Did Archie have anything to do with the supernatural before this show? As a Brtibong this was my first introduction to Riverdale, so I was surprised to find out he was originally from a romantic comedy funnybook series from the 50s instead of some Scooby Doo knock-off.

One of the comics published by the company and was also canon to Archie was Sabrina the Teenage Witch so you'd have minor "Supernatural" elements in that kind of way on occasion, but for the most part Archie's Weird Mysteries was just a... Well, Weird spinoff.
