I checked some of these out at an exhibition a couple months ago. They can be really functional with their space and cost much less than a bigger house, which could allow one to buy more land on which to put it. If you can deal with the smaller space, you'd be fine.

The big thing, in Colorado at least, is that as long as it has the hitch and axle, you pay no property taxes on it. You can take the wheels off, build a deck over it, whatever. But no taxes as long it's got those parts.
