Really though, this whole situation has made me realize just how much money goes into our military budget from taxes. Every american citizen could have a $40,000 basic income allowance from cutting just 20% of the military budget, and we'd still have over 400 billion dollars going into our military which is exponentially more than every other country.

If you're smart enough to game the system then you shouldn't really be punished, it should however force you to push for a change in the system so that it can't be taken advantage of. This goes for taxes AND welfare. It should be noted though that taxes are harder to take advantage of than welfare, but the point still stands that you really can't be blamed for being smart enough to utilize the laws or policies that are in place to your own benefit.

The logic presented in the tweet in the OP is that you can't be mad at welfare abusers if you think Trump did nothing wrong, which is true; however, the contrapositive of this is also true: if you are mad at Trump for this tax issue, then you should ALSO be mad at people that abuse the welfare system. Personally, I don't blame people that abuse the welfare system, I blame the people that made the system broken or make people believe they need to live on welfare, aka the Democrats.

nobody has a problem with welfare. They have a problem with people taking advantage of welfare. The vast majority of people on welfare aren't even trying to improve their financial situation. Why try to get a job when the government will take care of you. Why hold back on having tons of children when the government pays you more for each child you have. Hell, they tried to make drug tests mandatory for people receiving welfare but it was struck down as a "racist" proposition.
