Puyo Puyo series has been objectively better when Sega got the rights from Compile. Old Puyo Puyo games have been pretty much the same thing but with new characters while Puyo Puyo formula from Fever and after is actually evolved with new ideas.

Sega of Japan has hated their foreign branches, but Sonic sells too well to ignore. So they keep exporting Sonic, but use the excuse of "no other games sell in America" for the reason to not bring anything else out of Japan.

Hell, PSO2 still has a website with the last update from 2012 saying how there are plans to localize it. Sega just didn't even give enough of a fuck to even cancel the localization.

Nostalgia, momentum, and it's basically the only game with a snarky animal mascot aimed at kids. The last bit is no doubt why it has managed to still be so successful: kids too old for Pokemon but too young to care about Call of Duty still have Sonic to play, and a lot of those forgotten Sonic games (like Black Knight) find a big audience there. Basically, all those games that the basement nerds kept complaining about because they "weren't Sonic enough" were actually doing fairly well with the current intended audience.

It also requires just plain old playing enough to get sick of the common tropes, notice which ones are terribly boring and which are inventive, and actively be searching out for the good stuff. What's there to explain? It's one of the three series Sega still bothers to bring over; Vocaloid stuff, Yakuza games (though we get each installment several years after it came out) and of course, anything Sonic related.

Other than that, we barely get scraps here and there, like the 3D Classics ports. We never got Phantasy Star Online 2, or most of the Puyo Puyo games. Hell, we might not even going to get the other 3D classic collection. I hope we get that much, at least. There's a third collection about to come out in Japan in December, so hopefully we'll get an announcement for the first collection being brought over.

That's the thing about Sega though; you can never be too sure about what they will or won't bring over. It feels random.

If you want your localization just play Bejeweled with Card Captors paused on your other screen. Every time you get a match unpause it for 10 seconds. There you go.
