Well movies are expensive and that is how their made, I know more on the hollywood side about how studios are failing. Even WB broke even this summer more or less with their movies which isnt good and puts them in the red. That all female ghostbusters movie from Sony of America crashed and burned and was their only movie. I am familiar with that soap opera a bit from the inside that was not chinese made in any way??? What the studio execs did to him with that movie is awful, they rejected actually making part 2, what your really seeing is more like part 3 honestly. There is a whole story in between them that not only had a treatment but the director/writer was so passionate about it he wrote it into a whole book, but the studio rejected it due to a lack of non stop action which is what we got with ID2 similar to Mad Max but with literally no story barely at all. A true shame but revolutionary in its concept and style. Shooting a movie with almost no exposition or story is unheard of and it worked, well it failed but the style is there and it is appreciated by some so who knows what that might inspire now?

Legendary Studios made the new Godzilla and Pacific Rim, more a special effects studio, but Hollywood wanted them bankrupt to buy them out at a low price which is why they didnt make a penny past their initial movies, same thing happened to Peter Jackon with the LOTR series.
