US Health Insurance

How bad is health insurance in the states? Do companies often deny coverage?

Is what you pay very different from our taxes?

pls respond

for you, jeb, a nice bowl of quac, spiced ever so slightly with some sage

i hate i hate you

Health insurance is barley affordable unless you have multiple people within a family throwing in cash to help pay. If you don't have health insurance you are penalized every year that goes by. The first penalty is roughly $400 USD and doubles every year your uncovered. Which is why I'm voting for Trump. I'm hoping he will do away with that. All in all your fucked if you do and fucked if you don't.

I owe $900 dollars in taxes because I couldn't afford health insurance. How the fuck do they expect me to get it now.

>USA health insurance 0/10

On top of that fucking medication is expensive. For instance Asthma Inhalers in Canada 2 for $40 in the USA 1 for about $500...

health insurance in the US is like a health mafia, deciding what procedures you're allowed to have as well as how much hospitals are reimbursed (average is around 28% of what the hospitals bill)

Before Obamacare I only paid 200 a year to be on my parents plan as a student. Now I automatically get kicked off at 24 and opt for 200 a month. Not terrible but still not ideal.

i bought my own plan around 2005. it was $80 / month. if i needed to visit the dr. it was like $40, the ER was $100. prescriptions were like $6 for generic brands. if i snapped a leg or whatever i would have to buy the equipment like crutches ect myself, and once the total cost reached $500 i'd get it back in a check. since obummercare came about my same plan went up in cost every year and now im paying ~$160 / month for the same exact plan

Basically health insurance pre Obama was better than what we have now.

That's a federal tax? or does this vary with states

That blows.

Would anyone want Canada's system?

who is this? holy shit shes fucking hot

It's shit.
It was shit before Obamacare that we couldn't afford
Its shit now with Obamacare that we still cannot afford but now they get mad at us for not buying the bullshit and we get penalized each year for not having it.
I paid 350 dollars last year in hospital bills and 150 dollars in medicine whereas if i had insurance i would pay 150 and 50 as well as an additional 1500 just to have the insurance

Federal tax, state takes are generally manageable at about $30-100 per tax year.

literally wtf

You get kicked off at 26.

Still bullshit though.

Taxes*

>ameriblubbers rather barely afford to pay insurance companies for shitty coverage rather than have single payer cuz socialism
Can't make this shit up

Agreed. Wow.

Does she know jujitsu?

It literally costs money to breath is the USA if you have asthma..

I could get like five for free here lol

Also the new laws have banned all catastrophic insurance plans basically those plans were cheap ass plans for younger people.

Make her Queen of Cred Forums please.

I also may have exaggerated the cost but the price is still up there. Which is a huge burden for many.

It literally costs money to eat in the us, if you want to eat. How fucked up is THAT? Everything that everyone needs to live should be free. And, we should all be good looking, smart, and immortal. And someone else should pay for this to happen.

Don't be a dick face man. I was simply trying to convey that the price for breathing medication is pricy.

>services/goods cost money

WHY ISNT EVERYTHING FREE

LIKE SERIOUSLY

THIS SHIT IS RACIST

What the hell are you talking about? You just have to shop around and find a company and plan that works for you. Personally, I get health insurance through my job with a $1k deductible, dental, and vision. A lot of healthcare is done by eating right, getting some exercise, and generally doing things that will keep you healthy and also happen to make you attractive to the opposite sex.

Did OP died after posten this?

27 they extended it last year for some reason.

I hope you guys don't get a major illness where you can't afford treatment.

I'm glad you have a job where you can afford it. For others with lower income it's not as easy as hmm let's just shop around.

It's "socialized medicine" - in the form of subsidized health care (medicare, medicaid, corporate health benefits) that have driven prices to the stratosphere.

This is by design, and a good portion of the "money printed from thin air" is designated for this purpose - so that nobody can afford to pay a doctor or hospital cash - so that nobody can get healthcare outside of the BEAST SYSTEM - so that vaccines and pharmaceuticals and dangerous treatments and procedures become the rule...

It's another aspect of eugenics that never went away, just went sort of "underground", while at the same time being more pervasive than ever before.

It's not always necessarily a bad thing, since truly intelligent people have caught on, and do their own research into nutrition, disease prevention, and seek out sensible treatments to what ails them (and one can source many needed drugs online cheaply with a minimum of effort).

>Murricans pay the same amount of tax as us and then have to pay for their own healthcare

Health insurance is made cheap by simply being a healthy individual which can usually be done by living a healthy lifestyle. We invest in ourselves and earn professional credentials so that we can land a decent job with benefits. I have nothing to be ashamed of and every reason to be content.

Yeah it's easy when someone else is picking up the tab for defense and security. The same can be said of the entire Western world.

>Do companies often deny coverage?
No. The rare occasions where some old maid is denied and on the hook for $200,000 is very rare and that it why it is screamed about so loudly when something criminally unjust happens.
It is a pain in the ass dealing with the paper work and the insurance companies but that is life.

>>Big Mommy government looks after me and decides how and where I spend money for the doctor when I have a boo-boo.

