Bumping because I forgot myself
>only going with flashlights and phone chargers incase power goes out for some reason, and some water and jack daniels, otherwise I live on 2nd floor so flooding shouldnt hurt me much
>jacksonville, it's been raining for an hour
i'm ready for matthew to throw me into the atlantic
Live in Titusville (321) and it looks like the shit's about to hit the fan. I've got my radio, batteries, water stocked up, food stockpiled, got a month's worth of basic medicine and a good supply of tobacco too.
Ready to ride this son of a bitch out.
Let it fuck up all those cities.
And you know who will visit them ?

Good luck Floridabros hold fast
I hope this hurricane doesn't pull a Sandy and go to the Atlantic states, NYC didn't have power for a week and it was awful
As a guy living in an apartment, I'm just hoping that our college closes for a day or two so I can catch up on some things
352 here. I just need to get orange and pineapple juice to make hurricanes.
>Treasure Coast
pray 4 me niggas
It's like you guys have never lived in Florida before. This is nothing but a sideswipe, at best we'll get a decent thunderstorm out of it.
321fag reporting.
321 here too. I'm looking forward to it. Shake things up a bit, creates side work too.
weather bro here
there's still a good chance of a sideswipe instead of a direct hit. the storm center might move any number of paths through the red area, which will change based on future observations. my client's client makes more money if it does hit though. :/
stay safe and watch the fucking forecasts.
People are losing their shit down here in Stuart/Jensen beach area. Considering heading up to my parents in brevard but looks like that's gonna basically be the same thing.
Fuck off man. When Charlie came through power was out for a week. Hell on earth. Curfews, panic buyers, no way to cook, no ac. Disaster. White man shouldnt live in florida. Not without ac anyway.
Yeah, pretty much. We're gonna get wind, rain, maybe a storm, and that's it. But for us floridians just make sure you're okay incase some shit does go down. a little bit of precaution goes a long way.
Nice to meet another Tampa bro (granted, closer to the bay then Tampa itself)
NC coastal engineer here.
Not looking forward to cleaning up my yard, but am looking forward to another 1-5 years of guaranteed work.
754 here. We've already been issued a tropical storm watch. Wish me luck anons.
Do you think it might hit NJ (which will also hit NYC)? Not having power for a few days would be bad but it would also be worth it to not have class for a few days.
Nothing will happen. It never does, hurricanes here are overhyped as fuck 99% of the time. The news outlets just run it 24/7 because it gets viewers.
Hurricane Matilda*
Male names for natural disasters come from the Jews.
I will never go along with that.
hey I'm in Tampa, how will I be affected?
If it skirts the Atlantic coast what will winds be like in Tampa?
Or just the general situation for Tampa period is what I'm interested in
Hard to top Charlie, was a 321 fag in Cocoa when that shit fucked us pretty hard, though our house wasnt that badly damaged at least
Been through tons of tropical storms and weak hurricanes but havent been through any majors since Charlie so Im ready for that sweet stand outside in the heavy winds feel
Central Florida here. The place I'm living in now was built to be hurricane proof, so hopefully nothing will cause too much damage.
I have a shit ton of water and some batteries.
You won't get anything worse than rain. If anything, it'll draw away all the moisture and you'll have really nice weather. Of course, if it changes path and cuts across the state you could be in for some fun. Best place to watch the storm is on the skyway, you should go stay there.
Doubtfully but you can never be sure
954 bro here. Publix was swamped at 8:30 and this morning by people stocking up.
I rolled my eyes and did my usual shopping.
I was about to say no one was flipping out here but someone in my office just now got the alert on their phone that we are under "Hurricane Watch" and now everyone is excitedly worrying and shit.
>not shooting your mormon neighbors
It's like you want to be miserable
Lived here my whole life, don't believe the hype.
Fuck the jews and their scare tactics, the idiots here are running around like it's ground zero buying up everything - makes me laugh.
So there's still a pretty good chance it could ride right up the center of Florida?
I mean the entire storm appears to be wider then the whole peninsula
You're fine. Building code in FL is the highest in the nation for a reason. Anything Cat 3 or below will just cause minor/cosmetic damage to structures. Most damage will be from windborne debris and falling trees.
Cat 4 and things get dicier but FL would still make it out ok.
Cat 5 is a shitstorm and you better hope your home is made of reinforced concrete or the storm is moving very fast. Sustained winds of those types will eventually fuck up all but the very best wood construction.
I remember when Hurricane Floyd trolled us all into buying out the grocery stores and evacuate.
Well they switched it from going off to the Atlantic to going along the east coast of FL so I dont see why the possibility of it shifting even more west wouldnt be in question
Though I hope it doesnt go too far west because I really dont want it hitting Tampa hard and shutting down power here
Yeah we'll be fine, that Gulf Stream that blows west to east across central Florida always saves us at the last minute (Tampa Bay Area resident). Def stocking up on booze for the hurricane party this week tho
why do you always leave me out
Have you ever been hit dead on by a Cat 4 before?
You're right, there aren't any major running rivers nor large fluctuations in elevation so flooding will mostly just be still water. As long as you're not living inside a trailer you'll probably fine. Althought it will be pretty spoopy listening to the 100mph winds over your house. Worst thing you have to worry about is nearby rivers and retention ponds flooding into your house.
don't be a fag, I want it to hit Tampa. I want a happening
New Port Richey, not looking forward to the fucking bands.
I guess Georgiafags can come chill too so long as I dont get repeating digits
Florida user here. Ive lived here my entire life and was just born when Andrew hit, been through wilma, ike, etc. my gf hasnt really been throughba hurricane and im prepping her. She got 6 cases of water, just in case and im about to hit up publix to get some essentials she didnt know she needed. Im a little worried, its been almost ten years and while i always prepare for shit like this (have a bug out bag always in my car or house) i think this is going to do some damage. For all Florida Anons there a sale on a decent flashlight at walgreens for less than ten bucks, if you need a flashlight. Im prepared. Pic related, FIU taken ten minutes ago
772 checking in
Im happy as fuck this hurricane is coming. Have a calculus 3 test scheduled for thursday.
NPR here as well. I hope we are consumed by the dark skies.
Any chance it will move West and cover all of Florida?
i hope so
I have a few friends in South Carolina are they going to be ok?
What school you going to?
Depends how close to the coast they are, if theyre like a good 40+ miles from the coast the most theyll get is some heavy rain and light wind
yea pussy
Charlie was a pretty top kek for us tampafags. They were predicting it to fuck us up and then at the last minute it takes a hard right and fucks Port Charlotte/Punta Gorda's shit and all we get is some generic thunderstorm weather.
I hope none of you die.
I hope I die
I wish it would at least kill some of the crackheads.
Or flood that trailer park over by the US 19 walmart out like it always does, thats always funny.

