more flashy pieces of paper for selling themselves into jew slavery
>neither of salaries in this thread could even provide a decent living for a human being
Wow, you guys are really successful.
You trade 1/3 of your life so you could spend 1/3 of your life sleeping and 1/3 of your life preparing for your "job".
You guys are really cool.

I am not 100% sure how it is in the US, but in Canada Pajeets have the worst reputation as truck drivers.
It gets so bad that people stop hiring them so they make their own companies.
Their companies hire tons of people for dirt-cheap rates to undercut everyone else, which logically would put them out of business, except they compensate by driving with 5 logbooks each (for those who don't know the logbooks are used to log your legal driving hours and weighing stations are pretty autistic when it comes to checking that, best not get caught with a violation) so they can drive 20+ hours hyped up on energy drinks and other shit.
It's pretty scary actually, next time you pass Rajj driving his truck, pay attention to his eyes and see how glazed over they are.
Our company had a couple of curry nigs working as team drivers (2 guys 1 truck)

>be dispatcher
>sitting in my office, doing my job
>get call from our mechanics, asking that I come down and see something
>won't tell me what it is
>tell the other dispatchers to take over my phone and make my way down to the hangar
>see a bunch of mechanics crowded around a truck, some are laughing others are shaking their heads
>climb into the cab and gag; it reeks of curry shit
>look at the floor and lose all faith in everything
>the fucking idiots cut a hole in the floor and used it as a shitter
>THEY CUT A HOLE IN THE FLOOR
>TO SHIT IN IT
>when I confronted the drivers they explained that since I told them it was a very hot load and that it had to get to the customer ASAP they decided not to waste time on toilet breaks
>mfw

The Internet is either outdated, averaging the difference between east coast and west coast longshoremen or just wrong.

The base rate for day shift is $43... The shift differentials go up to $53 for afternoon and $63 for graveyard, which is a six and a half hour shift.

On top of that, rated jobs get pay added... I'm a first aid attendant and a tractor-trailer operator, so that's 1.5 hours of overtime rate added on top of the shift. I don't work over time. I'm pretty comfy in my first aid room right now, being paid a Sunday rate of $66 per hour plus perks.

There's no reason for me to lie, I have nothing to gain from it on an anonymous image board.

>be you
>can't write shit in english
>pretend you worth something
>your face

Wait a minute, I've heard this story before... You're in Vancouver, aren't you?

Ok, so you're counting your rate as the average of what longshoremen get, which isn't even close.

his mistake

>poor in culture
>poor in everything else, too

is that better O'Shaughnessy?

Well there certainly was a hot load they had to deliver.

I'm counting my T4 form that says I made $126,800 last year. That's actually less than my peers because I like to take time off.

There's also room for advancement in the industry. When I'm forty, I'll take on a job as a foreman... Their rates are $65/$75$/$85, plus whatever perks they get.

They can also choose to work double shifts... The second shift would be double time of what ever the rate is for that shift.

After that, I can take on a job as a superintendent... Which pays better... And so on up the line.

I can also become an industry trainer if I want... Or just stay a pleb and have a nice relaxing lifestyle.

I think what may bring the average down is the casual nature of the waterfront industry and the seniority system. When you first start out, you don't necessarily get to work when you want. When you have more seniority, you can work as much or as little as you want.

I usually set five days as my target, but I only need three to support my lifestyle... Sometimes I'll work seven days to pad my bank account a bit.

I float between graveyard and dayshift, which pays differently.

But if you are working five days per week, six figures is something you'll get.

Easter European drivers are by far my favourite, they are cheeky enough to bend the rules and make tight deadlines by fucking with their logbooks without being fucking idiots about it. Generally hard workers that will hustle if you tell them to.

