Yeah, of course I did. I have absolutely no idea what to think about it at all. I think I'll have to give it another listen.

Don't be afraid to say it was shit. Apparently it was so bad that Davison requested the author never be hired again.

No, it's not that at all user. I legitimately don't know what to think about it.

It's absolutely full of things that I've never heard in other BF audios before, and it's really weird.

like rape?

Rape/mutilation/gutting/blood-letting etc

Thanks for the indepth answer, I find comparing /who/ to other places really interesting, but have no desires to actually explore most of those places myself so appreciate anons who discuss the other places with me.

Could s11 talk about how Brendan Cox repeatedly sexually harassed people wherever he worked?

There's, genuinely, some analyses to be made here.

>The Doctor has always been transgender!

I hope no one ever disrespects the Twelfth Doctor the way Moffat disrespected the Tenth Doctor. In "Day of the Doctor", Ten repeats his unforgettable final words "I don't want to go," and Eleven immediately undercut it with a joke that simultaneously disrespected both Ten's final words and his entire personality. And then when it came time to write the Twelfth Doctor's last words, Moffat literally took Ten's and inverted them. "I don't want to go" / "Doctor, I let you go". I get it, Moff, you didn't like "The End of Time"; neither did any of us. Ten's final words were completely trash, I agree. But mocking and parodying them doesn't make any progress toward remedying the error. It just makes you look bad in reflection.

>But mocking and parodying them doesn't make any progress toward remedying the error. It just makes you look based in reflection.
Fixed

t. moffat

him saying "i dont want to go" again, thus keeping his final words the same, was a great idea. the joke ruined it

The fact that there's a BBCWW showcase tomorrow, with exclusive previews of upcoming shows. And the fact the former brand manager has pretty much said yes, they'll be showcasing the new branding/logo tomorrow so it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to also unveil it to the public to save it leaking.

Marcelo is dead in a steel crate at the bottom of the Atlantic

>the joke ruined it
The joke made it. It retroactively redeems his final line by making it not a damning final pronouncement on all of Who or the very concept of regeneration, but an idiosyncratic (and in retrospect, even funny) aspect of 10's character that deserves to be lightly poked fun at.

>no fun allowed

Do we know he's former? He seems to know a lot about the current production.

>the way Moffat disrespected the Tenth Doctor.
>implying that Ten wasn't already ruined by RTD
All Moffat did was turn a really shitty line into a small little joke.

Imagine getting this mad over O N E L I N E

Probably still in the loop somewhat, but yes he left the job at the end of December. He stated it quite a few times on Twitter.

Considering he's a longtime fan of the show, I wonder what Tennant secretly thinks of TEoT, Ten's attitude to regeneration, and the way it was handled in general?

he knows about production because it was his job for years. he says he thinks the logo is gonna be revealed at the showcase, because thats what he would do

Anyone else think Capaldi's season arc(s) should have been about searching for Gallifrey?

They hype you up in the 50th with all this "home, the long way round" stuff implying indirectly and not so indirectly that the Doctors adventures will have an overarching quest.

But then Capaldi's seasons come around, and you get one scene of him being pranked by the Master and then in season 9 he just accidentally ends up on Gallifrey and doesn't really seem to give a shit (although the mystery and reveal of Heaven Sent are great).

I just feel like Capaldi never got a strong narrative overarch like Smith did with the Silence/River that made it feel like one big quest.

is it true in one of the first doctor episodes there's a 20 minute scene about barbara cleaning the tardis or something

I'm a longtime fan of the show and all that shit was one of the few bits I unabashedly loved from Tennant era, maybe he's a weirdo like me.

He loved it.
All the Doctors except Davison, Colin and Tom loved the writing during their ruin

Idunno, Matt's arcs were kind of a mess imo. I was happy to see them toned down a bit during Capaldis seasons.

Tennant had some say in the regeneration scene. There were a few takes where he was even sadder when he said the last line and Tennant decided they should go for a more mild take because it was more in-character.

Something I've been thinking about: In the Iris Wildthyme series -- I think it was "The Golden Hendecahedron"? -- it says that Iris has only one existence throughout all possible universes, and regeneration is a chance for one of the other Irises to take over. And everyone knows the idea that a Time Lord can't be killed by the same thing twice, hence how 10 survived a fall greater than the one that killed 4 (and also the Master and Missy asking how 12's been previously killed while planning his death).

