Is there a comfier handheld out there?

>A 2 year old can mod it

>MP3 player as well

>A 2 year old can mod it
>implying

im pretty sure a 2 year old cant cut a fucking battery in half

You don't need to fuck with the battery to mod it any more.

What year are you from? Modding a PSP is just dragging and dropping a few files.

im having my first run with SW Lethal Alliance on my 3000. comfiest console ever

>best thing about a system involves not playing its games
I mean, I liked some games on the PSP, but this is just sad.

It's the fact that you can play its games and do all that other stuff, pal

>have psp
>no games to play

>battery
Is this 2007?

only excuse is laziness

I remember playing Burnout Revenge for a good few months. When The Outline - Shotgun came on the first time I was blown away by the comfyness and feels it vibed into my lil 12 year old eye balls.

22 now. Might get the VITA but I hear there are not a lot of games for it. If I were, what can you guys recommend? Dont mind jap shit, wanna actually get into it :)

Also, what are some of your fondest memories of the PSP??

Another one of mine was watching the Alien Film you got as a promotion with it and shitting myself watching it, didnt watch it for a whole year haha! Still, great film, would watch again.

It's basically a smartphone before smartphones were a thing

and it has actual buttons

it's a shame internet doesn't work with new password protocols

faping to the dildo scene in Not Another Teen Movie, I got the UMD

and the best part is that you have to stuff all your games on overpriced proprietary memory cards, or rely on cheaply made adapters

You can mod it without touching the hardware? I haven't kept up with PSP modding in years.

>overpriced proprietary memory cards
This is not the vita, sandisk and probably other companies also made memory sticks.

Think I did the exact same. Sheitttt. It is pretty fucking hot though.

I played MGS Portable Ops online for literally 3 years. It was a handheld MGO1. Godly despite the carpal tunnel it gave you. Got involved with clans and stupid stuff like that. It was both stressful and amazing.

yeah, you just drag some files onto the memory card and run them from the games menu

youre a fucking retard

I'm gonna go google that right now. Thanks man.

The PSP has been cracked so hard Sony has never recovered and has made every attempt of securing the Vita

How is snes emulation on this thing? Might pick up ome of these if the games run good. Having no physical buttons on a smartphone makes emulating a nightmare.

>comfy
Stop.

Yeah, you literally just drag and drop files now and you're running CFW. Been like that since at least 2010. I never bothered with all that pandora battery crap.

please expand ;_;
I came late to the online scene of that game, but it was my obscure object of desire back in time.
Is still playable via ad-hoc party or something?

I just noticed I'm in 6.61.

3DS is comfier tbqph

and they're still expensive, low capacity, shitty, and generally not worth mentioning but thanks for playing

*your
ftfy champ

literally doesn't matter afaik. there's a lot of outdated information out there. try this:

hackinformer.com/PlayStationGuide/PSP/DEVICE_PSP.html

When did you play? I was active from 2008-2010 and some parts of 2011. We may have crossed paths at some point

There was a plugin called Prometheus or something like that that allowed games to be played online via Ad-hoc. It did some weird internet witchcraft and ran games on a private server. I was able to play with some old friends a few years back like this, but I quit awhile ago. People may still use it, idk.

Thanks a lot for the help, it's appreciated.

>SNES games
lol no

Playing GBA/GBC games on it kinda sucks, but it's great for (S)NES.

I ran a SNES emu on mine that only had problems with one level of DKC. Everything else I tried ran fine. And this was in 2011, so I'm sure there's better now

What emulator do you run? My GBA/GBC stuff has always ran without flaw

It's not that it's bad at emulating them, but its screen is in that sweet spot where it can't do 2x but 1x looks too small. I just use my DS for those systems.

I played a few rounds back in 2011, on EU.
That pluggin thing seems great. Sadly Im uber-retard when it comes to modding and cfw stuff. I have 6.61, what is the simpler cfw I could put on my 3000? I don´t want to lost the few things official psp still has, like downloading my stuff from PSN or using ad-hoc party.

Ah, I gotcha. That never bugged me. I used GBAKai or something like that and it always looked fine to me.

Considering any Android phone released nowadays can do everything the PSP could without needing to be being hacked, is smaller, and can call people, I'd say there is.

Super Metroid work like ass.

>no buttons

back to your freemium games

>tfw broken shoulder buttons
its over

I played tryhard no holds barred clan bullshit matches for 3 years on the US server, so you probably got the better and more fun end of the deal. You played right as I quit.

As for the plugin, I can't really give you technical stuff. It's been years since I've used it. I'm nearly certain it was called "prometheus pro" or something like that if you're ever interested. And I promise modding these things now are not hard. It's literally just dragging files and running the CFW from your stick like it's a game, and there ya go. Couldn't tell you what features it'd lose though.

Can somebody recommend me good (J)RPGs. NES, SNES, PSX, PSP. Got it for free from a friend and was an idort, so missed most of Sony games in the past.

>Doesn't know you can attach a controller.

