What's 16 x 14?

Is that enough to make up for waiting to be 30 to get your first job ?

>extent of american education

...

I want a PhD in Mathematics as well.

What did you do your PhD in? I'm but a lowly engineering student so I only know calc

>PhD in Math and only getting 300k starting

Forgot to negotiate, or just a leaf?

He fell for the stem meme

>You will never browse pre-2013 /sci/ again

Feels fucking terrible man

>Chef at Wendy's
>10" dick
>500k a year

Get on my level.

same desu

topological quantum field theory and computation

Six years later, it's still funny.

this

You get a poverty level job in graduate school. Well you should, unless you suck.

...

you teach or are paid to do research

>any job
Huh...
Oh, it's a Leafpost.

>Phd in mathematics
>Browses Cred Forums

You forgot to say you have a Phd in virginity

No taking your practical knowledge and actually doing shit eh?

Thats what I mean. Some colleges offer acceptance without a stipend though, but thats only if they seriously doubt the persons ability, or want to invite them but had too many actually good applicants.

>PHD in Mathematics
>Any job I want

>"Welcome to McDonalds, may I take your order please?"

>PhD

How much did it cost you for that worthless piece of paper?

We're talking about when you're in the actual program to get the degree, not after you have the phd.

>300k
228k (FTFY)

Yeah but then you have to do math all your life. Good for a sperg, but what about all us other Pepes?

imagine that i'm a jew in a white man's body. this is why you need autists.

>high school drop out
>learn how to drive trucks
>6 years later, owner/operator of my own business and paying myself 150k to sit on my ass

decent I guess.

You'll be a simple paper your whole life while the rest of the world earns a modest salary doing something they love.

How is this political in any way

After a certain level, even applied math isn't just plugging into a formula and crunching numbers.

>all these newfags
I can't wait for the election to be over

can you help me brah?

I've got to write a 2 paragraph ese, and it's due tomorrow and I haven't even started yet

>extent
>extend of leaf education

They will still be here, baka aussy.
Once you come here, you never leave.

Nice quints.

>germans who think they know english

>tfw no one on /sci/ wanted to take this free online math class with me
any Cred Forumslacks want to learn some math together?

coursera.org/learn/modular-forms-jacobi

If it's true, good on you. I don't have the mind for mathematics personally.

I can cite entire chunks of Livy off the top of my head and path out exact WW2 troop movements of you have me a blank map, but I can't even remember 7*9 off the top of my head. It's fucking something.

Go get hired by Goldman Sachs and crash them. After you make your millions of course.

what do you think research is you mongoloid?

Who the fuck pays teachers/professors that much? That's pretty much all you can do with a PhD in Math.

If you're a PHD in maths prove that this doesn't have any whole number solutions: x^3 + y^3 = z^3

Become a youtube-er - keep up with papers and explain things to people. Bet you'd get some views, and satisfaction.

15^2 = 225, 14 and 16 are one away from 15 in opposite directions so subtract 1^2
225-1^2 = 224

Number theory is for plebs.

>unironically expecting someone to type out the proof by infinite descent
zzz

Every rich fuck has an accountant

foreveralone anime autist trustfund baby, lmaoing at your life

But a PhD in math won't teach you to be an accountant. It only teaches you the math part.

Then be an actuary.

>mfw I just typed that in WA

holy shit it's real

It's merely role-playing from mums basement

So you're not a PhD in maths... why lie on Cred Forums of all places? Sad!

i never said i was, can you mongols not into reading comprehension

i'm a mere master's student

I thought you were the OP, sorry.

Even someone with a PhD wouldn't do that kind of proof on here.

>yfw

I got a PhD in Mathematics and my starting was 900k with a complematary lambo. hehe retard

>dad was truck driver
>Go to college cause why not
>major in math
>currently getting masters
>probably going to try and get phd
>after this is all over might just get Cdl and drive commercially.
I'd say your doing fine.

Answer, leaf

>phd in Mathematics
>starting 900k

Figures a fucking leaf would undersell themselves.

If you get that degree and start with anything sub 1.9m You might as well kill yourself. it's better than wallowing in poverty.

it's 224.
i did it on the calculator app included on my computer.
jobs like mathematics are made obsolete by such devices

>I'm but a lowly engineering student so I only know calc
You'll just have to console yourself by designing and building useful stuff.

...