The Faction Paradox audios establish that the Faction has given even its non-Gallifreyan initiates the "inherent advantages" of all Time Lords. So what would a Faction Paradoxy regeneration look like? I imagine that, if a Cousin were killed, the Faction would build a person who would not have been killed by it. Just that one psychological or physical trait fixed. Then put them through all the person's experiences, so they have a different nature but the same nurture, if you will. They should come out of it alive instead of dead; then you can graft that person's timeline onto the old one, and viola. Regeneration.

The fun bit, of course, is that this completely lines up with how regeneration works for Time Lords. "Dead Romance" shows us Time Lord agents who have regenerated into super-armoured forms to protect against past injuries, but far more common is psychological corrections: eg "Twin Dilemma" Sixie wouldn't have sacrificed himself for Peri in "Caves of Androzani", and no matter which version of Six's death you believe, Seven would've planned ahead enough to not get killed.

... which would mean the Thirteenth Doctor was retroactively female even when she was the Twelfth Doctor and the Third Doctor. So

Doctor Who is dead.

iirc he picked take 3 of 4 (4 being most blubbery), but to be fair, 4 was orders of magnitude more blubby than 3

Tying it all up with a link to his cameo in Day of the Doctor, and saving Gallifrey in Capaldi's final ep would be gr8

I think all the dramatic mileage that could have been gained from "the search for Gallifrey" was summed up by the console-bashing scene in DiH, and anything beyond that would have been redundant.

No.

In "The Web Planet", Barbara is looking around and says "one of these days I'll give this place a good spring clean" (note that she says that, not the Doctor). That's all.

Why such a dramatic redesign?

haha good thing they didn't do this then isn't it

reminder that we missed out on this in 2010

CONTACT

I think the only real wasted potential was how quickly they got away from the idea of 12 being a pragmatic, sharp and morally ambiguous incarnation that would slowly become softened.

They sort of did it, but they really needed to commit to it more. Really, he should only have been "softened" by the end of series 9.

NuWhoitis. We can't empathise with a character if they don't look human, OF COURSE. (t. don't actually care about this but find it amusing)

SNAP

>morally ambiguous incarnation
Nice try Whithouse but you'll never be showrunner.

Would have preferred this tbqhm

>Really, he should only have been "softened" by the end of series 9
Agreed.

>Sixie wouldn't have sacrificed himself for Peri in "Caves of Androzani"

I've heard that sort of "only Five would sacrifice himself that way" before, and I think it's incorrect. I think you mean "Six would have been more assertive", and I agree that's probably how he would adopt; but despite Six's meanness, he'd sacrifice himself for an innocent just like Five.

(Actually, I think every Doctor would have. If a Doctor was dying, and an innocent was dying, he'd give the antidote to an innocent freely. Only War might not, and that's because he'd say "The Time War needs me.")

Did you read the pdf I emailed you yet?

What does /who/ think of Dirk Gently?

Why would he get softer at the end of S9 after going through such a traumatic experience? If anything Series 9 is only as happy-go-lucky as it is because it's setting up for a fall.

Capaldi's early series 8 outfit with the cropped hair is 12's best look.

I like how it 'timeless' it feels.

Actually, we did get another look at the "pragmatic, sharp and morally ambiguous" Twelfth Doctor in Series 10. Rona Munro almost certainly based her Twelve characterization on Series 8, because that script is the one with quirks like "Shut Up!" and I think even a "That is not the question...". It's a Series 8 Twelve ep in the middle of Series 10.

The "the doctor wasn't dark in series 9!!!!" meme needs to stop

THE DOCTOR IS NO LONGER HERE YOU ARE STUCK WITH ME
AND I WILL END YOU
AND EVERYTHING YOU LOVE

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

His sadness of losing Clara. Finding home but miserable over the consequences of it. Not being able to 'save' Ashildr from her consequences. His encounter with Davros softening him.

>a Time Lord can't be killed by the same thing twice, hence how 10 survived a fall greater than the one that killed 4
is this true?

Radiation killed 3, and then killed 10. So nope.

No but it's a nice theory. I mean, I'm sure a Time Lord can be killed by a bullet to the heart more than once. Maybe they just build up more resistance to it, but not in totality.

Meh

fuckin kino. season 1 was better than season 2. its what matt smiths era should have been i think. also bart and mona are cute

It also just looked really cool on Capals. Why oh why were they so keen to quickly turn him into a filthy-looking tramp instead? Inb4 "Hoodie".

Unironically my favourite show, I hope netflix adapts "The Hitchhikers' Guide to the Galaxy" as well

At least he looks like an old man now. Rather than an old woman.

