As for Erwin being good; a selfish character that uses his own personal wants to drive forward a greater goal is interesting to me. Erwin is someone that had a goal that seen him strive for freedom for his people, but then it was warped into a selfish desire to reach a basement that might realign his personal goals. He knows that he is feeding people into a meat grinder, but despite that he keeps on going because he has convinced himself, and those around him, that it's the right thing to do. In the end, when he gave up on his goal, he died just like one of the many pieces of cannonfodder that he has sent to the Titans.
There's more to him than that, but that's all I really feel like writing.

I like most of the cast, I've never even been particularly against Armin. But killing off the man who has been the linchpin of some of the most grand moments in the series, just to save a kid that should have died from burns and a massive fall, is bad, lazy writing. Armin could have been so much more, but now he's just loathsome to me.

I feel like Hanji is the type of person to get down to business quickly. She certainly has more of a nurturing and caring side, at least openly, than Erwin did, which is a good quality in a leader. We have seen how she can handle being assertive in a small group among people she has dealt with beforehand. It'll be interesting to see how she deals with the higher ups when the time comes. Erwin had a lot of experience in doing so. I hope that she is successful and makes progress with them.

I also agree with what you and said about Hanji's personality. I'm sure she won't lose that her energetic and fun side completely, but times now call for her to be a lot more serious. She is also mourning the loss of some dear friends. I hope she handles the burden of being Commander well. She was, after all, the only living person fit for the job.

I feel that the Scouts does not have enough members to form a large force anymore. Unless they combine the divisions together, which is unlikely, I see that changes will have to happen. I believe that there's only nine members of the Scouts left, that's barely more than a typical Squad. I think they will have to make use of new technology and weaponry more so than they did before. Hanji will encourage Eren and Armin to use their titans more, I believe. They have to really, since there are so few people. Every man and titan is extremely valuable.

I would love the Erwin statue too. Perhaps Historia can arrange something. I know his friends and supporters would approve! Considering Erwin himself, along with his father, were so invested with learning, books and theories, it would be a great tribute for him to be written about positively in the history books. I am sure they were both passionate about education. I agree that History books should view figures impartially. He was significant and his military tactics along with political dealings made him a key figure in a very important time in Humanity's history. The good and bad points should be covered. He was a human being after all, with many faults. The focus on his positive qualities along with the negative ones are what made him one of the better written and more realistic characters in the story. I am sure that Erwin would agree that he needs to be examined from all perspectives when he is written about too. After all, the shielding of information and conspiracies were something that were important issues to he and his father. I doubt he would want to be portrayed as the perfect Commander with zero faults.