Back to your outdated devices.

my PSP is fucking randomly deciding "yeah, I'm not going to turn on now"

it doesn't matter, since I mostly used it as an MP3 player these days, but this is like my fourth PSP at this point (one was defective out of the box, returned it under warranty)

Disgaea series

>playing on an emulator and attaching an external wireless controller all on a 7" screen

I also like going through every autistic workaround to have the cheapest experience possible instead of playing on actual game hardware or on a PC with a real monitor

I´ll do my research then. I hope any given cfw is able to run that prometheus pluggin, I would love to play PO online again!
thank you so much for your help pal
ps- do you know something about the PW multiplayer? still working or something?

You must hate jrpgs and srpgs then.

Not a problem buddy, hope you get it working!

Uh, not sure about PW though. I'm sure people used it too, but I never did personally. It was my understanding that any PSP game with adhoc could work with this wizardry

Tons of legends of heroes titles, mana khemia, final fantasy, valkyrie profile lenneth, chrono cross, parasite eve, tactics ogre, nis titles (disgaea and zhp). The amount of games that you can play on that device is staggering

Found the site where you check to see who's using it. pro.coldbird.net/status/status.xml

there's 48 people playing dbz shin budokai 2 holy shit

that´s great pal.
You helped me a lot. have a nice day!

>pro.coldbird.net/status/status.xml

so the link is broken, nevermind. Just google "prometheus pro server" and you should find it eventually

>Is there a comfier handheld out there?

all nintendo hand helds apparently

Serious question, why can't anyone break nintendos strangle hold on the market?

>psp: 80.2 million
>psvita: 14.3 million

>ds: 154.4 million
>3ds: 60.5 million

the fuck though? its not even close

really makes me ponder

most annoying thing that happened with mine was the analog stick breaking off and disappearing

just replaced it with a thumbtack, but was still annoying, especially considering nothing my tiger handhelds to ds ever had a similar problem

the one recent sony console/handheld that maymay doesn't apply to is the psp

shit had decent games and emulation is easy af

nintendo handhelds have immensely popular franchises associated with them, and sony handhelds don't. even though sony's hardware is consistently superior, and might even have a better library, nintendo hardware has things people actually want, and they make sure you can only get it on nintendo hardware.

Touch screens were still novel when the DS came out. The vita has no games.

There you go.

>Get Vita
>Play PS1 games on it
W E W

also some games from n64 are playable
psp is the most comfy handheld

Which ones and which emu? I could never get them to work

>Doesn't realize he use an external monitor.

By that logic, you might as well not even use emulation and just buy the original device and game.

Pretty sure all the PSP/PS1 hacks are broken on anything above 3.57 and you can't play Vita games with Henkaku/Vitamin unless you're on 3.60.

>2008
>let's make a pandora battery
>guys why is this thing heating up so much?

>and might even have a better library

if only that was the case.

Proud owner of a psp+vita (along with all nintendo ones) and the biggest hurdle of the former is the limited releases

And i like jrpgs enough, but if im not mistaken i think sony has all but stopped sending vita games to the us period from the dead market here

>external monitor
So you use the phone as a...PC.
Except it's not.

Not the same as using a HANDHELD gaming device for gaming

You can scatter on back to the Top 10 grossing app store you came from, plebbit

Thanks for the meme girl shitposter-kun! Have a (You)

frame rates are literally unplayable emulating n64 on psp

all i wanted to do was play quest 64 too :^(

I really really like this mokou
is that an original?

nah man
my o3dsxl makes my hands cramp after like an hour of playing but my psp is the perfect size

Isn't SNES emulation shit as well? I thought the only good SNES emulators were on PC and android.

More like Grind64... Or was it cheese64?

The final boss I just cheesed the fuck out of it so hard to beat. cause fuck being stuck in that shitty place and never being able to get out.

I get more handcramps from vita, but still cramp up with normal 3ds

In terms of comfort 2ds is the best handheld released in a decade, could play it indefinitely with no cramps

>>internet browser

I love my PSP a lot, a lot but really, the fucking browser sucks ass

Any game that uses Mode7 or the Super FX chip will be laggy as fuck or just not playable. Just be sure to use that one psp Snes9x modded version. and not Snes Euphoria (yes its called that and its fucking TERRIBLE)

>tfw used to watch porn on my psp

snes is passable, varies from game to game for some reason and only has some dips

quest 64 was one of two games i never beat and figured: "im an adult now, so beating these games should be easy!"

Still have not beat quest 64 or Super the empire strikes back to this day and probably never will

>pandora pleb

Quest64 is just grinding like a motherfucker and figuring out how to cheese boss fights sometimes... Well that and just leveling up one of those elements. just look up online on what is completely useless so you can avoid them completely.

Game is good though. idk why people don't like it but I do know its cause of the grind and the strange battle system no one can get used to.

I guess if you have child like hands. This thing is an ergo dynamic nightmare. I get carpal tunnel just thinking about holding one.

>Game is good though. idk why people don't like it but I do know its cause of the grind and the strange battle system no one can get used to.

I think most people just have a bad taste in their mouth from trying to play it as children

Going back its actually really good, just a total timepit grindfest and some of the boss fights are fucking retarded

alright psp thread! So retro!!

My PSP 2000 is still useful until my 3.60 Vita 1000 gets PS1/PSP support.