Fuck, Jodie is gonna go full Sinead O'Connor when she leaves, isn't she?

Hey, Jenna didn't do it, maybe Jodie will be spared the curse.
Might be because Karen already absorbed all the bad voodoo when she shaved for GotG

this. the last 3 episodes were the darkest 12 ever got.

I don't remember many complaints about it. The reaction to the trampy look was much more divisive.

There were nine episodes before that though.

people were pretty disappointed by it

THIS WOULD BE GOAT

Maybe Jodie will go back brown

I don't really remember much reaction. A shame he didn't keep the black Victorian garb he wore in Deep Breath for a few eps.

Jenna went blonde. Presumably for Jodie Doctor cosplay.

rip floof

It was this year.

You're rewriting history. A lot of people didn't like the original publicity shot with the cardigan but then thought it looked really cool and Classic Series-esque in action with the waistcoat. The rocker look is still controversial.

That looks awesome.

Not really for anything, I just thought it'd be a simple and fun thing to do since I'm fairly amateur at modelling. Hopefully I'll get to a point where I can model my own interiors. And corridors.

normies liked his later outfits more, fact.

Normies don't care because they don't care about Capaldi. They couldn't give less of a shit about his outfits because they literally don't notice it.

and what are you basing this off of

the guitar on a tank was one scene

and in the next story he's accused by one of the team of letting people die to test out his theory

on balance he seems dark enough

Twelve's attitude overall in Series 9 seems less glum. And there's less of the "Clara and 12 are mutually dysfunctional" arc, at least in terms of explicit screentime. Twelve and Clara get along in S9, and most of the threats are external monsters, rather than the turbulent internal stresses in Series 8.

Most of his dialogue in Series 9 was taken straight out of the "How to Write for Matt Smith" guidebook. It was jarring hearing what was coming out of Peter's mouth. It didn't fit. Nor did his lovey dovey pining after Clara.

Literally fuck off Hoodie. Don't you have better things to do, like writing about how you hate women?

>Nor did his lovey dovey pining after Clara.
When did that happen?

Not Hoodie.

>Most of his dialogue in Series 9 was taken straight out of the "How to Write for Matt Smith" guidebook

He's probably referring to when 12 begged Davros to not kill Clara (I remember complaints about that back when Series 9 was airing); and the way the last 2 episodes were focused on Clara. I think it's because that level of devotion is usually seen in romance; but 12's been devoted to Clara since at least the "one betrayal wouldn't be enough for me to abandon you" in Series 8.

Mel user is a whole other kettle of fish.

cristobal seems to be the most popular choice on here. i'm gonna be disappointed when it's not him, i'd love to see his take on doctor who.

>He's probably referring to when 12 begged Davros to not kill Clara
people make fun of that but i remember finding it quite affecting at the time

Dr. Funkenstein, Basil, Dude etc. Generally sounding like a manchild.

Would love to see this fellow have a whirl at Who too youtube.com/watch?v=QYp60omjVSw

youtube.com/watch?v=swbjXKtkyLA

jk im like... 90% joking

youtube.com/watch?v=SLjGluyOzsU

It was mostly Series 9.

wtf I love Doctor/Clara now

pretty fitting considering Jodie's role in Attack the Block

I, too, like that scene. It's supposed to be emotionally uncomfortable. But I think seeing the Doctor beg made him seem cringey or beneath himself, especially since it was for Clara, which a lot of people don't like.

> Dr. Funkenstein, Basil, Dude etc. Generally sounding like a manchild.

>Dude

Twelve was intentionally out-of-character in that scene, and both Clara and Missy noticed the weirdness

Concerning "Dr. Funkenstein" and "Basil", if Eleven had been doing that, it would have been to be cool. Twelve's not really doing that to be cool. He's doing that because he's in a position of authority that he dislikes, working with a UNIT organization he thinks are advanced idiots, on the whole. He does it to be flippant.

> Generally sounding like a manchild.

So far, you've chosen one ep where he was explicitly out-of-character due to fear of death, and another where he was being flippant to government, while being asked about his name, a question that he's always not taken seriously.

I think the issue is that it's rare for people to see in real life and in fiction, 2 people with 12 and Clara's devotion to each other who aren't in love, so people end up saying "12 is in love with Clara!"

(I'm a Twelve/Clara shipper, so I understand it.)

It doesn't help that the Series 9 finale basically said that Twelve and Clara were platonic soulmates.

Mr Overlord whats up

What it do fellow user

Any other old school /who/res stick their head in every now and then?

Just to see what's going on since I left over Whittaker?

