It's not just that, but the US involvement around the world (a few hundred military bases and thousands of soldiers deployed) are what keeps the civilised world afloat.

A few years ago I was thinking differently, I hated the US domination of world politics and I expected an isolationist president to appear. Which eventually happened, because Obama was actually less interested in world politics than previous presidents. He just got caught up in the Middle East, even though all he wanted was to give speeches and announce change, he wasn't interested in waging wars.

But now I realise that if the US pulls out, the dark regimes will rear their ugly heads. It ain't gonna be only Russia with its expansionist plans, of which Crimea was just a prequel, but also China, South American shitholes, non-aligned regimes, etc.

You will lose the dollar reserve currency status if Trump gets elected, and from that point it's all gonna go downhill for you, maybe not immediately, it will be a slow progression but that's where isolationism will lead you.

At this point I'm not placing any hope in the US, I just hope the EU will start waking the fuck up and build an army and kick out all the migrants and actually work towards consolidating a real power, without US military backing. So that eventually, I hope we won't need the US to defend ourselves against potential military threats. We got the money, we got the people, we got the science and tech to support such a policy, we just don't have the political will yet.
