It was better than the last couple of issues.

yes

I heard Seth Rogen is now gonna make this a movie

no but it's about what I expected given the rest of the series and Kirkman's larger body of work

Did Mark get revenge on his rapist?

The best kind of revenge. The rapist died, apologizing to Mark, the black guy raised Mark's son for him, and Mark's son grew to hate his mom for raping his dad and denying him a natural opportunity to get close to him. Then, the son showed up, fought with him, and loves Mark even more now. The rapist is forever hated by her only son, and her own daughter was too young to remember her.

I'm kinda disappointed that Mark and Eve didn't have anymore children. Since she reincarnated every time she dies. You'd think they'd pop out a baby every 100 years or so. If I was immortal and so was my wife I'd want a big family.

they might've, but Terra was just a lazy-ass who didn't want to move out

Mormon???

It would have been cool if the last panel was him and eve standing there with 5 kids of varying age groups and Marky looking like the spitting image of his father. It would have given that 500 years statement more impact at the end.

One correction. She never apologized to Mark. She specifically said that she doesn't regret what she did and that Mark should understand.

Nope. Just trying to picture myself as an immortal intergaltic ruler with unlimited resources. A big family is some thing I'd want. Not when I'm just a guy living paycheck to paycheck on earth. Fuck that.

And then all your children will fight each other over the throne. In time, your empire will be divided and then it will fall.

he already has two kids, that ship has sailed

What is Eve's relationship with her halfbrother?

Almost nonexistent. Besides she's a year older than him making her the rightful heir.

Nonono. Let say one day, Eve is in a bar and she see a guy that looks a bit like her dad. This turns her on and decides to get some fun with him.

Would they know that they are siblings?

More yes than no. Doesn't make up for all the shit, but it reminded me why I liked the comic in the first place.

I don't think the daughter was hers. Viltrumite DNA kinda overides other species DNA in humans case making them a 95% to 5% hybrid instead of the usual 50/50 so the daughter wouldn't be black like her father. I think those two got married so they could raise their separate children as a family.

There was some user in the original thread for #144 that mentioned it would have been better if it ended on this page, and I agree. The two pages that come after this are just Mark and Eve standing on a balcony, reiterating everything that the previous three pages just established. Eve literally says "YOU CHANGED THE VILTRUMITES INTO A FORCE FOR GOOD CELEBRATED ACROSS THE UNIVERSE" and it just comes off more forced and less subtle than it would have been to just let those pages speak for themselves. But I guess it wouldn't be a proper send-off for Invincible if it didn't have Kirkman beating subtlety to death Viltrumite style one last time.

Those last two pages also gave us that shot of 500-year-old Terra in a swimsuit, so I guess it wasn't a total loss.

Could not get over the fact that Mark and Eve were presumably fucking for 500 years and only have one kid.

Her name is Terra and yes she knows about Markus she sees him once every few centuries

This, supported by the fact that we never see her after Marcus's time skip. She passed away along with her father, both of them human.

But under the right light and with a couple of drinks. Would they even recognize each other?

I mean, Terra's Electra Complex would trigger at the sight of his Otōto because he is very similar to his dad.

I agree this would have been a better send off. Or like I said have him there on the balcony with a few different children him and eve had over the last few hundred years. Also I love how smug Eve was when that alien hit Mark with a sword.

Plus she doesn't even consider him her brother.

Sooo... he turns into Superman?

Man, for a guy who hates Big Blue. Kirkman sure knows what he is all about.

...

>Mmm... Markus looks yummy. I can't believe I just said that.

So Mark has to die of old age or get mortally wounded before Eve can restore him, right? They're both practically immortal now so the empire is eternal.

Isn't Supes the ultimate hero though. It's only logical that Mark would turn into him at the end

>the black guy raised Mark's son for him
trope inverted

100% correct opinion. I read this page thinking: "huh, that's a pretty nice ending." And then there was another page. And another...