I used to trip, I kinda miss this place, but the show's done as far as I'm concerned.

Not trying to enflame, just wondering if there are others like me, or if everyone just stayed on, happy with it?

u like the photoshops?

He was flippant to authority figures in Series 8 in a sarcastic and deadpan way. Pluck any line out of The Girl Who Died too. The humour of the Doctor clearly became sillier between seasons. You might think it changed for the better but it noticably changed

Remember when /who/ found your Minecraft Doctor Who roleplay channel and you said you were leaving forever?

Series 8 deleted scenes

Fark off and stay farked off.

Which trip were you?

Seconding the question of which trip you were. And how 'old school' are we talking here? Because Whittaker was only about half a year ago.

t. Schlemihl

Schlemihl's been here since the reveal though? I thought he posted one or two DWMs? Memory might be cheating though.

that's not very nice user

I was Gaggy. Lurked and user'd for years, only ever used the trip for relevant Foreman infiltration activities.

I agree that it changed, and I understand if you dislike it, because no humor works for everyone. But I disagree that it's Matt Smith 2.0--Series 10 Twelve may not be Series 8 Twelve, but he's still a version of 12, distinct from Eleven's brand of humor.

I hope you're here in October! Series 11 seems like it'll be pretty good. By the way, do you know about Shit Trips 2.5 submissions?

Thank you for the information you leaked, we've made good use of it. Well, we still haven't finished the Foreman audio yet, I don't think we ever will. But we got pretty close.

Surprised by: the Doctor having chest bumbs

>I doubt I'll stick around, but I might pop my head in once or twice.

I honestly hope you do.

Concerning Shit Trips, the current submission guidelines for Shit Trips 2.5 is

The stories must be about:

> alternate Doctors (original Doctors, fanmade Doctors, Unbound Doctors, Doctors of wild divergence from canon)

> spinoff characters from audios, books, comics, etc (Torchwood, Erimem, Faction Paradox, Vienna, Sarah Jane Adventures, Iris Wildthyme, etc)

>companion focused stories (stories with the companion facing a threat, or dealing with life, WITHOUT the Doctor)

I'm sure a Foreman story, or script, or any other story you wrote obeying the above guidelines, would be appreciated.

We eagerly await your next graphic masterpiece.

not sure if ur memeing or not, but im wordied im gonna be a little disappointed after Capaldi. However, shes perfectly passable and the casuals wont care. shes more marketable than Capaldi, because shes young and pretty. shes already got an advantage in terms of popularity

She's 35.

Quick solution to all of this.

Stop watching the New Series.

Just stop. Turn off the TV, don't pay it any mind. Let's talk about Briggs Finish instead

I feel like fan reaction to Hell Bent is actually a lot like fan reaction to The Last Jedi, where people built up hype for what they wanted to happen, and when the outcome was more about the characters than the plot, they were disappointed. FWIW I'm a DW and Star Wars fanboy and I loved both HB/TLJ, but I get why people have issues with them

We will get Lego doctor who movie

Fuck off judy

Good analogy.

I think a lot of fans wanted Hell Bent to be this massive epic Gallifrey story: the Doctor vs Rassilon; a Hybrid monster; scenes in places like the Panopticon; etc.

I think Joe Kraemer might be replacing Marigold. He's a self-confessed fanboy and even worked on Big Finish, plus he's not scoring the new Mission Impossible movie for some reason so his schedule is clear. I'd also be happy with Daniel Pemberton, but he's probably in high demand after scoring a shit ton of well received films in the past few years. His score for The Man From UNCLE is underrated as fuck, genuinely one of the best soundtracks of the decade imo.

HELL YES

Also, Hell Bent highly relies on the viewer being invested in 12 and Clara's friendship, and being attuned to her emotional and character arc throughout Series 8 and 9. If a viewer doesn't like Clara, or doesn't get why Moffat waited till now to end Clara's involvement with the show (it's not because he can't ever let his characters go), then Hell Bent will seem infuriating.

Well Clara definitely had feelings for the Doctor, and it honestly felt like she was going to be 11's Rose since she definitely had the hots for him in S7. The fact that those feelings never resolved or were reciprocated by the time 11 regenerated into 12 left it kinda feeling like unfinished business, even though their dynamic was completely different. The scene in Hell Bent when she finds out what 12 went through to rescue her definitely supported that. It was nice of Moffat to leave it implied and let that resolution happen off-screen though.