Now that that's out of the way...
I've lived in Florida for 18 years now (came down in high school) so I'm old enough to remember all of them... been through quite a few hurricanes.
The eye of this one is going to be closest to land when it's even with Palm Beach county... and then it'll STILL BE 90 MILES OFF SHORE (By NOAA/gov's best projections)
That means it'll be tropical storm force winds because we'll be hit by the outer bands... which means maybe a few weak trees fall over and some power outtages.
I'm not worried until the eyewal is projected to hit, but I'm am ALWAYS prepared for a hurricane because I've been here long enough to know you simply have to be if you live here.
kek hard at all the people who run around freaking the fuck out trying to buy supplies last minute every time.
Still never know, these things can be hugely unpredictable, remember how crazy of a path Ivan started developing?
My back porch is gonna get torn apart.
Did anyone get this from the last storm that hit us a few weeks ago?
>hits: nothing
>3 or so days after it had already hit: STORMING OUT MY ASS
>In Maryland
>Hurricane still powerful enough to reach us
SHEEEIIIIITTTT!
Fort Pierce in a trailer on the coast. If it hits my house is fucked, but we're taking pets to mother in laws cbs home in Vero.
former 813 fag that moved to 407 we'll be fine
All those fuckers in those stilt houses are laughing at US now.
I'm here bro. Hope we make it okay.
fuck florida
i should not be getting your guyses hurricanes up here in delaware, this is the second time this year
don't forget, hurricanes are the souls of niggers angry about slavery coming to attack us from africa
clearly you are at fault for slavery
How is Stuart and Jensen beach doing these years? I haven't been back home in over 10yrs kinda missing the place.
this tbqh
Bout the same as 10 years ago. No changes cept getting Wawas now.
I live in NC and work for a duke energy contractor. I was in north Florida for storm work when Hermine hit. I made 1,777.00 within a week and a half.
Kek wills it. Let the good times roll
There more people down there?
Fug.. I was hoping to fly south for the long weekend.. Should I not?
once it passes
God damn snow birds on muh 95 freeway
St. Petersburg here. I know we are overdue and our day of reckoning is coming, but it is not this hurricane.
When that day comes, the devastation will be incredible. We flood so easily.
Not much since housing bubble crashed. Same as 06-08
Prop value damn near doubled since 2011 though
>tfw moved out to lakeland to go to school at Florida Polytechnic from St. Pete
Please let us get slammed by this one I've wanted a hurricane so bad for years and we'll finally get another one. Central Florida is a shithole but a hurricane will make it all better for a little while.
Fucking snowbirds, REEEEEEEEEEEEE.
Come down leaf, enjoy the hurricane parties.
Friendly reminder that the Disney Corporation caused global warming as part of an elaborate plan to turn Disney World into a sovereign island nation.
818 bro visiting 954. how badly is this going to suck?
>tfw 407
Seminole here. Not worried at all since its on the west side of FL.
Me too. There seems to be quite a few titusville posters.
Charleston bro here. Actually sitting outside typing this. Last hurricane missed us at the last moment. Hoping to get lucky again.
757 bro preparing for shit to hit teh fan.
Last time we had 100+ mph winds was Hurricane Isabel and nearly ever tree in my neighborhood fell over. Several fell onto my house.
There are dozens of us.
I expect work to be nuts as we try to move equipment assets from the east coast while still attempting to meet deadlines.
Basically my day is going to consist of telling people to do something despite already telling them not to. Middle management sucks.
I am in Charleston right now.

