While that sounds great and I love shinshou I don't see him becoming a secondary character, he could only be a background character because of his quirk, it's too OP and only works on certain situations so it would be hard to write a lot of the fights with him around because suddenly every battle would end up being solved by his quirk or having him being useless

While that sounds reasonable, isn't that more or less what they did on the first test? I mean the rules were pretty open, like you could beat the shit out of someone and then use the balls to pass. Or you could incapacitate them to do the same.

I realized rescue must be a pain in the ass when most of the population has quirks. You might think that would mean everyone has something to help them out in a jam, but it would probably just make things more difficult when someone panics or put people into positions where it's even harder to rescue them.

I'd argue that this exercise was better for testing general combat aptitude than a 1v1. There's pros and cons to both, because only real combat experience can include all the variables. From the 1v1s we have seen there's

>ring out rules
>no pinning/capturing submission rules
>no unexpected third parties

These are cons because they don't simulate fights in a real environment where you have to good instincts and awareness to your surroundings. Nor does it account for uneven terrain, on the spot teamwork, avoiding friendly fire, capturing lawbreakers, sudden changes in terrain, dealing with multiple quirks, etc.

Sure, it's important to be competent in a 1v1. It seems like they want to focus on stuff someone would face in the field which your typical 1v1 overlooks. I always thought 1v1s were a weird way to end exams (I get that it's more exciting though). It feels like something you'd do in the middle and not at the end. There's these objective based trials that simulate the work you'd actually be doing but then that goes out the window for 1v1. It's especially bad if you're working as a squad or with a partner a lot of the time. I think this rescue exercise is a good final test. At the end of the day this is what separates you from a mercenary or a sport fighter.

As for the Shiketsu kids, if they don't do much else then it just means this was the arc to introduce them so when they do appear in something important you don't go

I find it weird that at every step of the way in the hero training process that they're put in positions where it is encouraged to fuck eachother over for fun and profit.

As far as I know there's no fantasy beasts in their universe so he's going to be using shit like dogs and birds, which any actual villain will just fry. Only reason the doves worked in the license exam in the first place is heroes-in-training wouldn't be murdering animals so they had to just suck it up.

Word. Plus, wouldn't using his powers in combat count as animal abuse? I mean, I guess he could control swarms of Japanese killer hornets and be the most horrifying villain in existence, but that sort of thing would probably be frowned upon as a hero.

Heroes are needed for more than just blowing away villains, and even then, if a villain tries a plan that involves animals, you've got a secret weapon waiting to counter it.

If animals escape the zoo to stampede around, or there's a rabid dog terrorising a neighbourhood, or a tiger at the circus starts going a little crazy, or a mosquito swarm flies in carrying malaria, he just has to step in and tell them to stop. No need to be shooting gorillas here.

Also, we don't know if he can actually control animal based quirks yet (and if he can, prepare for Hypnotised Tsuyu r34 I guess). But if he could, that might explain how he beat the robots way back, assuming he didn't just get heroic points like Deku did

His power is essentially a stun. There's a reason hyper competitive gamers hate stuns. I really don't know why people would question Tsuyu though. Her tongue is strong enough to support at least two people.

It's like Goblin Slayer though, after a few chapters it's all nothing.

She's basically this series version of rock lee, a solid likeable gimmick character whose relevance to the plot as a whole is minimal and thus can be fun while the main character is a 1note cardboard cutout and his girlfriend is a low quality commoner.

Comparing this series to Naruto is ultimately unfair though because Hori is actually good at making his characters develop and fucking do something, unlike pretty much the entire female cast of Naruto.

Yeah. That's kind of the dilemma of failing them. The stakes are very high in a sense even if it's not in-universe.

They can ramp their thinking/perception up to a speed where it seems time has stopped. This allows them to essentially "stop time" so they can plan out a perfect strategy for saving someone, dodging or countering an attack, or escaping. Even if they fuck up they can just "stop time" again and devise a new plan. The drawback is that it's just their mind moving that fast, they can't move during this time.

The hero system in BnHA is very different from classic Marvel and DC superheroes.
The concept of rivalry doesn't really exist in Marvel or DC, and neither does the concept of "being the Number One hero". Different heroes might not get along, but they don't compete against each other since their objective is helping people, not "winning", other heroes are seen as fellow heroes, not as rivals. Most heroes don't care about popularity, those that do are usually portrayed as jerks like Booster Gold.
When heroes fight each other, it's because of training, misunderstandings or ideological differences, not because they're competing for licenses or other crap.

The idea of reaching All Might's level is that he's basically the shit and a great person so that when you reach the top you too can save people in the toughest, near impossible situations. I really don't get the fuss over competing for the license. There are over a thousand people taking the test. What's the best combat sim? Robots? Because that's clearly not a good way to test them, the principal and co. even said they were a shit and are just there because they're much safer. Pro heroes on standby? Because they have work to do and it would be slow as balls with hundreds or thousands of applicants. Not to mention. That isn't what heroes do. The people taking the test aren't heroes. They're trainees.

I don't have a problem with having a test for getting licenses, but only letting less than 100 people pass out of thousands of partcipants is kind of bullshit. Especially since in previous years there was no limit to the number of licenses, it's just that the tests were so hard that half of them failed.

That was explained as trying to separate the wheat from the chaff now that villains are on the rise and All Might has retired. They don't want jobbers. It's a very subjective decision with cons of its own. You could argue they need all the help they can get. At the same time these are just limited provisional licenses. That means these people are often still liabilities on the legal end of things. They could just be making sure that the people they're sending out into the field can definitely handle a world that has been getting more dangerous by the day. Maybe Timmy's inexperience would've been okay last year when there weren't Stainfags and crooks running around, thinking they can do anything now that All Might retired. His odds of encountering a life or death situation have been doubled and his chances of surviving it have halved.

He might actually be shit at anything that's not lifting. The body can be pretty inflexible in that it only adapts to specific exercises for the most part. For instance, many a weightlifter would struggle to lift a boulder with a weight they normally lift with. So it's not exactly unreasonable that he would do shit on quite a few. But you'd think he could still beat Invisitits. Then again Aizawa may have given them final rankings based on his own subjective judgements.

It's true that someone in shape would have an advantage over an obese shut-in but you don't normally get good at long jump without practicing it or cheating (quirks). Certain exercises he should have excelled at like the endurance run were ruined when he essentially shot himself in the foot and was dealing with the consequences of using 100% OFA throughout the whole exercise and probably did below average even by normal people standards.
