THE AMERICAN INTERNET ENDS IN 5 HOURS

What is Happening?
__

First Amendment rights will no longer apply to the Internet on October 1st, 2016. Obama is handing control of the DNS to the world on October 1st.

You just saw the effects of this from YouTube. Websites are forced to change their rules and ToS or face termination by foreign countries outside the countries in which their servers actually reside.

Why is this Happening?
__

>Wait, how does Obama hand over the keys of the internet?

The DNS Server that controls the entire internet (Everything with a .com at the end, or .org. Like youtube.com, gamefaqs.com) was controlled by the United States.

On October 1st, they relinquish control of the DNS protocol to all the foreign bureacracies of the world.

The practical effect on this is that it means other countries besides the United States can take down websites without having to go to the U.S. beforehand, which has had a history of protecting its First Amendment rights.

If the U.N. wants to take down a website for hate speech, they can do so now without any intervention by the U.S. This also means all websites that exist within DNS (this means gamefaqs.com) must answer to the laws of ALL countries, not just one.

Doesn't matter where in the world your website/server is anymore, you must respect the laws of all countries or be taken down.

Since the U.N. bans hate speech, that's out the window and so YouTube is forced to do this.

What can we do?
__
Nothing. Once control is given there's no taking it back. We had our chance to fight for free speech on the internet and lost it. It's done.

Republican Senator Ted Cruz, who lost the Republican Primary to Donald J Trump, has launched a countdown clock

cruz.senate.gov/internetcountdownclock/

Republicans are fighting to stop this deal, but they need to get past Obama's presidential veto before they can do it. Some democrats will need to be red-pilled on this issue or else it's getting veto'd

Can I have a source?

This is a GOVERNMENT Website. (.gov). There is no denying it's credibility because it comes straight from the white house.

If you want alternative sources, however.

No one gives a fuck cunt

[REDACTED] bloody fucking ((( [REDACTED] ))) pieces of shit

Motherfucking contingency plans

Shit last minute bullshit

Better to have a plan or you plan to be lunch

yeah, to be honest it's going to be hard for this to be enforced
there is no international internet court
a website owner can just tell the other countries to fuck off
what are they gonna do?

Who cares, let it end.

The world deserves to suffer for millennia

Fucking nigger globalist fuck.

Technologically illiterate members of Congress and Attorneys General got schooled by people who actually know what the fuck they're talking about. Nothing's going to happen, quit bitching.

>Republican Senator Ted Cruz

Right now all the US Department of Commerce does is rubberstamp changes ICANN suggests to the root zone.

This was not a problem when there was only .com, .gov, .org etc., but now there is .xyz, .agency, .club etc. Needing approval for each DNS change is silly. This has been long planned anyway.

Also, Cruz's website ( tedcruz.org ) says he wants to abolish the department of commerce. So he's mad the agency he is trying to abolish is losing rubberstamp power for this. Control it didn't even gain until 1998.

>Cred Forums's face when they try to censor speech

>You just saw the effects of this from YouTube. Websites are forced to change their rules and ToS or face termination by foreign countries outside the countries in which their servers actually reside.

Solution: buy a server inside America. Us Americans won't see any change in our Internet, at least.

>If the U.N. wants to take down a website for hate speech, they can do so now without any intervention by the U.S.

Nobody gives a shit about the UN. It's not going to be the UN doing it. Instead every bullshit SJW organization you can think of will appeal their own domestic "cultural" or "tolerance" councils who will then have their legal system instruct ICANN to shut the site down. Remember that skypes work behind proxies, they never get their hands dirty and never act directly.

Feel like a holiday senpai?

this
the UN can't shut down a US server without going to court in the USA (won't win) or trying to extradict a US citizen (won't happen)
a website owner can just tell the UN or whatever organization to fuck off and take them to American court if they want it taken down, where they won't win because US precedent for the 1st Amendment is strong

>a website owner can just tell the other countries to fuck off
>what are they gonna do?
Remove his domain name registration so 99% of normies can't get to his site anymore. Now ANY country can have you removed if they find your views disagreeable.

the UN has never been able to enforce that kind of power

Either Obama is trying to fuck up America because he knows Trump is winning or he's just going full tribal ooga booga kill whitey now that he's almost gone

Because the US controlled the domain name registry, duh. Now the UN controls it. It will sit in their backyard. They can remove whoever they want. That is why this shit is important.

>the UN can't shut down a US server
They don't need to "shut down" the server. All they have to do is remove its DNS registration. Then nobody can get to it. Which will be in their power, and the US can't do shit about it.

>First Amendment rights will no longer apply to the Internet

so.. are they gonna come get me when i say nigger 99999 times tomorrow ?

>First Amendment rights will no longer apply to the Internet on October 1st,

Wtf are you talking about? They don't apply on any privately owned (as in, non govt owned...which is nearly everything) website either you fuckwits. It literally works the same way as Walmart being able to throw you out worry free for sperging about the elders of Zion in real life ffs, and the handover changes nothing in that regard.

As for China and Russia pressuring the in body to censor more down the road, that's a lil different. (Although in all honesty, our govt hasn't been super great at handling it's power over the web either...pretty sure they made a movie pretty recently about it I think)

leave it to a fat burger otaku to be retarded
Since 1998 there has been a transition going on to ICANN that plays a very high-level contribution to how internet is organized, they basically coordinate and assign top level domains to ip addresses, basically providing available entries to be passed on by registrars. This has nothing to do with controlling websites or contents. They don't even control access, (that's the ISPs job). So, nothing is being "handed over." It is moving it to a multi-stakeholder organisation, which was already playing a role since 1998. If anything, it should help guarantee a more open internet, cause now the US Government's NTIA has less of a direct role in it.

Amerifats confirmed for not knowing shit about how their own internet works, what a world

how am I wrong, then?