Another meme hurricane.
Jacksonville fag, been through some some pretty bad hurricans. Not worried. Have bug out bag, guns, and supplies always in standby just in case
>Matthew
What a gay name
Imagine being killed by such a gaily named hurricane

I work at publix and seeing retards filling shopping carts with gallons of water is fucking hilarious
Back I. 04/05 when those 3s and 4s hit central Florida directly was a shit shown had live oaks getting ripped out if the ground
A conceited Willow had once the vanity to challenge his mighty neighbour, the Oak, to a trial of strength. It was to be determined by the next storm, and Aeolus was addressed by both parties to exert his most powerful efforts. This was no sooner asked than granted, and a violent hurricane arose; when the pliant Willow, bending from the blast, or shrinking under it, evaded all its force; while the generous Oak, disdaining to give way, opposed its fury, and was torn up by the roots . Immediately the Willow began to exult, and to claim the victory; when thus the fallen Oak interrupted his exultation: “Callest thou this a trial of strength? Poor wretch! Not to thy strength, but weakness; not to thy boldly facing danger, but meanly skulking from it, thou owest thy present safety. I am an oak, though fallen; thou still a Willow, though unhurt. But who except so mean a wretch as thyself would prefer an ignominious life, preserved by craft or cowardice, to the glory of meeting death in an honourable cause?”
Charleston reporting in. Looks pretty meh for us but surprised NC has issued a state of emergency while we're just on snooze mode. Downtown gets submerged after a decent rain so I figured this would be cause for alarm.
intellicast.com
It's starting to move west. If it move a few degrees further to the left than expected then it'll probably be as bad as Andrew was. Right now it's probably close to 2/3 the size of Texas.
WEST COAST BEST COAST
Eglin AFB here
leadership shitting themselves for no reason edition
UCF here.
Hopefully class gets cancelled.
one of my favorite parts of hurricanes is that every animal is no where to be seen the day before. they all have left and made shelter for themselves because they know its coming
who else here /matthew/?
Please directly hit DC in a Katrina-sized disaster.

