The movie theater I frequent keeps showing high quality dank shit like 35mm prints of old kung fu flix and silent films and 70mm runs of Lawrence of Arabia and the occasional decent new film like Hell or High Water instead of the recycled garbage that passes for most movies and lo and behold there are shitloads of millenials attending. Modern theatres are also ugly and suck generally. There is a tiny old theatre with super comfy seats, a great cheap snack bar and a beautiful, inspiring Deco interior in our town. It has live music, lectures and sometimes shows quality old movies. I go there frequently.

Just buy a projector and nice screen and you will not need to visit the theater again, unless you have to see something as soon as it opens.

for $1000 US dollars you can get a decent 1080p projector and 120" screen.

I drive a fairly new (2014 or 2015) Honda Civic and it is honestly a nice car. Good fuel economy, comfortable to drive, fast enough for me, and it has Bluetooth so I can listen to decent music while I drive instead of the crappy local stations (my phone's headphone jack is broken so aux isn't good enough)

Im not even sure if the movie medium is a death sentence in itself. I think movies are just mostly crap. I saw Don't Breathe really recently and really liked it (I don't watch many horror films so I didn't find it derivative). I looked for other movies at the cinema and there is one other good film out of about 7 and one meh looking one.

Also I think tv writer driven formats with long plots that take many hours are maybe the death sentence. So many films don't really bother to tell a plot. Jason Bourne, High Rise, hail caesar, everybody wants some are films off the top of my head that gave up on plot (I liked the latter two though)