Also n64 on vita when?

whats the best micro sd card to memory stick duo adapter
all the ones on amazon have people saying its shit and will fall apart/doesnt fit micro sd's properly

this unfortunately

I don't know why sony chose to go so far out horizontally without much depth or height, it just feels bad in your hands and starts hurting after an hour or so

still really like it, but wish they had made it more gba shaped tbqh

I think PSP has a legitimate case for having a better library than the DS, but 3DS blows Vita out of the water.

PSP probably attracted a lot of people with Monster Hunter, Final Fantasy, and Metal Gear games that actually turned out to be good. DS attracted people with stuff like Mario and Pokemon, but the games turned out bad a lot of the time. There were good DS games, but they were either ports of SNES games, or very niche things like Ace Attroney or Nintendogs.

Mine's a sandisk and I have like 3 of the things that have literally never malfunctioned in the slightest

>terrible screens no matter what model
>awful sectioned D-pad that even Sony admits was terrible nowadays
>shitty resolution for emulation, can't even render GBC at 2x nearest needing filters that look like shit

It's fucking awful.

Hell yes. The best portable JRPG/Fighting game machine.

What's th best racing game on the PSP and why it is Riiiiidge Racer 2?

Psp and ds were polar opposites with games, which is why it was great to have both. I think as far as libraries concerned they were very close to being equal

still don't understand why
>mh
>ff
>mgs
all went to the 3ds this time around though, but have to say i prefer playing mh on the 3ds to the psp for some reason so im ok with it.

>bought psp a year ago
>psx emulator suddenly stop working
>button sometimes start doing random shit

I dont think it's a hardware failure but at the same time i have fucking clue what it is. Has this happened to anyone before?

>MP3
>SNES

nah

It is a nice little portable though

I forgot until recently how big the face buttons on it are, I miss that on the vita.

Psp has tons of fun games bro

I played so much tekken on my psp. got annihilated trying to play in arcades though

I really like my psp just picked one up for forty bucks for my little brother too hopefully I can get him into mhfu and have some adhoc fun

jesus. Combine it with the usual bunch of pal playing MHFU everyday via Ad-Hoc Party. 20fucking16 and the communities are still alive.

>m mm mm m m mah fun

Never claimed it was the same thing as a PC. I said it can do everything a PSP can do. And there are literally controller attachments that emulate the same look and feel of a handheld gaming device.

>mgs
>3ds
You mean the powerpoint presentation? Vita got the mgs collection anyway.

>same ergonomic nightmare as the psp

hard pass

I like to play for several hours at a time

I have bought 3 different types and they have all been unreliable or reliable but way too slow for large files.

If you want it for PSP then just use a data cable you plug right into the console.

Yeah, no. Using a phone in an emulator is fucking awful because you have to carry a external controller if you don't want te gameplay to be shit. Also the battery life on a phone for emulation is fucking terrible. Call me when they fix that.

playing all those gba games i never could

Just waiting on the duo adapter. I shouldn't have gotten it from china shipping is about 5-6 weeks. I wish they sold them in stores.

Can anyone who's experienced with tinkering with the clock speeds please tell me how much battery life you can save by downclocking the cpu, and if it's worth it?

If I run something that simply don't need the cpu clocked at 333/166 to run well, then I might as well see if I can save some battery instead.

dude mgs3 on 3ds looked great

no reason to get triggered

Interested in this. I run at 333/166 too but I have no clue if going lower saves battery or if it's practical.

>mgs3 on 3ds looked great
In still frames it looked ok, which coincidentally you'll have plenty of time to do. Silky smooth 10 fps, Thanks Konami.

PS Vita can't play (some?) PSP games right?

There's some PSP games I want to play some time as well as Vita.

Also I'm too lazy to pirate them. :^)

Thats bs though

Ive played it and frankly demo vids online don't do it justice. I suggest playing it in person as well before passing judgement

If you had your Vita hacked on a lower firmware you could play every single PSP game if you wanted.

I have mgs 3 on the vita and got pissed off at the touch controls are they a bit better on the 3ds

I usually don't overclock, but when i tried to compare i found out that setting the clock to 333mhz gave me arround 2 hours less than playing normally.
Is it worthy? well, you do get improvements in a lot of games like Wipeout and Phantom Brave. Other games don't get improvements because either they are already running at 333mhz or because i guess the frame rate is locked but if you wanna sacrifice a little of battery life then go for it.

Honestly there are other functions that drain the battery way faster than normal clocking the PSP, one is the WiFi multiplayer function and the other is setting the brightness at max.

>I suggest playing it in person as well before passing judgement
I own the game dumbass. The framerate is all over the fucking place, and in some cases it's ok, stutters a lot, but still playable. It hit a wall during the first Ocelot bossfight though. That shit was fucking atrocious. It was so bad your control inputs lag way behind. The framerate is shit user. It's time to accept it.

Been wanting to get one since I finally got a job and have to leave the house more than 5 times a year. Are the 1000, 2000 and 3000 screens shitty enough to justify the babby hands size of the Go or are they all equally uncomfortable to play for more than 30 minutes?

