Just finished watching them, from what I saw it seems like typical slice of life cartoon hijinks with a lot of food puns. I did appreciate that the first episode acted as an actual introduction to the show and set up the premise for Apple and Onion living together because I feel like most cartoons forgo doing things like that lately and just jump into a random story. The voice acting was pretty ok and the backgrounds were nice, only downside is that the animation isn't that great this looks like something that would have been on Newgrounds back in the day. Overall I liked the slower and more relaxed pace of this show compared to the other stuff on CN lately.

Fucking THIS. A&O was animated by the same studio behind Mighty Magiswords, Inspidea. I don’t know where CN gets the idea that cartoons with puppet animation (Flash, Toon Boom, etc.) have to look like absolute shit. Meanwhile, Disney and Nick realize that while having some of their shows be animated in places other than Korea would be more efficient and possibly cheaper, it can still lead to lively, fluid animation (Wander Over Yonder, The Loud House, Mickey Mouse Shorts).

At least the stiff animation in Apple & Onion works well with the admittedly flat/bland character designs. Mighty Magiswords, on the other hand, had an art style that needed a more expressive animation style that would better suit its super cartoony character designs. But nope; it got a cheap animation studio assigned to it, making the whole show feel like nothing more than a web series not intended for broadcasting.