Time lapse of Andrew if anyone is interested.
>New York
slightly worried but not that much here
Tampa here as well, expecting heavy rain but I doubt anything severe will happen.
youtube.com
Time lapse of Sandy. Notice the directional change to the west at ~2:20. This is what caused it to fuck New Jersey in the anus.
This usually doesn't happen, but it doesn't mean that it couldn't. Matthew's path so far is very similar to Sandy's.
All engineered storms look alike. The radar stations do not move, so neither does their area of affect.
euro incoming
Im prepared
>water wings
Check
>snorkel
Check
>flippers

I haev question
Say you got your hands on a load of vaseline, and you packed vaseline around your door and your windows, would that be enough to keep out flood water?
Been watching Matthew since it was tiny little invest 97. It's an interesting progression to say the least. The fucker hit cat 5 with winds at 160ish briefly. Earlier models predicted it would go in between the islands and not directly through Haiti.
Thanks for posting this one and Andrew. I wonder how Homestead is these days.
Engineer this.
>pic related
yeah, it is pretty unpredictable, which is making me nervous
321 here (Melbourne), guessing I won't be working Thursday or Friday. If we just get bands that means it'll be cat1 shit or TS stuff and I can deal with that.
Charleston here, people are starting to panic
Most people's mom's don't buy their food for them, so they have to plan meals for up to two weeks that can be made without cooking.
remember /georgia/? There are like 20 regular Georgiabros here
Daytona Riddle student here. They'll be moving the fleet of planes soon I reckon
Handful of people from Charleston too
kek please make this happen again
Looks like it will
Same, kind of worried my apartment (plaza) will fall down if it's over 100mph winds. this place feels fragile af.
Jacksonville. The city so nice they named it... Jacksonville.
Hello Neighbor
The leak is gonna be that Hilary has a weather gun, but they won't release the leak until after Florida is destroyed,
Jackson is based
Comfy afternoon thunderstorms in 941, eat shit east coast FL, bay area master race
>Curfews
how does that work?
Melbourne, FL here. It is going to be just off the coast. Not worried at all, we have seen way worse here.
Former Port Charlotte fag here. Was there for Charlie as well. Got a litte freaked out cuz house was on a canal that connected to Gulf. Lucky storm moved so fast really not much storm surge. PC didn't get it nearly as bad as Punta Gorda, they got their shit royally pushed it.
Kinda for the best though, PG was a shit hole that was way over due for a overhaul, Charlie just fast tracked it.
Wilmington NC reporting.
Wish me luck bros.
We gonna eat shit on Saturday
Based Seminole County here. Moderate winds, 25-40mph. rain squalls. Shouldn't be to bad though. Brevard County will get fucked.
I see Chuluota and Geneva in NorthEast Seminole getting gator migrations from the Econ river and Lake Jessup.
Track moves more out to sea now
Source : Weather underground
Beach erosion should be heavy. Intercoastal my get some surge.
Not from Florida (N.E.) but these HARRP bastards are shitting all over us.
We're still waiting on the Euro model. It's having a delayed release. Currently at 24 hours forecast.
Classes will probably get cancelled, unless it stays very far from the coast. The school has to consider that a lot of students are even up in palm beach and shit
>Please directly hit DC in a Katrina-sized disaster.
YES! Poseidon hear our pleas
>drop shipments of ice incoming
be nice to your fellow grocery fags, Hurricane scares are a fucking hassle and a half.
Almost to the Florida update
We're gonna hunker-down and ride this bitch like your Fat Aunt Glenda. Unless all the niggers drown a la Haiti, its nothing.
Sup jax bro
I didn't know we had so many Florida friends here. I love all of you.
OP here, just got back from classes, incase anyone else is still on this thread I made a new one with a more updated starting post.
Which Miamifag is having a hurricane party?
At 42 hours it's still heading west
Not following any of the tracks from WU
Don't be a faggot. Francis knocked our power out for 16 days that year. So we stayed sweaty and drunk and cooked outside.
Also, the strongest part of the storm is always the Southeastern quadrant. It'll stay off land, the yankees will be hit on the coast, and us Based Floridians inland will be fine.
Here for vacation at Disney and universal

Probably going to buy a bottle of something and sit in the hotel room for when the hurricane hits
I'm not worried. Wife is in panic mode right now. Odds are it will totally miss us anyway, and I'm 561 which is where it's expected to hit (if it does).
I expect some wind and rain. Nothing too bad.
Wow. Justin Wilson. Hadn't thought about that guy in years.