Looks like it

Marcus and Ursaal should have gotten together. Unite the Nolan and Thragg bloodlines

One thing I really wish they'd addressed is this hook from way back in issue #54. Immortal mentions that it's been 300 years since Mark and Eve left Earth, and the finale in #144 is at least 500 years in the future. So did Mark make periodic trips to Earth to make sure Immortal wasn't cracking under the pressure? Was using Rex's brain as an advisor part of his plan to prevent Immortal from cracking under the pressure in the first place? Is the future he saw here just null and void altogether? Would have been nice to see some kind of resolution... Or at least a few panels dedicated to what life on Earth is like 500 years post-Mark.

I don't think Kirkman is in this thread, so you'll never know user.

maybe it's an alternate future. That mark changed in the end also it could be that mark came to take marky 200 years in the future. and since then 300 more years have passed.

Markus was protecting Earth also Earth advanced to system of planted rather than just one. So I think this future was avoided. Because of Markus

maybe shell be like Olly where she gets lighter as she gets older.

He has his own onee san

Its assumed that the bug people dna had a greater influence on the offspring than human DNA did. Due to the rapid growth and ability to remember everything since birth I would guess that Ollie was probably an 80/20 split

She wouldn't push him into reenacting his mother and their father's "date," would she?

Rape and Incest? I don't think he could handle that.

Maybe? They probably would feel bad afterwards.

>Ok, Terra. We do this ONCE. But only because you are asking me nicely
>Oooohhh! Thank you, thank you, Markus! I will try not to make it uncomfortable for you!
>Fine, but remember, next time I want you to wear a red headed wig and-
>Shut the fuck up and eat my pussy, you fucking pansy

I'm rereading the series, just noticed something interesting- the symbol on the Green Ghost's t-shirt is exactly the same as the Viltrum Empire's emblem.

Probably just a case of Kirkman forgetting what he actually put in those first ten issues, but still kinda interesting.

I know right? My grandma had 13 kids.

It was alright but you can really tell they were wrapping it up in a rush. The fight against Robot should have lasted much longer.

Yeah that was disappointing
Maybe the Viltrumites were fans of the Green Ghost?

>and Mark's son grew to hate his mom for raping his dad and denying him a natural opportunity to get close to him.
Really? I don't remember that from the comic.

How long did she live?

He claimed that his mom doomed him to be bad because of the way she made him, unlike Terra who was born from love.

More resentment than hate I would say. His conception made him feel 2nd rate with and a desire to overachieve in order to live up to his dad's legacy since technically his dad did not want him and had no say in his conception unlike his sister causing him to lash out eventually in the only way he knows how.

lmao slutty grandma

Hey, now that's an interesting concept.

70s

Is it really slutty if it was all with the same man?

Yes.

>We do this once
>Next wear the red wig
>Once
>Next time

Sure! You do rape play once and keep fucking afterwards in different ways!

He might mean that particular roleplay is a one-time deal.

Oh man, I remember this comic about a town that gets infected with a virus that makes everyone horny. And a grandma fucks her grandsons and then more shit happens. It was pretty hot actually.

Wasn't that the whole plot of the joke The Aristocrats.

Yeah, but there was no shit, piss nor any sort of gore involved.

Anissa was so thicc.
She became my waifu after that issue.

My condolences. Eve clearly has no excuse

umm wtf... source?

...

How many men has she killed with those things?

The world record of most kids from one family is 69 step up your game Eve. You've had 500 years.

death by the ultimate snu snu

Did anyone storytime the final issue, please link?

desuarchive.org/co/thread/98655619/#98656015

>Mark rejected this

I think that future was one where Mark killed rex and didn't save his brain in a jar, leaving immortal at wits ends

URSAAL IS CUTE! CUTE!

Considereing it was no strings attached it made even less sense

I choose to believe that Ursaal scooped up Markus for herself.

What happened to Multi-Kate?

he was in a committed relationship, user

it is tied up though. Did you read the letters page for the issue? Kirkman literally answers two letters asking about it and explains how it's subtly explained in the last issue. Go check it out, it's neat.

Basically Rex's brain plays the long game into making the immortal's life hell to make him want to kill himself. And also Mark's empire might have to contend with a Rex run earth after the book ends as a sort of full circle kind of ending with a vultrimite mark coming to earth to wreck shit like his dad originally did. I thought that was a pretty sweet way to tie it all off.