If you enjoy a slideshow and have a new 3ds or a circle pad pro, yes.

the menus are some of the best use of the tough screen on 3ds

Basically bottom screen is 90% dedicated to inventory and medical, is responsive, and weapon selection is in the right bottom corner which makes it absurdly easy to reach

i didn't know psvita went with a touch screen selection, why didn't they just go with ps2 controls?

I'm interested in this game, how bad is the framerate? as in how loww it will go? i don't mind 30 FPS but i can't stand anything below 20.

Go is a shit. Get a 3000 or 2000.

>i can't stand anything below 20.
Avoid it then.

My brother gave me his psp. I had one way back in the day but the battery died.
I've been playing Harvey birdman and Kenka Bancho: Badass Rumble.
Harvey birdman is just like Pheonix wright games. and its like mini episodes so I've been enjoying it a lot.
KB is really under rated. good brawler. lots of options. I haven't played more than 3 hours though.
I might play Liberty City stories and Silent Hill Homecoming after I'm done with those games.

>Have to carry a external controller.

Or you could just attach it to the system like the one used in pic, and still have it fit in your pocket

>Also the battery life on a phone for emulation is fucking terrible. Call me when they fix that.

Meh. No worse than the PSP battery.

wew lad
Thanks for the info

I like my PSP go, but that's just me apparently.

Kenka Bancho keeps crashing for me. Too bad they didn't localize much else of the series.

ive never had an issue.

absolutely never had control input lag, kinda starting to doubt whether you have the game at all or are just memeing

never played one but the 3000 screen is pretty decent
never had ghosting problems with my 3000 compared to my friends who had 1000s/2000s

>Or you could just attach it to the system like the one used in pic
No thanks, that looks highly unconfortable, plus i don't know why you choosed to post that specific controller when there are others that are more practical.

>Meh. No worse than the PSP battery.
That's objectibely wrong and you know it unless you never had a PSP. Way to disregard your post entirely.

>series
there are more of this? that is great to hear.
sorry to hear that the game crashes. everyone should play this game.

Yea except when you go to interrogate or kill an enemy with the knife you have to swipe down the right side of the back touch pad and that is a bitch

Are you DSP?

then you want to avoid it on psvita and 3ds

both will dip into that range

Kenka Bancho in english is actually Kenka Bancho 3, and there was 5 of them

Go is great if you're comfortable with it it has built in storage, no disc drive to annoy you or break, no falling out battery it's as if it was designed for piracy

Should I use PRO or Minimum? I don't quite get the difference.

the only difference i know of is that pro can use the pro-cfw online server

Alright, thanks!

Are you talking about CFW? I use infinity, brcause it's permanent.

Yes, me and a million other people that complain about the game's framerate are just making shit up. You solved the case Sherlock.

They've failed though as the PS Vita has been recently hacked. Sure its not as bad as the PSP but once CFW has been made then its rip sony.

>New 3DS
Not him, but out of curiosity, how much does overclocking improve the framerates? I can't seem to find any videos of it

The Vita has been dead for well over a year already. Any damage piracy does is negligible at this point.

Yeah that's what I was talking about. From what I can read, those two are permanent too.

well millions of people also listen to kayne and drive nissans

i guess well just have to agree to disagree. Do you have it digitally or on card?

Infinity has a small chance of bricking though.

>tfw no kenka banchou 5 translation
>tfw no Gachi tora translation

Physically?All

Pro is not permanent, you have to accest it from the menu and restart your PSP.

Never heard about that. I guess it could happen if you try to do it with a wrong version of your OFW but i never had any problem with mine.

>Still afaik no Yakuza PSP translations

time to learn moonspeak

> it's as if it was designed for piracy
Its almost as if its complete shit. Why did they make it?

Hell yes it is, not only do I have access to every 8bit/16bit game ever created, every PS1 game I can imagine all on super cheap memory cards.

Bricking seems to be fixed. Doing it non permanent only takes about 30 seconds to start up though.

i don't know but i really had trouble finding the bullshit sony sd card for cheap so the 16 gb built in really suited me
and also i could watch movies on it closed and it was comfy as fuck, it's a nice console

For AFAIK best battery life, best aesthetics and portability, built in storage, lack of a disc drive, best screen, the speed of the 2/3k,

Anybody who doesn't like it just doesn't like the controls and that's okay. But to say it's not the best PSP in retrospect is retarded.

What pro adapter is the best one? Link it on amazon?

You should clean that man.

Is there something about it specifically that makes it shit? PSP is a literal piracy machine, lack of a UMD drive is a pro. I've heard the 3000 screen had really bad interlacing issues and that 1000 and 2000 had ghosting. I'd get a 2000 before a 3000 but the Go sounds pretty good.

>playing a game
>mom calls
>die

No thanks

The controls on the GO are the make or break point. Some people don't like them, and i can't blame them.

But i've also used the thing for years no problem.

If you can do that with cfw I haven't fucked around with it yet. There were rumors that n3ds's did it automatically but that's bullshit save for games that were designed for n3ds.

>no disc drive is a good thing
What

Is not that much of a problem but it is annoying if you turn the PSP off a lot. That's the sole reason why i moved to infinity.

