A huge issue with Canada is how few locations are habitable by even Russian standards.

We have the BC coast, the Okanogan, maaaaybe Calgary, and then Montreal and southern Ontario. Add to this that the government is essentially funding the foreign takeover of our few habitable areas and you have a glimps into how fucked Canada's climate is. Something like 80% of us live within 100km of the US border our climate is so unforgiving.

If not just the climate the actual land is also a huge issue with something like 70% of the country being literal tundra or tagia (think frozen swamp). Even if it did warm up we'd basically need to be the Dutch to make that swamp half livable.
