You really have no excuse not to use Linux, unless you absolutely need Windows 10 for work or gaming. But let me tell you this: for most applications, you can use Linux alternatives, run Windows applications with Wine, or even run a virtual machine (an emulated machine which you can run in your main OS, and shares hardware resources with it, but with a significant performance hit, unless you use some tech wizardry). In the most extreme case where you absolutely need all your hardware's power under the application's native operating system, you can dual-boot (have two operating systems you have to boot into separately).

As someone who dabbled in Linux for years, but actually made it my main desktop OS almost two years ago, I don't regret it one bit. If you're still apprehensive, just run it in a virtual machine on Windows to start. I'd highly recommend Ubuntu or Linux Mint if you're just starting out, since they have the most hardware support out of the box, and if you have a problem, you can just do a search and find the solution easily.

More fun stuff: Windows insists I log in with an account to be able to use apps and whenever I try and use 3DS Max or the CAD software I only recently installed on 8.1 Windows crashes. Then spends 10 minutes sending an error report. I've never been infected with malware as awful as is windows 10

Ubuntu has a software manager and even synaptic can be fairly simple. The package manager doesn't need terminal, it favors it though.

Ubuntu is the best one to popularize linux by far. However, any issue you might have, and you're back with using the terminal.
Also, their software manager sucks and that's why you never use it.
And Linux does not fix itself whenever the user does some shitty thing like shutting down the computer using the power button. Windows goes unscathed.

You can get an older Mac or a recent one if you look for deals that aren't that expensive.

Macs also keep retail value so you can resell it (Ive been doing this since 2003 with the iBooks). Also the trackpads are excellent and the screens are nice.

As far as Hackintoshes go, I was saying if you need a desktop and you're going to build one, just get a Hackintosh preferred list of parts and dual boot with Winblows and OS X and only use Winblows for lazy shit like gaming.

Once you go Mac you never go back. Give it a shot (Hackintosh it first if you have a capable desktop so you can test it for free).

And I do know apple products usually have better finishing but that is not worth paying 400€ for.

KikeOS comes preinstalled on new Windows devices, which is the reason why so many people use it. I also had the misfortune of buying a pre-used custom built tower where the user decided to "try it out" and deleted the old Win7 install entirely, but that's what Linux is for. I bought a tower with $1000+ worth of parts for $300, so I can't complain too much in that regard.

I was a hardcore Windows user since the early 90's, but as time went by I bought an iMac in the late 90s along side of Windows and slowly moved to full to Mac and never looked back.

Also don't mind the recent iOS additions to Sierra, it's still a good OS and not bloated like Microshit's offering. It literally works out of the box and includes better tools to get you going.

But they are workhorses and it's literally made me hundreds of thousands of dollars over the years.

Still on Windows 8.1 myself but that looks real shitty. For the Windows Updates and "Telemetry" though would it not just be possible to go into 'services' and disable them? I've had "Windows Updates" disabled for years without issues. (And therefore no annoying Windows 10 nag.)

The fastest GPUs are nvidia, amd isn't even close and dx12 does jack shit for them, nvidia optimized dx11 is as good as dx12. Until cards are released that offer real gains, dx12 will be nothing and hopefully vulkan has something to offer as an alternative by that time. It's already been pointed out they're so similar that making translations between them will be easier than ever before so any dx12 only games will be pure politics.

I found that for 15$ at a thrift shop dusty as hell lying on the floor. i had the spare desk with nothing on it and was overcome with the urge to rescue it and see if it worked

i cleaned all the dust off of it out of it replaced the dead PRAM battery and HDD and it worked. Turns out the owner had upgraded it to 256mb ram and i ended up putting osX10.4 on it because it was the easiest ISO to track down.

Would you happen to know much about upgrading RAM on it (i know about the back side of the board and such) i hear if you get 2 specific modules it can go up to 768mb and id kind of like to do so just for the hell of it because (atleast according to activity monitor) the biggest slowdown factor is the lack of enough RAM