If you pirate everything, and you should, you will literally never use it.

Snes
Final Fantasy 6
Chrono Trigger

PSP
Jeanne D'Arc
Disgaea
Although the PSP excels at Action RPGs like Crisis Core, FF Type-0 and Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep.

Hell yes it is. It uses extra battery life and where the fuck are you even going to find discs in2016

>Small
>16GB can't hold all your games on it
>3000 way cheaper and parts if needed are available. You can also buy a new shell for your 3000 if you want another color.
>3000 more widely available so issue solutions are there if need to be searched on the internet.

Yeah I was think about infinity. If you keep it in sleep it will be fine though.

are you insane? The PSP 3000 had a pretty good screen (for its time)

*facepaw*

It really is a good thing to not have it, those shits burn out frequently and are pretty noisy

The only reasons to disregard the Go are the controls and the lack of part for the thing (if i remember correctly you can't change the battery unles you torn it appart.

>interlacing

Looking at a 3000 for 35 britbongs near me, should I pull the trigger?

Is either that or a flashcart for my 3ds

I would you could probably talk the price down too. Does it come with a decent sized memory card?

Not sure the guy has like 3 football games and nothing else. I was thinking of trying for 30

PSP's got a pretty decent library.

some of my favorites are Ridge Racer 2, Gurumin, Metal Gear Acid 2, Burnout Dominator, Project Diva Extend, Z.H.P., Outrun 2006 (port's decent, but not amazing, play the PS2 or PC version if you aren't in this for portability), Ys Seven (really, all of the Ys games except the Ys 6 port, which is really kind of lame -- play the game on PS2 or PC)

played a fuckton of God Eater on PSP as well
and it had an okay Tekken 6 port

it really is
what a fucking game

Low ball him if there isn't a memory card, also if it's scratched. They are cheap new you and sports games don't retain value for Shit. Go for it. Memory cards are cheap I got two micro sd and an adapter for under $20

>not liking UMDs
I want non cyberpunks to leave

>Internet browser

I have not downloaded any sort of homebrew web browser for the thing 'if any exist', But i remember the built-in web browser being hot garbage.

If you really want to collect them, by all means, go ahead, but if you just want to actually play games they are useless.

How do I convert PSX bins+cues into EBOOT.PBP files for use on my PSP3000?
I tried downloading NFL Blitz 2001 but it came up as these files instead, I'm not so great at emulating stuff.

Is there an updated version with Danganronpa, Summon Night 5 and other "recently" fan-translated titles??

Convince me to buy a Vita. Actually been kind of interested in it, but haven't kept up over the years. Also, what are some 8+/10 games on there, including ports?

Look up "PSX2PSP." It's a program where you plug those files in, and it turns them into Eboots. I used it several years ago. It's simple once you know how to do it, and there's plenty videos to help.

Just get them off of a emuparadise instead if you don't want to do that you can find several easy to use on Google. Read what people say about them

Depends on what kinda games you're looking for all of the vanillaware titles are pretty good or if you're into jrpgs and dungeon crawlers you have a good selection to choose from

>just ordered brand new battery
>currently downloading a ton of PS1 games
>probably gonna cozily play Vagrant Story by lamplight in bed this weekend

I really do love my PSP.

Mostly into JRPG's, Rhythm games, and whatever's comfy. Open to any user's favorite games on there really, I'm not picky.

So you admit that it's the most uncomfortable model with the worst controls? Case closed.

>Vita
Piracy is possible now with henkaku, so you can download any game that even slightly interests you. Also, emulators are already pretty good and are improving everyday. Memory cards are still expensive as fuck.

Best games would be Tearaway, Gravity Rush, Wipeout 2048 which isn't the best wipeout game but still pretty solid, Ys, Muramasa, Dragon's Crown, ports of EDF, metal gear collection, and an absolute assload of indie titles like Hotline Miami, Resogun, Geometry Wars, Risk of Rain, Don't Starve, etc.

If you buy a used one make sure it's at firmware 3.60 or below. All new one's in box should be at a lower firmware already. Memory cards are expensive as all fuck. 1000 model has a better screen, newer slim model has slightly better battery life (like 1 hour more). That's your crash course. Make up your own mind.

Then you'll love it, grand kingdom, disgaea, odins sphere, dungeon travelers 2, gundam breaker, world of ff, y's. I have roughly 20 or so games it's a fun little system

Ghost in the Shell
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

Find me a better PSP game

Dont even try, its not possible

yeah you'd enjoy it
im loving p4g and digimon cyber sleuth on my vita rn
rhythm game wise if you enjoy the diva/idol games theres a lot to choose from on that front. personally i've been enjoying taiko and superbeat xonic

>Persona 4 has a handheld port that's actually good
holy fuck what. How'd I not know this
I'm going to my gamestop to get one now

If only that was on PSN. Can't play it now, never tot the disc.

got*

>That's objectively wrong.

You're right. Most smartphones actually have better battery life than a PSP.