>Have Russian driver by the name of Constantine, he is a tough son of a bitch
>Gets put into the same truck as Steve
>Steve is a Canadian man, weighs roughly 300lbs and only drinks coke
>No water, no coffee or tea, only coke
>Steve is a slob while Constantine keeps a clean truck
>After their trip Constantine comes into my office and asks me to never put him into the same truck as "that fat piece of shit"
>Inquire as to what the problem is
>They stopped in the prairies in the middle of the night because Steve has to shit
>It's the middle of winter so it's cold as fuck and there is a lot of wind
>Steve throws on his knee-length coat and hops out of the truck to take a shit by the roadside
>He does his business quickly and climbs back into the truck, sits in the passenger seat and tells Constantine that they can continue
>Less than a minute goes by and Constantine starts to smell something awful
>At first he thinks it's him so he checks his breath and his armpits, then it dawns on him
>Steve
>"Steve, did you step into your shit in the dark?"
>Steve checks his shoes "No man, it's clean."
>"Steve, you reek of shit."
>"It's not me man!"
>Constantine forces Steve to stand and sees that the inside of his coat is covered in shit
>The wind must have blown the tail of the coat under his ass while he was shitting
>Coat + pillow + pants go flying out the door
>The next day Steve has to piss, he open the passenger-side door and takes a leak, they are still in the prairies
>Constantine gets sprayed with piss when the wind forces the stream into the truck
>mfw this story

Nah, this was when I worked in Montreal. Not surprised that it happened elsewhere.

>Canadian
>man
You may only pick one

Another Steve story, this one is short

>The mechanics fucking hate Steve
>He always leaves little surprises in his truck after a trip
>By surprises I mean 2L coke bottles full of piss, or grocery bags with a turd in them, all hidden away in interesting places
>Steve did not like climbing in and out of the truck due to being a fat fuck
>No one liked Steve

The British aren't exactly shining pillars of masculinity.

But I am slav, not british.

Then go home.

But I was invited by british goverment. When they rescind their invitation and tell me to go home, I will.

>driver comes into my office, angry as fuck
>says that he doesn't trust dispatchers and hates them
>ok
>that they always lie and play favourites with some drivers
>ok
>hates favouritism
>ok
>proceeds to lay a long list of things that he won't do and places he won't go to and that he should be getting preferential treatment
>ok
>leaves satisfied as I proceed to ignore everything he said

>Get a call from an angry customer
>Says our driver dropped the trailer a mile down the road from their facility and just left it there, unlocked and unguarded
>Call the driver and ask "What the fuck?"
>"There was no one there to receive it and I did not want to wait all night until someone showed up in the morning."
>Pull up his dispatch and point out that there is a clear after-hours phone number since the gate to their facility will be closed.
>"oh...I didn't read it"
>Lose that customer because that was very unprofessional of us
>Driver gets fired later

Is the self-driving truck really a meme? I always thought it would be a comfy job, my main reasons for not doing it is automation making it obsolete and having weird hours that would keep me from seeing my kids often enough.

I kinda don't believe it will EVER happen, let alone in five years, but that's all I ever hear people say. Is everyone a fucking moron but me?

This. It's like how Trains still need a conductor even if everything could be automated.

This.

My mother wants me to become a forklift operator like my father so I can earn ~26 000EUR/year and maybe pick up ~30k/year in 10 years.

I'm like: Yeah I could do that... OR I can spend 3 years in college, tuition paid by the state, and pick up a relevant degree were if I play my cards right I could start at ~30+k/year (Recommended starting salary is ~34k/year but usually you don't get that on your first job) and work my way up and if I get into the US I could potentially double my wage because Swedish employers pay peanuts in comparison and a lot gets eaten by taxes here.

Jesus it sounds awful. I used to have to manage temps and it was pretty fucking horrific.

Listen to your mother, you are most likely retarded. So you cannot "play your cards right"

well, self driving trucks will be a reality in relative short amount of time, but there will always be someone in the cabin regardless, everyone who drove a truck should know this
t. truck driver

Is that the supreme gentleman?

>Get my physics degree (STEM God)
>$0 in college debt
>Take a $40k loan at .75% interest anyway because that's basically free money at that interest rate
>Get a job that doesn't even require a STEM background, but everyone knows STEM majors are the real deal and are actually intelligent versus arts majors
>Salary is $69k my first year
>Job is in Hawaii, all benefits paid for
>Within 5 years I should be close to $80k

Life's good being a STEM god. Also it's good being in the Army.
