Except Hilary isn't an Alpha and she was absolutely woeful in this debate, yet Trump was somehow even worse. There were so many times when Trump could have lunged for the jugular and hit her hard, and it would have been easy, but he didn't. He squandered opportunity after opportunity.

Okay. I've given this some thought.

First off Hillary came across as the most "competent" on stage and in that regard definitely "trounced" Trump. But then we must take into consideration that Hillary is a career politician so really this should have been expected. Trump I believe as well missed out on getting any major punches in. He got in a few jabs and he got them in in a nice neat slogan type way which will resonate with some while go over the heads of others.

Both candidates appeared quite honestly underwhelming in truth anyway and we should look at this in the belief as to how it will translate into polling.

Clinton has a small group of core supporters with a decent chunk of basically hashtag neverdrumpf. She will have pleased these and solidified their support in her however I don't think we should even regard these as potential trump voters. If anything she may even have appeased them to the extent they may get comfortable and their discipline in voting may end up similar to that of the remain campaign for Brexit.

Trump already has a solid core voter base who lets face it are voting Trump regardless at this point. Trumps campaigning prior to this first debate has ensured that base. These people feeling like the ostracized underdogs the whole way through this election won't be swayed to not vote in mass by this initial debate.

The votes needed here were the independents. Now we don't quite yet know what way they are leaning since watching this but one thing to take note of is neither candidate was exactly inspiring and each got their own jabs in in different forms.

To add on to this Trump will come from this with the knowledge he needs to do more where Hillary will come away relieved probably hoping to head through the next debate similarly to this one. This is where Trump can catch her off guard.