I remember hearing Michael Price here before

Blair Mowat could be a possibility too seeing as how he's not doing Class anymore

it's good but not a top 10 episode over fucking Blink. Honestly it just feels like RTD doing a Moffat impression

Edmund Butt as well who did the 50th anniversary docudrama soundtrack

does anyone know when exactly /who/ became an official general or whatever? because I've been in the Doctor Who threads since Series 5 started airing, but I don't remember when exactly /who/ became a thing

I AM THE DOCTOR
AND YOU ARE THE REEEEE
SULT

Kino

reeeee
sluts on my /who/

[checked]

/who/ became a thing around Summer 2013, with the end of series 7 and the Capaldi announcement. There were of course Doctor Who threads before that but they were usually just live threads

Can we get some more Doctor Who related ones?

It's worse than that. She wore blue lenses, but they looked weird, so they digitally altered them to look more natural. But if you've seen the quality of the CGI in Victoria you'll understand why they're so bad.

I'm not sure why they were insistent she had the correct eye colour when there were more glaring historical inaccuracies than that.

I'm not a Star Wars fan and I have to say TLJ subverted my expectations by being one of the most unintentionally funny movies of the last decade.

Eight/Charley best TARDIS team.

Dispute it.

oof yeah apparently the rings around her eyes on the lenses were noticeable so they went frame by frame and blurred them out. Dunno if they changed them after the first preview was released but here's a screencap. They look like shit I don't know why they wouldn't just let her have brown eyes and not look like a blind person? Like her eyes are genuinely beautiful as natural big brown eyes. It'd be like casting Cillian Murphy in something and giving him brown contact lenses

...

Two and Jamie were never by themselves.

So which of the third wheels did you prefer? Polly/Ben, Victoria or Zoe?

>Two and Jamie were never by themselves.
The Two Doctors

prove me wrong

Ben and Polly were there
Victoria did things
Zoe was cute

Actually Polly and Ben are both in that story. However by that point their blandness had achieved a sort of singularity and they warped light around themselves so as to appear invisible. You didn't hear them because, as usual, they didn't have a whole lot to say.

How would you feel if the new title sequence will be reduced to a words "Doctor Who" over the screen with a very short DW theme tune?

Like in Broadchurch or Children of Earth.

No/10

it would only work if there was a legitimate reason for it. Like in The Wedding of River Song when time was all fucked up, it'd have been cool for the title sequence to reflect that.

At one point in 2010, I thought they were gunna do just that with the new DW insignia

what are your favorite "Next Time..." trailers? Mine is the one for A Good Man Goes To War:
youtube.com/watch?v=j_NLjHUKEro

IIRC the one for The Pandorica Opens was also hype as fuck

Dalek or The Impossible Planet

the DW TARDIS shape logo is such a fucking clever logo design it's insane they never used that until 2010.

Moffat really turned the show into something else when he took over. It's crazy how much he was able to improve the production values with the same budget RTD had

youtube.com/watch?v=G_ppwFhsSyM

The hype that week was UNREAL

The Stolen Earth ending with just
>TO
>BE
>CONTINUED

was the GOAT tease

I kinda wish the Doctor actually regenerated into the 11th Doctor in Journey's End. Would've been interesting to see, and would have the added bonus of being a surprise regeneration.

And yes, read Neo/Edge's (or whoever wrote it) fic about it.

I hope Jodie's finale cliffhangers are spoiled by the BBC the way Peter's were. It's only fair

first look always best look

What the fuck does that achieve?

It's in ShitTrips 2, I don't have a link to it at the moment but someone else may be able to hook you up.

I don't care about Jodie's era. I cared about Peters'.

I remember getting really hyped after these ones:
Amy's Choice youtube.com/watch?v=FDKva5s39kU
The God Complex youtube.com/watch?v=BMgsonRfwF0
Dark Water youtube.com/watch?v=p_HdeOXdBUo

That Dark Water trailer was such a fucking troll it's unreal. Bravo.

That doesn't answer the question.

I hope her first 4 episodes will be leaked the same way Capaldi's were (even if she will probably don't look as good in black and white and that guy Pablo probably lost his job already)

using clips from Death in Heaven was actually a brilliant move

...

>Killed by a hug
Wow. Nice catch.

>tfw we will never get a real "companion VS Doctor" episode

...

Just more Moffat pissing about

>Endoctrinating children into linking this Doctor

I remember the lengths people were going through trying to guess why Clara had gone evil. The "Clara Oswald has never existed" line was a fantastic bait-and-switch.
I love the third outfit
;_;

new thread

It'll make me feel less bitter about it.