Not important. Like everyone else, she logically died with the timeskips.

>I thought that was a pretty sweet way to tie it all off.
it would've been if he actually SHOWED IT

Technically he was newly single.

The two pages after aren't really necessary, but the callback to the conversation between Mark and Nolan during their fight was really touching.

Motifs, theming, and repetition are core part of Kirkman's storytelling in Invincible, and it's only natural then that the final issue(s) would feature so many callbacks and revists of those motifs and moments, which I felt made for an appropriate way to bookend the series. I can understand why not everybody agrees, though.

See, that's the kind of addition you don't leave at a story's end. It's a loose string, and unless Kirkman intends to do some kind of sequel series, it's an unnecessary one.

Kirkman seeded a bunch of plot ideas in the last issue to give the audience the feeling that the adventures continue without us. I thought it was a neat idea.

this

can someone post them?

I do like that Mark turned the Viltrumite empire into the silver-age lie that his dad told him it was, when he was a kid. That was neat.

>500 years old
>Still doesn't have a family of her own.
How did Terra become so worst and Marky Mark so best?

Terra has her father's taste and prefers dat good ol' Earth strange.

NEET

Terra realized she's never going to get a one-of-a-kind immortal wife like her dad, so she just gave up on real relationships. I'm sure it's all VR sex in the future anyway.

She could just marry a Viltrumite

>Terra didnt get any of her Mom's unchecked powers to become the most powerful thing in the universe

Booooo

She also didn't get her rack.

the relevant one

Viltrumite? Who can be young/sexy forever? Her dad's wife/mom ruined her.

If she hooks up with Brit's son, they could have a literally Invincible kid.

No... that was the biggest disappointment.

She walks up and slaps your boyfriend on the ass. What do?

>Literally invulnerable to all harm
>Immortal
>The ability to re-arrange anything at the molecular level
>Autism

The kid will probably be an evil sperglord that remakes the universe into minecraft blocks while destroying all life with no remorse or something.

Attend his funeral

should i pick up the series?

Yes. You will regret it at times, but it is a good decision.

Yeah. Its even getting a movie.

You're just falling into her sick, yuri games at that point.

wut?

Yeah its in pre production

wish the alternate time line was explored more, would love to see a invincible universe were mark didn't fuck up every thing he did

I thought it would have been hilarious to actually retell the viltrum origin, including with the thumbs up and everything

Ending the story with the origin story, and the lazy artwork was A+ on the creative team's part.

Was this a better ending?

...

It tends to meander a ton, there's probably at least three story arcs in there you can slip and lose nothing, probably the forest time skip and those few times Mark goes into another dimension

...

no

>superhero comic writen by a singçe guy for 15 years

Invincible will always be the a superhero story that actually is the vision of the person who created him, floating in a sea of corporated owned characters with no definitive personality or story because they were interpretated by way to many writers over decades. Any ending Kirkman did is a good ending

I missed pretty much the entire year. Ending? Fuck I don't even know how their plans to bring the war to Earth went. This ended? Who fucking unchained the artist from the desk? goddamnit guys

Well it was a good ending.

I remember somewhere in the early issues it was mentioned by Nolan that viltrumites aging keeps slowing down the older they are. Considering Nolan said that a viltrumite would be able to survive all of the living beings in Earth, it's implied that the slowing down is exponential.
I always assumed that Nolan had to be at least over one thousand years, if not more, being one of the few viltrumites with a considerable amount of grey hair (compare him to full black hair Thragg, who appears in some panels at the beginning of the viltrumite empire even before he was made regent).
Likewise, Thaedus had to be fucking ancient, easily above 10k. Such an interesting character by the way, really sad he was gone so soon.

This last chapter showed some inconsistencies with the "the older you are, the slower you age" thing. I mean, by the end of his 500 years Mark is already showing some important features of a mature age. The few white hairs could be explained by the stress he had to go through, but his wrinkles not that much. Again, a lot of viltrumites where implied to be centuries old, and none of them got white hairs or wrinkles yet.
Then there's Terra. She must be aproximating 480 years, but unlike her father she still looks like she's in her fresh 20s.

