Are the Metro games any good (redux)?

Are the Metro games any good (redux)?

Reviews seem mostly good but I don't think I've ever seen a Cred Forums discussion on the series.

Redux ruined 2033, play the original if you can.

I liked them both, solid FPS shooters. First one is better though.

They're both good, but play the originals not the redux.

Remasters are a fucking meme, just play the original ones.

Speaking of Metro, the devs have been teasing a new FPS game.

Whats wrong with redux? Thats the version I have.

its slightly different
waah

>Whats wrong with redux?

Worse performance with basically no visual improvement, dumbed down AI, enemy damage nerfed, too much ammo when in the original ammo was very scarce.

worse graphics, ruined atmosphere, changed some things entirely.

Would recommend 8/10.

10/10 if there weren't bugs and my play through was smoother.

Why the hell does the Redux version look so bad? Plastic isn't better than leather.

Metro 2033 is a great game. Plenty of spooks and action without being corny (for the most part), and the "villain" is pretty cool.

Metro Last Light is also cool, but not as much as 2033. The damn puppy monkey baby you have to follow is annoying, and some parts try to be too "epic" with slow motion and ridiculous shootouts. It's a good game, but that's it.

2033 is a must play though. It's essentially an easier STALKER, but more FPS oriented without being bad.

>no visual improvement
It's literally a downgrade.

They got rid of the dlc for the original, added it all on redux but made it more expensive. So now you cant get the dlc anymore unless you buy the game again (redux).
Graphics wise they made lots of changes but most look like shit. Gameplay no idea since i didnt bothered checking.

They're good, what are you playing it on? On PC you're probably just better off playing regular 2033 though.

That sucks, too bad I already have both games on PS4. Still worth playing?

I really hated the vertical Field of View limitation of 2033. Also the game had a tendency to push for floaty forced aim bullshit that was just annoying. Plus the gas mask and it hurts my eye to look at such a tiny FOV you slavic hacks

The kid you carry on your back messes with your aim, there's also the wind outside that does the same thing. That just annoyed me, Last Light was much much better in those things, also was less cinematic and focused on scripted set pieces.

metro was meh. You do it once and just move on.

Why are so many remasters lately fucking downgrades?

They're great games and I can't wait for what the studio comes out with next. Great books too, and the world deserves more media.

That being said, to the crybabies bitching about remasters and DLC, I got both of them for like 7 bucks on my xbone last month. Just wait for them to be on sale, they're worth the purchase.

Because they're just cashgrabs. No reason to put in effort.

Don't listen to the memes. The games are great.

The Redux version of 2033 is superior

It removes the obtuseness of the original.

Now you can buy gas masks before the final few stages, and how much filter time you have left is actually clear.

They fixed that infamous amoeba level towards the very end

They added a Deus Ex HR-like melee attack that can instantly KO or kill NPCs. It makes stealth more viable. Previously we had to rely in two silent weapons which weren't always guaranteed kills, or we had to use throwing knives, and Artyom's aim with the knives is shit and the game doesn't give us crosshairs

Also it tells you which ending to Last Light is cannon

>fixed the amoeba level
>The level that I personally, and most likely thousands of other people were able to get through in 5-10~ minutes
Fucking babies

...

This is redux

>LL ranger hardcore
>can't tell what grenades are equipped
>can't tell if you're pissing away MGRs if you don't have a rifle with a see-through magazine
>still not fixed

yes, I own it on PS4 and Xbone and it's one of the better console fps ports since it actually runs at 60fps

I loved 2033 but last light i could only get the redux and it's got some glitch at a certain point that I can't progress from.

Eat shit. It lagged both my PC and Xbox back in the day to the point of unplayability (getting

the amoeba level is ez there is a gun on one of the carts that recks them

that is the point retard

you have to know

>you got to use a grenade to know which one is equipped

Are the achievements in the original game still a mystery? I looked up guides back when I first played the game, and was amused when several of them basically explained that people only had guesses and theories about how to unlock many of the (probably bugged) achievements.

