The nurse informs him that he'd collapsed out in front of a convenience store, and the clerk dialed the emergency line. The reason for his collapse could be any kind of mundane, easily treatable ailment such as heat stroke or fatigue etc. Subaru nearly breaks, Season one ends.

If they do a second season, the season is all about Subaru poorly coping with the crippling realization that all of the struggle and pain for his fantasy waifu was literally for nothing, and trying and failing to find a way back to his fantasy land and fantasy waifus while the cruel realities of life press on him harder and harder. It'd be depressing as fuck, but at least it would be something that to my knowledge has not been done before.

At any rate, this is probably why nobody will ever ask me to write for anime.

Emilia also cuts her hair short to imitate Rem, because she notices Subaru taking care of her comatose body, throws fits over him being hurt, and doesn't do anything without his consent, basically becoming a broken doll.

What Emilia has is a lack of conflict of interest, incorruptibility, and just plain integrity. She comes across as sincere, a rare quality in a politician.

Felt has that too, but also doesn't give any fucks and has no plans to better the kingdom's prosperity.

Priscilla also comes across as someone who doesn't really care, and picking her would mean putting a lot of faith in the idea that her blessing causing everything to benefit get will also extend to causing everything to benefit the kingdom.

Anastasia is a businesswoman, and we've all seen what happens when you allow big money and big business to make whoopee with the government of a nation. What's good for her business isn't always what's good for the citizens. My headcanon is that Satella needs Emilia to live to a certain point in order to revive, and RBD is basically a means to create an infallible protector for her vessel until she reaches that point. After all, even if Emilia dies, the RBD host would just turn back time to save her.
