There's no settle or negotiation to a tax audit by the IRS. They're looking for fuck ups and things to catch him on.

Let us imagine, you are under audit. And they have 5 people working on it. That's five sets of eyes combing your records for an error. Now, you release all that information (which in his case is going to be huge) to the public at large. You go from 5, to probably on the order of tens of thousands of sets of eyes pouring over every detail. What retainer is going to possibly tell you in good confidence it's a great idea to do just that.

It's a risk with no pay off. The public isn't going to sift through that shit. They're going to hear a soundbite from CNN about how it proves he's a racist.