>ghosting

>okay Tekken 6 port
nigga u serious

T6's PSP port is so fucking good for a port of a console fighting game

it literally has everything that the console version has, other than the shitty story mode and the laggy online play.

if you really want to play online too, you can just use one of those ad-hoc online plugins like the PRO Online Plugin for PRO CFW.

I remember having played some Battlefront on psp on online multiplayer. that game had more depth than the dice.

Is there a way to play it again with people (even with emulator) ?

Download the iso senpai

what is the best after market battery for a 3000?
mine barely gets 4 hours now

>tfw I'm on firmware 5.00 M33-6

Wasn't that like the last firmware released by the creator of the first psp cfw before he left the scene?

>japanese only

Doing phone things, playing phone games? yes.
Emulating games, let alone PSP games? lolno

So if you hack the PSP can you play PSP games on it for free or just install emulators?

>Pandora

Jesus that sure takes me back.

>playing Patapon and Loco Roco all day long while on the move

Fuck that was comfy.

Both and much more.

gbatemp.net/threads/phantasy-star-portable-2-infinity-english-translation.368328/

Both

yeah you can play psp games for free
just stick an iso you downloaded into the ISO folder on the root of the memory stick and bam, free games

Do you think it would be worth it to buy one for around $45-$50?

oh shit nice

Sure, if it's in good condition and has a memor card.

I would say yes. Buy yourself a big memory stick, and put all the emulated games and PSP games into it and you'll be set for months. Hell, I really miss my fat ass PSP-1000 now.

Yes

>Also, what are some of your fondest memories of the PSP??

Borrowing it for a week from a school friend. I specifically downloaded one game I heard good things about. It was called Wipeout.
That, and I discovered Venetian Snares due to one track he had on the memcard.

Cool, is there any model I should target or does it not really matter?

Go for either the 3000 or the Go. 2000 has less scanlines but has ghosting. Be aware that the Go can't read UMD's The 1000 is more sturdy but it has less ram used that is used in homebrews and emulators. Avoid the PSP street like a plague.

One of the Wipeout games. Then Initial D.
Then Ridge Racer.

the first game is pretty far along on gbatemp, it'll probably be done in the next few years

IIRC 1000 also has a terrible d-pad. So much that I think that one of the fighting games was sold with clip-ons or something.

Can confirm. Had a 1000 model and fighting games were unplayable on that dpad. It didn't detect diagonal directions very well.

Post your favorite PSP game

I honest to goodness prefer it to PW

what's the biggest memory stick you can get for it?

I've seen 64 gb memory sticks but they're like $100. I got an 8 gb for 20 bucks or so a few years back and it's convenient enough.

you can get micro sdhc to memory stick pro duo adapters

Single memory stick? Dunno. I myself have an adapter for 2x MicroSD, though. I have 32 GB combined, but I think people reported larger amount working.

Oh, and by the way: Is there a good Pac-Man for PSP? Thanks to hype around Championship 2 I'm getting into it and would like to also have one portable.

I got one of those x2 micro SD adapters and two 64GB micro SDs, took some fiddling but I got it to werk. Space for days nigger.

How much difference does it make the micro sd class for stuff like loading in games? I'm using an old class 4 16GB micro sd with a cheap adapter so I was wondering if it's worth it to get a faster one.

The only thing worse than the 3DS browser is the PSP browser, the other are spot on, except maybe for the SNES emulator that wouldnt run some games correctly, or the MAME emulator that would run a handful of games, Neo-Geo and CPS3 emus were legit as fuck.

i tried modding this and the snes games ran like shit on it.

Vagrant Story.. I still need to finish that game.w

I've never even played it, this thread just made me wanna look up ps1 stuff and it looks up my alley. Plan on giving it a go

Why would you even compare the psp browser with the 3ds browser? They're years apart.

...

...

It's the greatest handheld ever created IMO. I LOVE my pink one.

Pretty sure the first Championship is on PSP.

I think my PSP 2000 battery is fucked up, every time i disconnect it from the charger the system acts like the battery is dead and shuts off.

Does this mean i should get a new battery? the system works and plays fine while turned on and plugged in, but shuts off when disconnected from the charger

Yep, sounds like the battery is fucked.

Does anyone know how Vita hacking has been coming along? Can I play pirated games on it yet?

>Can I play pirated games on it yet?
Yes, for about a month now.

Any good replacement brands?

my bad, it's a psp 3000

Henkaku and Vitamin let you play dumped Vita games and most emulators so long as you are on 3.60 firmware, the ePSP exploits were patched post-5.57 though and nobody has found a new one yet so the native emulators for PSP/PS1 aren't currently usable unless you're on early firmware.

Yeah, your battery is just worn out. Look up a new one on eBay/Amazon and you should be fine

>5.57
3.57 rather

Is it easy or a clusterfuck like 3DS hacking?

So easy a retarded blind child could do it.

Best homebrew games for psp?

You go to the Henkaku website in the Vita web browser and hit install, total babby tier. Transferring shit over ftp sucks though.

I remember there was one that turned your PSP into a universal remote. Controlling everything in my entertainment center through the PSP was convenient.

Does the PSP 2000 and 3000 use the same size and type of battery? the 2000 batteries seem cheaper than the 3000

>psp library can satisfy anyone, even fps players
>"LOL, PSP GAS NO GAEMS!"