>picking up the tab for defense and security
The us army exists to bomb brown countries that are rich in oil cletus, not defend Canada and western europe from the long defunct ussr

supply and demand. Don't like it, look into the causes. If it's companies charging what they can because of a captive audience, start a competing business.

If you can't do that because of barriers to entry then your problems are in regulation.

>Would anyone want Canada's system?

i dont know much about it man.
i havent even been to the doctors in years

I never said that you should be ashamed. I said that I was glad you had a good job and that it wasn't easy for lower income families to afford health insurance.

hi single payer doesn't work with niggers and spics in the country welp see ya

this is how I feel, plus with governments wanting open borders and flooding our country with unhealthy immigrants (will become obese, smoking, not caring for health) I don't see why I should want to pay for socialized healthcare. I am really healthy so individual healthcare may benefit me.

The US essentially subsidizes the rest of the world's medication. If we want Rajeev to be able to afford his inhaler for the asthma he got from huffing fumes off of the dedicated shitting streets then we get to be the lucky ones to pay for it.

medicine/surgeries are free (mostly)

Cosmetic stuff and visits to the doctor's are not free.

...

Health insurance is a racket

You have to be rich, or get insurance through your employer. My employer covers most of it. I have to pay $300 a month, and 25% of all medications. Services are only covered with approved doctors and locations.

Shit sucks, considering you'll get taxed for not being insured (now about $600 a year, may be more next year) and yet you're still taxed to pay for other people's Medicare and Medicaid.

Things like this are designed to literally, and figuratively kill the middle class.

So the left has made heath insurance a total nightmare, as they do with many things, like college, for instance, and their modus operandi as to explain the clusterfuck is to, per usual leftist doctrine, complain about the conditions their policies were implemented and, of course, demonize the private industry.

A few points:

1) The ACA made it so patients can't be denied for preexisting conditions -- which has effectively eliminated the incentive for young people to have health insurance -- which in turn made health premiums spike.

2) As with most subsidies, a carte blanche govermment attitude toward health coverage for the indigent has contributed to more massive health coverage spikes. Again, the left plugs their ears and complains about stagnating wages.

3) Rising healthcare prices prior to the ACA contributed to the demand of the ACA's passing, but lets not forget the virtual litany of legislation and other intervention that in effect destroyed the competitive healthcare market.

Healthcare costs have risen 800% since 1960 inflation notwithstanding, yet the nature of every other industry has been to see massive price declines. Moreover, when we look at healthcare that doesn't involve insurance coverage and other government meddling, we see stark price declines over very short periods of time, e.g. LASIK.

These policies, peddled by do-gooders, that are supposed to be a helping hand for the downtrodden, merely make things worse for them. Welfare in all forms is merely vote buying and populist pandering when you look at the destruction it causes. At best we see marginal returns at the cost of decreased prosperity for greater society.

Fuck the ACA and fuck welfare. While I'm at it, fuck sanctimonious assholes who proclaim they fight for the poor while peddling vicious, anti-imporverished-people dogma.

ALL insurance is a racket. All of it. Just very complex chicanery, seeking to separate people from their money. Insurance companies are., by nature, parasitic. Actuaries will figure out how much in losses will occur during a year, then set the price of insurance considerably higher than that, and pocket the difference. The more successful an insurance company becomes through swindling the public, the more commercials they can afford, and the nicer buildings they can own. Fuck all insurance. Just a bunch of fucking fraud artists, who suck a lot out of the economy, and provide NOTHING in return.

You can get albuterol for about $5. If you don't think it is worth $5 of your own money to stay alive, why is it worth $5 of my money to keep you alive?

Before I see myself out I'll just add that the FDA is another egregious bureaucracy wed to the market. It is responsible for innumerable deaths and it is one of the main inhibitors to what the market ought to be doing, or constantly improving. It's a real testament to the free market that despite encroachment and other red tape America's healthcare system still innovates.

Look up the prices. I did. An inhaler of Albuterol is $5.

>How bad is health insurance in the states?

seriously dealing with it at all is similar to allowing the mafia total control over your bank account and credit line

>pooling risk
>a racket
Wow you are an idiot.

Look at that, everything the government got involved in got more expensive. I think we need a little more and everything will be alright.

It's not free unless you're a poorfag. Chances are you pay more in taxes if you make about ~60k a year than a burger does for a reasonable health insurance.

my dad has to pay like $850 a month for our health insurance since obamacare came out

nah he's right though, insurance is an immoral scam

WHAT IN THE ACTUAL FUCK

Here is about R$30 (less than 10 dollars) the inhaler+plus the medicine, if you don't get it for free.

Americans can't be this cucked, jewed and lobotomized. I trully hope I'm wrong and just misunderstood it.I literally can't even more so.

No, the US military exists to keep the international free trade order relatively peaceful and secure.

Thank you for clarrifying what he said with a well reasoned argument and no appeal to sentimentality... oh, wait, nevermind.

Really now, how does anyone think like this?

