I'm a bit of the way through the article on J list and I'm not seeing any evidence of a media-wide conspiracy. It says that 400 people were involved. From what I can gather it does indeed sound like journalistically unethical behavior, though that's just from a cursory reading. Not all of the people involved were even journalists. I'm not seeing any justification for a leap from "a number of journalists engaged in something ethically questionable" to "there is a media-wide conspiracy that everyone is in on."

Granted, I haven't read the whole article yet. But so far I'm not seeing how this qualifies as the kind of earth-shaking event you're making it out to be. It's certainly interesting, I'll grant you that.

However having political leanings one way or the other does not automatically mean you engage in biased reporting. If it did, you'd have to say that the conservative media does the same thing.