Something like this? How does it work?
psp.brewology.com/downloads/download.php?id=3735

i literally modded a friend's psp 2 weeks ago

all i had to do was drag and drop 2 folders

I think that uses the psp's IR port, which only the 1000 has.

>played a lot of Growlanser IV
>Stick gets fucked and stop playing.
>Get another one and return to the game
>I don't remember jack shit.

Welp. Time to restart I guess.

That I am not sure. Definitely google it, although I think they might.

Okay I suspected something like that because my psp3000 has nothing like that. That's pretty cool though.

the cave story port is really good
aside from emulators most original homebrew games are garbo tho

>most original homebrew games are garbo
That's what I figured, but I had to ask.

I remember my dad bought me the 3000 model back when it was unhackable, I had to wait like 2 years until I was able to hack that shit

>tfw filthy sudaca
>psp games expensive and super hard to find
I played Ratchet and Clank and Echochrome like a thousand times

I'm currently using it to play GBA pokemon hacked roms, what should I play next? I'm not a big fan of turn based RPGs (except pokemon)

Is a 16 gig memory stick pro duo big enough if i want to pirate games? or should i spend the extra money for a 32 gig card.

So if I'm still on the stone age m33 cfw firmwares, is it safe to directly upgrade to some other new cfw?

What is the newest most stable/popular cfw?

I'm currently playing Dragon Ball Z Tenkaichi Tag Team, Juiced 2, The Sims 2 Castaway, MGS Peace Walker and Chili Con Carnage. They're all pretty good and comfy, gotta say.

does it matter on what type of psp i get? 1000,2000 or 3000?

Most PSP games do not go bigger than 1GB, it's very rare to even see 2GB. I've been fine with a 4GB, but a 16GB if great and a 32GB is even better.

Also, anyone know what the most up to date GBA emulator for PSPs is? The one I have crashes upon loading a save state after not playing for an hour.

Get this, Slap in two 64 GB or larger memory cards, and have all teh gaems.

For piracy, no. The 3000 and the pspgo are usually more well regarded due to them allowing bluetooth connection with PS3 controllers and can play on your TV should you ever want to. The only thing the 3000 has over the go is the memory stick adapters like pic related.

>all this insufferable weeb trash
Spare me.

>psp thread
>doesn't like weeb trash

Its like going to a Chinese food restaurant and complaining that they have too much Chinese food on the menu.

Probably playing Rocky on psp. Was actually a decent game, if a bit lacking in content

THERE'S A FUCKING ROCKY GAME FOR THE PSP? SHIEEEEET I'M DOWNLOADING THAT SHIT RIGHT NOW I LOVE YOU user

I don't see this on there.

What's the biggest size of memory cards the psp can use? two micro sd cards for 128 gigs?

This is the best psp game.

I dare you to find a better one.

Forgot image.

Best psp game coming through.

I loved it to death but could beat like level 4 to save my life.

Hey same here. Full of hackers and edgy teens who are living out their anime on it. It was a bitch to perfect that strafe/headshot maneuver with the d-pad

>Wonderfully modable handheld, can play all sorts of shit with emulation and etc
>Has its own library full of great games as well
>Completely ignored during its lifetime
>Only appreciated once a PC emulator surfaced

will the vita share its fate

What fw is the highest i can be on? I havent updated my vita in over a year i think but still...does this henkaku let you put psp isos on the vita? Thats the main draw for me

I was 16 when I played so desu I'm afraid I was among the crowd you're referencing

could you QHS very well?

PSP has a lot of solid non weeb games, that's not an argument.

>Only appreciated once a PC emulator surfaced
This is wrong. It was appreciated to hell and back because it was easy as fuck to hack.

1000 is bulkier which makes it more ergonomic but it only has 32MB of ram, can't be charged while using wifi and the screen has really bad ghosting. 2000 had significantly less ghosting and like all the later ones had 64MB ram. 3000 had a higher contrast screen with better colors / response time but also introduced pretty bad interlacing issues. PSP Go had 16GB internal storage and the nicest screen with no ghosting or interlacing but it had no UMD drive which made all the buyfags butthurt as fuck. 2000 and 3000 feel about the same to use, not as nice to hold as the 1000 but slightly better than the Go. 2000, 3000 and Go have TV output, the Go has PS3 controller support over bluetooth and the 3000 and the Go have built in microphones. The Go also had a really sweet dock.

socom: ftb 1 was my first psp game.
amazing game. fuck LCS and SH: homecoming. I'm replaying socom next

no.
I bought the best reviewed battery on amazon and it crapped out after a few weeks of use.
The best option would be a sony brand battery. enjoy paying a shitload for it though.

You should buy a PSP component cable so you can play socom on a big screen tv.

I always wanted to buy one of those.
But being a junkie don't help

Hey there Cred Forums Anons! A /toy/ regular here, and I was wondering if I could get help or opinions on something.

Anyone around that's restored their PSP with aftermarket housings and such? Years ago I replaced the cracked housing/shell on my 1000, with a clear colour set. Just it had some issues of some bad excess flash around the D-pad button holes, and the cable strip buttons under the screen.