A lot of the confusion had to do with the game's completely invisible and pointlessly obscure morality stat, or whatever you want to call it, which determines endings.

NYET NYET NYET THE THROWING KNIVES WERE THE BEST PART OF 2033 AND THEY GOT BUTCHERED

Didn't they remove the option to hold your throwing knives? It's not a big deal but I liked creeping around with those knives in my hand when sneaking through areas with humans.

>T. someone who never played it

Stop playing on normal difficulty

My problem in that level was running out of ammo

I ended up using my MGRs, even though I wanted to save them. A first time player won't realize there's nothing to buy after the amoeba level so using MGR is a viable option

The redux is totally fine, Cred Forums is just retarded.

The biggest problems with it are the same changes they made in Last Light to the core gameplay, but that's to be expected.

That's because they literally just turned the UI off. Compared to the original Metro 2033 ranger hardcore which had selective UI.

It was the laziest thing I ever saw someone charge $5 for.

Each grenade has a unique inventory sound effect when you change between them.

troll
2033 redux is one of the best games of all time

and last light is good too

>Are the achievements in the original game still a mystery?
No but you really need a guide for the good ending achievement. Some of the good moral points are very hidden and you need to find like 99% of them.

ARTYOM

We must get to Polis

You guys are actually retarded arent you? Theres such a obvious difference it hurts to read this shit.

Pic from the redux, tell me that looks like shit.

I prefer the Redux version tbhfam. The only change that truly pissed me off was what they did to pic related.

Right, like everyone saying its worse than the original must run this shit on toasters or something. Played the shit out of 2033 and then the redux and it was impressive. Whats this pic from? I know its from metro but i never saw the bayonet attachment in the game

Check out
youtu.be/PaCtNale5Co?t=756 redux

youtu.be/_0buoWyp_Ts?t=355 normal

And tell me the normal doesn't look better.

The uboinik had a bayonet attachment in 2033 but was removed in LL and Redux.

oh okay, thats weird they removed it

I love how you 2033fags always cherry pick this section while the rest of the game looks way better in Redux,

The originals still looked good but the redux looked better and felt so much smoother imo. Even if you dont agree and prefer the look of the original youd have to be a retard to say the redux ruined or downgraded it

If anything it's just a change of art style and saying one is better than the other is just a matter of personal preferences.

Redux literally downgraded all lighting and smoke effects across the board.

What? Read it again, im saying the whole game looks better in redux.

Post some screenshots my dude.

>gas mask is wet
>wipe mask
>mask is now covered in blood and still wet

Fuck me, i meant to quote this faggot here

Just keep wiping that shit until is perfectly clean.

The lighting is technically more advanced in redux, but it also lost the gloomy tone of the original game.

There's also a lot of prebaked and ambient lighting in interior environments so all levels have this slight "glow" that allows you to see clearly when things should be pitch black (Especially noticeable in the Frontline mission), loss of certain effects like godrays and certain dynamic light sources (such as light from grenade explosions), and exaggerated bloom that you can't turn off.

It was a big step down (mostly aesthetically) imo.

Each to their own then, cant disagree if its a person preference. Fuck the losers saying the redux made the game worse though

Metro 2034 and 2035 when?

>Freezing world
>bare hand
>touching metal

Redux is objectively worse

Probably playing on console so he can't

>objectively
I don't think you know what that word means.

Did they move the stealth and armor suit in the redux?

Redux did some things better and some things worse. I'd still recommend the original over it.

Metro: 2033 and Last Light were honestly the first two games that have ever made me actually want to care about the story, the characters, cutscenes, etc. It was just so bloody fucking fantastic.

Especially in Last Light when you go to that fishing town. It is super fucking cozy.

Yep.

Not for a while. The studio thats behind metro are well at work on something but its not metro unless its metro 3022 (its futuristic)

No, I do. It's objectively worse.

Fuck me they ruined it

All I can think about is that stupid escort mission in the bunker at the end of 2033.

The library in 2033 is the greatest goat mission of all time
>go in slow and steady
>finish the level sprinting and shouting like a girl

this.
