The Germans only bombed six cities in the Netherlands and one of them (Rotterdam) was completely destroyed, whereas the allies have bombed the Netherlands 600 times. Many historical gems like Anrhem, Deventer, Nijmegen, Enschede, Venlo and Zutphen where destroyed by those bombings. Germany only did strategic bombings in the Netherlands, like bridges and harbors, and the allies bombed mainly city centers.

There was a consensus before the war that aerial bombing, because of its dramatically increasing power, should be programatically limited in law of war. Germans kept to the prewar consensus and the Allies did whatever they felt like. The German never understands that there is no credit for obeying a rule nobody else cares about.
