For me the main focus isn't cultural (though that's a concern too), but the practical financial outcomes of NZ's disastrous immigration policies. What's happening is that high levels of immigration are causing house prices to rise to extremely high levels (average house price in Auckland is 10 times the average wage), and is also leading to wage stagnation in many jobs. The latter also compounds the housing problem, as wages are either not rising (once inflation is taken into account) or are rising at sluggish levels, far below the soaring house prices.