I'm a Pee Age Dee in nigonometry in Zimbabwe
Starting job 500 million
Get on my level plebs

>masters in any liberal arts
>teach at any high school or community college in the country
>doctorate in any liberal arts
>teach at any university in the country
>make $$$ while doing jack shit
Why do people fall for the STEM meme again?

have you seen the computers people are building these days? they can do some nifty stuff. if some young kid can go through today's easy low level university's and get a phd then i'm sure all the computer specialists are light years ahead.

how does it feel being in an obsolete trade mathematicians?

>phd in mathematics
>forced to work in a gov mathbank until i get my judisification
>just american feels

Because after every class I feel like I'm smarter and can tackle harder questions. Now that I'm in masters level courses I can see just how simple calc 1-3 and diffy q were. also almost all of the intro proof classes.

I have heard that they are making programs that can do proofs, however these proofs tend to be incredibly long and hard to fact check since they are 100+ pages.

Also sure I'll be outdated some day but at that point humans will pretty much be obsolete.

>implying that PhD anythings even bother with multiplication when they have calculators for that shit

>BA in ME
>no job offer for 16 months
>would take 13/hr don't even care now

I Iike this meme, haven't seen it in a Iong time but its a goodie

Sorry nazibro, but the leaf didn't fuck up the sentence structure

>Bachelor in mechanical engineering
>Completing my master's in geotech
>Might start PhD soon, paid by the Uni
>The holiday I took last year was costlier than all my fee combined
feels good desu

I talked to a few professors about this, and apparently most stipends yield less wealth than if you were to claim unemployment benefits

>>PHD in Gender Studies
>>Any job I want
k yr starting

>Learnt how to trade on the Stock market at an early age.

>Day traded my way into a millionaire

>Now work for hedge fund making 600k annual

Anyone else here got a good life?

What Job can you do with a mathematics degree? I do engine engineering, repairs and design & build intake/exhaust manifolds, custom connecting rods, engine stroking and such. Never needed more than "80+10=90" or knowing how to convert inches to mm (10" = 0.25mm) and such. Genuine question.

Thats why I said it was a poverty pay. Also the pay itself is less than unemployment, however the stipend waves the tuition fee. With that your 14k~ a year turns into 25k+ (depending on the school this could be a lower bound) which I think is less than unemployment would give

who makes those computers?

In my town theres 2 options. Work at the uni to teach, or work for some space program making programs that map mars. What I hear the general rule of thumb for math jobs is either teacher or programing. I guess this is because if you can do math you have the right mind to pick up coding pretty easy (you might not be the most efficient in your coding though)

>NEET master race living off wagecucks taxes

lmao@wagecucks all the way to the bank every fortnight

Also theres a 'shit ton' of jobs in the government for math majors typically in encryption and shit like that.

I'd prefer not to be a jew desu senpai

There is always a "shit ton" of jobs until you start applying.

When I said 'shit ton' I mean relative to the amount of mathematicians with PhD's who apply. Masters and below will have trouble, yes.

>he watched an episode of numberphile and now thinks he's an expert mathematician

Certainly, I never disagreed with you.
I just recall seeing a little poster on the door to our lab with the stats about how you could be making more money by not working, to be particularly amusing when I first saw it.
God bless the American gibmedatz

Can't make sausages though can ya lad?

Didn't think so

However on this note. I went to and am currently going to a 2nd rate state uni. Yet we constantly get government people visiting us trying to show us how attractive a government job can be.

(a-1)(1+1) = a^2 -a +a -1 =a^2 -1

czechs out

Well that I can understand, there's basically no risk and most people are expected to under perform. 2 of my friends are government workers for those reasons.

>(a-1)(a+1) = a^2 -a +a -1 =a^2 -1

Computers can't understand infinity or limits completely since computers have limits. Computers can compute millions of digits but they always will have limits.

I'm sure Ti-89's can do quite a few limits.

Got to thank this thread though, motivated me to do my homework.

>1 new post
Have you ever zoomed your ti-89 to point where the function has an undefined limit.

I don't have a Ti-89, I just googled and I saw that it has a limit function.

Is a bachelor's in Math worth it, should it be paired with something or studied further as a masters or can you get a decent job as is?

most undergrads at my place were pushed to know a bit of coding since thats pretty much the only type of job you qualify for. A code monkey who can learn a little bit if needed.

haha faggot
i give you $15 a hour to teach at community college

>Automation
oh no your life is over

I fucking knew almost everyone on Cred Forums came here post 2010 at least

I miss when OP's meme was posted almost hourly. That and the "Sasha Grey reads existential literature and watches real cinema like Tarkovsky, Truffaut, Godard, and Bergman. You own every Judd Apatow movie on DVD" were straight quality.

>tfw no two natural numbers will ever have the same prime factorization

Paging doctor faggot