Each person involved in the insurance program ackowledges that the future is unknown and they collectively share its risk together.
And voluntarily i might add.
Anyone that believes insurance is a racket either has never considered what insurance represents, or has never purchased an insurance policy that was not mandated by the state.

>And voluntarily i might add.
>buy insurance or your next visit to the hospital will leave you $200k in debt
""""""voluntary""""""

It's not that expensive. More like $20 for the medication and the inhaler itself is like $5.

$400/month with a $6800 out of pocket first scenario. Total bullshit.

Defense spending is something like 7billion while taxes are 4 trillion.

Military spending is a drop in the bucket.

Thanks for proving my point about state involvement and your lack of understanding of what insurance repressents in the market.

Back2reddit with you friend.

fuck you fuck "(((the market)))"

>not just getting culled from the gene pool entirely for having poor genetics

That's off by a factor of 5x to 10x, but the price DID spike. Here's what actually happened:

1.
> be albuterol
> patent expires
> plentiful and cheap inhalers cost about $5 to $15

2.
> Congress decides asthma inhalers are a source of CFCs
> muh ozone layer
> because the method of delivery changed, albuterol can be re-patented

3.
> be albuterol
> can now charge $50 to $100

When most people tell this story, they eliminate the step in the middle. Drugs can't just get "repatented" because some company feels like it. Congress deliberately stepped in, and guess who wrote the anti-CFC legislation?

Hang on though, how does changing the propellant make the active ingrendient repatentable again?

That's literally retarded.

You mean $6-7 hundred billion?

They had to design new inhalers which were patent-able. It didn't just knock generic albuterol inhalers off the market but even ephedrine inhalers that you could buy for a few dollars without a doctor.

It's a rigged system and Obamacare preserved and even protected ever single rotten part of it.

> buy housing or you're sleeping in the rain and arrested for vagrancy
> buy food or you starve
> voluntary

WTF is that shit, right?

Safe to assume that obama care ruined healthcare entirely.

You don't patent the active ingredient, you patent the whole thing. The approval process often costs hundreds of millions and takes years, so genetics have to piggyback on approval for the big pharma companies that developed them initially. If the old version is banned because MUH CFCs, you're stuck without generics until the new patent ends, as any generic who tries to work around it will be piggybacked upon by other generic manufacturers and will never recoup the costs of regulator approval.

>pays taxes
>oh my healthcare is free

Health insurance is pretty good if you live in a State with medicaid and earn below the federal poverty level.

pls be my ai gf

>Things like this are designed to literally, and figuratively kill the middle class.
Seeems like it

You pay slightly cheaper taxes yet you must pay hundreds for healthcare

I understand its not free, I meant it's covered by taxes

good as long as you don't have niggercare then nobody will take your insurance that you are now mandated to buy

for me at least, drugs are cheap. premiums for something serious are so high only good for catastrophic failure.

doesn't work under obamacare either since the deductible is sky-high and they're still paying out of pocket on top of paying for insurance which makes them even poorer in the long run.

gotta understand that short of breaking 4 bones or losing a finger, the actual insurance pay isn't going to get triggered. if the nignogs can't afford 20k yearly salaries before forced to pay for insurance, they sure as fuck can't afford

my dad had a good insurance plan and they still charged him 50 dollars for most his prescriptions. on top of 300 our so a month.

THICC

lolwut
I don't have health insurance, just say "i cant afford it" on turbotax and gg no fee

he had so many doctor/er visits he still made out like a bandit I'm sure. hehe

huh? you have to pay a fee if you don't buy health insurance? why is this?

im a leaf, but for some reason Cred Forums thinks im in the states.

Nice integers

Our health insurance is absolute shit. You get one major illness and the credit score you've worked your entire life to get in good standing is ruined. It's a racket.

Cred Forums Pass user since January 2016.

OP, why would you post that when she told you not to?

Most of us used to have it through our employers, with the worker paying an average of $80/mo in premiums. The recession fucked a lot of people up though, and they're working part time for no insurance and are forced to go through Obamacare.

as if she could kill me, no guns here :^)

No knives?

Yeah but she told you not to

oh shit

I'm like 99% sure I know the blonde on the left

I'd hose this MILF for days. She is so fucking hot.

You can't get obamanocare if you are white.

Try it and you'll find out about nigger racism.

>Cred Forums Pass user since January 2016.
Uhh what

at least i get exempted from paying obamacare fines because I am a filthy DACA alien desu

I'm 23 and still in school. Because of the mandate I can jerk off until I'm 26 and still be on my fathers plan. The rest of it sucks and taxes people who can't afford insurance. Also our premium skyrocket. 35% since it went in effect. We also had to change healthcare providers l.

Damn son, who's that, and why do I think she's australian.

$160 per month for insurance with a $6,000 deductible (have to have more than 6K in medical bills before I get any insurance aid). Per month fee & deductible have both doubled since obamacare. 30 year old making $34K a year.

Australians are the only beautiful white race left

I have a federal job and get a pension, retirement plan, and full federal health and dental coverage. Only make 36k a year, but raw income isn't always the most important aspect.

Have you been in the cities?
