He is right, in terms of attempts to insitute communism in Nations like Russia and China. they failed to follow the development cycle that Marx laid out where their agrarian society FIRST has to develop onto a capitalist society so the proletariat are able to come to understand their own power by themselves as opposed to being lead by a vanguard. Every example we've seen has just seen groups leap frog from agrarian to a communist state. Would it work though if people went through the cycle Marx intended? Probably not, because human nature will always make people want to fuck over each other and accumulate power.

Furthermore you can't give everyone a replicator and expect a socialist utopia to break out. Because of how society is currently set up where the idea for a lot of people is how to game the system and get the most out of it with contributing as little in return. This is true from the richest of the whites, to the poorest of the blacks. People would need to be taught that life is about working as a community for the greater good rather than setting up little boarders and fending for themselves.
