That's why you teach the fundamentals and if kids have issues you try to reach several tricks to see what makes sense for them. When I was a teenager studying at school, we were learning how to program in a software called "Turtle". I decided to create my own project and wrote a complete quest game in it.

Though the effort I put was respectable and the game was complete, the quests were dumb. Like "enter the door painted in the correct color" (you had to pick black cause black was my favorite color).

This Common Core shit... it's as if you took a quest I created when I was 13 y.o. and somehow used it as a basis for a math school program. Seriously: the people who created this are either saboteurs or retards, or (probably) both.

Of course thus problem is too easy for us to understand, but a more logical way for us to see it is e.g. 1000-372

972+20=992