I don't know, I think Kirkman forgot or sacrificed that early point for the sake of showing "change" in this final chapter. Still, the inconsistency bothers me.

The "race" characters don't amount to shit in an individual's DNA sequence.

Seriously. It's perfectly safe to assume they're in that 5% margin

I liked it, but I feel like the series in general should've ended sooner. The whole Mark going back in time story felt unnecessary. I understand that they needed an excuse for a time skip since Thragg's army needed to grow, but surely there could have been a better way to do it? It also led to some more dumb drama between Mark and Eve. Though to Kirkman's credit, that was solved pretty quickly.

I was ok with the end of series. I think the series should have probably ended 25 to 50 issues sooner, though. There were a couple points in it that should have not happened.

>literal cukold
KEK!

While true, skin color does seem to be more influenced by the age of the viltrumite hybrid.

Younger hybrids are more likely to have skin color reflecting their non-viltrumite parent, and then this color changes with time. Also, there are dark skinned viltrumites, so it is possible that the viltrumite DNA didn't override skin color as it exists in both species.

I love this kind of repetition throughout the series - the retelling of the Viltrum origin story makes for a wonderful thematic through-line in the story as we go from the rose-tinted fiction Nolan tells young Mark, to the more violent version he confesses to him before the fight, to the brutal, harsh reality of his people's near extinction conveyed to Allen, Thragg's struggles with trying to preserve his people's history and way of life, and ultimately Mark's effort to tell the plain and simple truth, or as much of it as he can work out, to Marky.

Too few artists recognize the value of visual and thematic motifs like this in comics.

Catch up on the storytimes - they should still be in the co archive or on desu

Invincible 2 with another writer when? I wanna see Markus adventures without empire bullshit.

Autism is not a hereditary mental disease.

I unironically agree with this.

I'd rather they do something else. Like an animated show not some soy goy taking over making Markus identify as a MLP pony. This is better. Also we're getting new toys.

>Also we're getting new toys
Wut? Sauce?

>the story didn't end with Eve getting fat again

Fuck off with anything else honestly

Like Markus?

There was something vaguely haremish about that shot

I just re-read the entire run. I felt there was too much repetition but overall it holds up better than 99% of comics.

Viltrumite DNA is almost identical to human DNA.
Why would it override something its 99% similar to? fucking speed readers

You are unironically right then

>The one superhero story that did not get fucked over and over by a clusterfuck of writers
>people want to see it soiled already

Is there hope for cape comics?

may a flock of bitch angels be raped until she is at rest

>mark is crying
my fucking dick

Probably was her's. We got black lady at Eve's first death of old age. Though I guess there could be humans hanging out in space at this point.

He's not though. He was considered dead for 5 years. As soon as he came back wife broke off the relationship with the other guy.

I think that lady is the psychic healer that helped Mark and Eve with the pregnancy back in the day.

Do you think Eve gets Mark to help her along with a fist through the chest every 30 years or so?

...

Not really, kinda meh. Already forgot about it. And I hate big fastforwards. Feel lonely.

ha I was wondering if there were pics of this. That's pretty funny.

it was about as satisfying as it could have been. shame we're getting a movie and not a cartoon series.

>marky boy's glorious rape scene will never be animated
the tears can't stop flowing

I'm still brokenhearted that Robot and Monstergirl weren't endgame. Fuck that whole character arc.

Oh, back when robot wasn't a asshole

maybe zone can do it someday

>robot is horified about the murder of an innocent man
>He later moves on to kill all of his closest friends and almost his girlfriend on some paranoid HUNCH that they may not like his "save the entire world" plan.
I hate how Rex is written in the last half of the story. I just fucking do.

Being in another dimension for 1000 years being a dictator will do that to you.

Fuck Seth Rogen. He turned John Wayne Preacher to the into a fucking quippy, small little bitch.

sauce and what show?

>Its better than most Jap tentacle porn
>Not really more of it, in the same quality

>Not showing the earth viltrumite kids and their human parents adjusting to space life
>No showing of Terra interacting with said viltrumite kids
>No showing of Earth's progress and the space expansion of humanity
>No parallel of Marky/Marcus growing on Earth in the same way like the Terra page
>No grown up version of Marky's little sister
>Mark's mom dying off screen
>No showing of how much time have pass during the time skip
>Mark looking middle aged instead of being in his twenties
That's some of my issues with the ending.