So just curious if the generic housing sets are a lot better these days? Sorta stepped in when I found out a parent was about to drop around $140 each, on a used(albeit pretty spotless looking) 2000 and 3000 systems recently. When we've had a flea market with a shop close by that gets working condition systems for as low as $25 at times... Plans only for trying to restore two, at least one into a purple since we know the girl has actually asked for the colour before.

Thanks for any help!

You can get a third party cable for pretty cheap, like under ten bucks.

just looked it up. I'll get on it as soon as I get money.
thanks for the recommendation. any experiences with it?

No, i was planning to buy one myself soon, but from what i'vs heard the third party cables work just as good as the Sony one, The official ones are long out of print and the prices have skyrocketed.

btw the cables only work on PSP 2000 and 3000, not sure about the PSP go

>component cable

It's shit. The games don't play full screen, they play in the worst smallest screen in the center of the tv. I have one and I used it once when I bought it.

Mostly for anyone around that's restored their PSP with aftermarket housings and such? Years ago I replaced the cracked housing/shell on a 1000, with a clear colour set. Just it had some issues of some bad excess flash around the D-pad button holes, and the cable strip buttons under the screen; and a bit of warping(cause a bit of stress marking at the end of reassembly). Was functional still, but the QC issues was a let down after the conversion.

So just curious if the generic housing sets you find on Ali/Ebay are a lot better these days?

Thanks for any help!

what genres do you play?

PSP go has them as well. I had one and when the price for them skyrocketed I sold it

well shit. the other user got my hopes up for a second. I'll look it up on youtube and get a proper review.

is this playable without knowing nip?

it's not "your", retard, it's "you're". he missed an apostrophe, you're just stupid

only thing i could ever get to work was super mario 64 with sound disabled. that actually ran pretty much perfectly. everything else didn't work

they're a lot worse, actually. tt-store is the only place that sells semi-'genuine' faceplates. they also have good quality full housings. check their tiers, common, high and perfect/best.

everything else from China is shit. your best bet is to try and find some antique 3rd party shell that's actually branded.

bump

what's that fishing game for the psp? saw it in some thread, looked cool. more underrated gems like that please

tfw trying to fight the boss on 3ds

>fan-translated titles??
did disaster report 3 ever got translated?

the legend of the river king?

This is the part where I dropped the game.
Shame because I enjoyed watching the cut scenes in 3d

Guys where can I get a good psp battery for my psp? I got a couple of batteries from aliexpress, but the damn thing only lasts 1 hour

0/10

no it was realistic, from first person view. kind of like the sega fishing games but not arcade, more simulator.

>Also, what are some of your fondest memories of the PSP??

Playing locoroco while stoned and feeling trippy as fuck and then essentially using it as a portable mp3 speaker to play trance while me and my friends popped e's at night. Good times

>comfier

Try playing any of the PSP Monster Hunters and then come back and tell me how "comfy" it is.

It is really comfy.

>buy 2 slot micro SD card adaptor
>buy 2 64GB micro SD cards
>cfw handles 128GB just fine
>rip all my disks and go crazy dling rooms and images
>still play when I'm flying places.

ACX.

I answered this question a few posts earlier.
The only good battery out there is a official sony battery.
chink shit will die within weeks

Lords of Dogtown

>vita 1000
damn user, Im so sorry you got the shitty version with a screen that dies after a few months

I have 2 128GB micro sd and I dont have any problems with them
Try to get the class 10 sd

But that OLED screen is GOAT

yes too bad it only lasts a couple of months of use before it loses 60% its brightness

When I had my Hacked PSP all my SNES games except Mario Rpg, Mario Kart and Star Fox worked perfectly.
Played DKC1-3, SMW, SM, KI, CT, Kirby SS, and a shit ton others

psp 1000 how much can handle in terms of memory size?

Everytime I see this game, I see the hentai game

Are there any more PSP translations going on?

It seems like PSP is the platform of choice for translators

To answer my own question:
No, it's not safe to directly upgrade from 5.00 m33-6 to 6.61 official firmware.
I just tried and I got an error during the install.

Oddly enough the broken install seemed to work alright. I tried to downgrade it and got more of the same error. I had to take out the battery every time cause it got stuck on the install screen, but I ended up on what seemed to be working OFW's.

I tried to downgrade it back to 5.00 before doing any more stupid stuff so I followed a guide on how to downgrade it. Ironically enough, one step in the downgrading process involved "just upgrade to custom firmware" and that didn't hit me until I had actually done it.

Everything seems to work. Broken install or not.

>outrun
>eo4
>sor(2?)
>gunstar heroes
>pkmn picross
good taste
you a yuzo koshiro fan?
if you paid for all those, you're cool in my book

It's a tower defense

Had that on my phone 5 years ago w

Without exaggeration I shy away from getting a n3DS purely because the claw means so much to me (there's a grip with a stick for your left index for vanilla 3DS/XLs). You don't understand.

I'm having trouble getting Snes9xTYL to work on my psp. Every time I select it from the menu it looks like its working but it just takes me back to the main menu instead.