He did mention the possibility of a 20th anniversary issue in the final letter column. I think he added that stuff in primarily so people don't claim ass pulls when the book does eventually come back.

I get the impression that the huge success of TWD has gotten into his head more recently. All the corporate and legal bullshit that surrounds the show that he is fairly heavily involved with. It seemed like he really doubled down on the anti-mainstream cape comics talk in the last couple years, which caused him to shift away from the previous plan of passing the series onto a new creative team eventually.

I guess it will depend on how he feels down the line. If this movie ever really happens it seems like they'd want to do some kind of tie in with it, but I guess they could just reprint old stuff again.

After reflecting on it, I'm a bit disappointed that during the many time periods we saw Terra in, she never had a THICC phase like Eve. Thicc Eve in her costume ways favorite girl in the series.

It was okay but I wish they took away some of the focus they had on Terra and gave it to all the other viltrumite kids.

>1 page for nigga viltrumites offspring
>1 page for Markus sister
>1 page for monocle man and knife hair's kids

Could be that it's because Mark is a hybrid. Terra could be a whole different thing because of Eve's weird biology.

That doesn't even make sense especially since there are black viltrumites.

If anything the half bug viltrumites should have been born white.

>Ugh, Jesus mark these crow feet look terrible. Quick! Punch me through the chest! We're meeting the Gornak's for dinner in less than an hour!

>Not showing the earth viltrumite kids and their human parents adjusting to space life
We see quite a few short scenes of the Viltrumites adapting to life on earth and raising their kids in the previous issues

Thank you!

Nice

I wish Nolan had lived. I wanted him to be doting over his grandson while Mark took everyone to space.

Zone parody, Modifyers

Now that it is over, in the end was Dinosaurus right?

He gave a pretty sound reasoning for why he was wrong in the first place, so no.

I'm pleased with how it all wrapped up. The 50s sci fi touches were still there. The art was great- old Atom Eve looked like Agatha Harkness. There wasn't as much blood, and they didn't go full Blood God in this issue. The appearances of random characters was nice- as they were there and NOT killed.
I was still waiting for Vegas to be found in some other dimension, so having one of the old Not Justice League show up was done very well- it's easier to destabilize a city's quantum-unobtanium-state then it is to atomize Los freaking Vegas. Which costs less energy- to slide a slice of pie off a plate, or to turn it into a cloud of plasma shorn clean from it's foundations?
We don't have any proof of how many children Mark ended up having, so there's that to return to. "No, you can't be a prince! Stop killing people and I might make you a duke."
The "changed the viltrumites" ending was done subtly- with correct misrepresentation and "that's my story and we're sticking to it" when talking to the new people they encounter across the cosmos.

This.This right here.

It was for the best. What else was there for them to do?

I'd argue its less the TWD going to his head (that happened years ago) and more dealing with all the rights bullshit he's had to over the last decade, especially with Image's creator owned focus. You just know turning Invincible over to someone else means THEY'RE going to be fighting over rights to characters they create at some point, and why deal with that headache when you can just end it and milk it out in perpetuity?

Was Michael Jackson a Viltrumite hybrid?

I liked Invincible when it was just trying to juggle normal life and being a hero.

Eventually got sick of Kirkman's constant ramping up of the drama and abuse suffered by the main characters, just like he did in Walking dead.

Also didn't help that background characters were always the most interesting thing.

>how did the immortal go insane when Marcus was there to keep an eye on him?

Ah, the original Man of Murder

Yeah, that would have been better.

Kirkman stinks at wrapping things up. Astounding Wolf Man had a wrap up that was also Abit dull and unfulfilling.

I think Powers Inc was the only thing he ended well and even then he kept it going in back pages of his other books.

Is kirkman still doing super dinosuar or did he end that as well?

There Goes the Neighborhood by MadefromLazers.

Art is pretty damn good.

Mark made the right call here - they were on the verge of being overrun. Hell, we find out later Robot was very nearly assimilated or whatever. Casualty of war.
